2 years ago a thread on Our Girl was started with these words ^Anyone watching this drivel?
although slightly enjoyed the family dynamics going on last night, unfortunately DD's favourite programme and in fact Guardian seems to recommend it^

38,000 posts, fireside wrestling contests, fan-fiction, autograph requests, carol concerts, CJ Grand Tours later we are about to watch series 2! And that first post is a distant memory.

Join us on what is sure to be an amazing journey over the next 5 weeks

Afternoon everyone.
Kuia just wanted to reiterate what has already been said. You deserve an incredible amount of respect for what you do every day.
On a lighter note, I have a question. The song that GL is listening to on her headphones in episode 1, and that Elvis listens to in the car on the drive back to London, I know it, but what's it called and who is it by? Anyone?

Firegirl · 17/09/2016 13:06

Obviously when I say I know it, I mean I know I've heard it before, but that's all.

icemistOBE · 17/09/2016 13:30

She Moves In Her Own Way by The Kooks

Afternoon all.

kuia again voicing what others have posted. A wonderful mum to an amazing son.

Miserable grey day today and not really wanting to do anything, slightly hungover from last night as we were out for my dad's birthday, so today is about drinking tea and doing everything in slow motion!!

Firegirl · 17/09/2016 13:59

Thanks ice! It's good there are people on here who have a knowledge of music beyond just the eighties stuff, unlike me. Well slight exaggeration, but not much.

cjwoofwoof · 17/09/2016 14:17

kuia what a beautiful yet poignant film about Simon. I could see that you are a total inspiration and rock for him, and yet it looks like he's surrounded by a fantastic group of people who care and look out for him too, whether at work or socially, so that must alleviate your worries a little. Now I understand why you're such a no-nonsense kind of girl - you have to deal with so much which must make frivolity and selfishness seem utterly tiresome. It makes me feel guilty that I stress over such stupid 'things' that happen when my life is easy in comparison with what you have to deal with every day. Big respect to you xxx. I'm glad this thread and our CJ obsession helps sometimes - laughter is always best in my book as well as great big dollops of lecherous lust obvs Grin

pix think yourself lucky it's just this morning - my DH would act like a bellend 99.9% of the time if I took any notice I let him Angry

Not sure if I'll make Watchalong tonight as too many interruptions. DS coming home from France and I've got to pick him up at 9.30. Bah! Doesn't he realise that some of us lead very sad tv programme obsessed busy lives?

cjwoofwoof · 17/09/2016 14:22

Firegirl big Kooks fans in this house - play that song all the time in the car - guess I'm down wiv da kidz a bit more than you

kuiakaituhi · 17/09/2016 15:50

Woof I really am OK. I decided many years ago that I wasn't going to let my life be defined by, or limited to my sons' disabilities. I have had some amazing adventures along the way and I'm glad I have good sense of humour and some ability with words. I managed to have acareer as an English teacher before I retrained as a school counsellor. I have had to work as I have been a solo mum for 25 years. We have done more than survive. There's lots of love here and lots of good friends.
Back to core business. I have updated the diary- Chapter 4 - and find it- and I- getting smuttier with each entry. Might gonna have to shift it to the Dark Side before much longer. I commented about my love of Lucifer, aka Tom Ellis and one of my readers/reviewers who seems to share my dirtymindedness told me of photos on the web of MR Ellis AND Mr Aldridge TOGETHER, for fucks sake, as CJ would say.
Ladies they are divine but sadly I don't think they can be saved and posted. Have a gander, as we say here in Noo Zild

icemistOBE · 17/09/2016 15:57

They did a play together kuia sure we've had the photos on a very early thread

One other thing Do any of you come from Leeds? My GD started a term at Uni on exchange and sent me her address this morning. I'd like to find out a bit about where she is. This is the one who got caught up in the terrorist stuff last month. If you are willing to talk to me about Leeds, perhaps you could contact me privately.

And Woof the Springbok dressing room would have been asad and sorry place tonight. They could have done with your soothing hands after the AB's creamed them 42-13. The AB's were well "on the turps" last shot of them in their dressing room
In response to your earlier inquiry, SBW was there and he still had the plaster cast on the same leg,

kuiakaituhi · 17/09/2016 16:01

Thanks, ice They bare soooooo hot together, I almost fell over in a faint. I should be in bed Can't sleep it's three in the morning here

kuiakaituhi · 17/09/2016 16:55

OOOPs Freudian slip , didn't mean to put the 'b' in front of 'are'.

cjwoofwoof · 17/09/2016 17:29

Ooh those poor Boks kuia I'm sure they would've appreciated a commiserative thigh rubdown from my legendary expert hands to alleviate their pain. My hands have been full today with the magnificent Juan Martin del Potro, the Argentine tennis player whose kept me very well entertained this afternoon. He is truly a magnificent specimen, sigh, but obvs I was only watching his magnificent forehand and very big lob.

I'm afraid Tom Ellis and BA together would be too much for one woman's menopausal hormone-addled uterus to stand on a Saturday before the watershed Grin

Onlygirljen · 17/09/2016 17:42

Pix there must be something in the water causing men to act like total fucking knobends be more annoying than usual today Confused

kuia, great video. Simon is an inspiration.

moojangles · 17/09/2016 18:20

pix, jen happening here too!!!

Will be awol for the watchalong but with you in spirit as the speed of the internet I am borrowing is sooooooo slow

pixieg1rl · 17/09/2016 18:50

It must be the full moon mooj, Jen.

Rhubarb01 · 17/09/2016 19:15

Evening! Do you know I've been wondering about that full moon all night. Apparently it's a harvest moon and strangely enough last night my dog got me up at about 4.30 am to go out in the garden which is very unusual. The moon was absolutely amazing and I was marvelling at the size and brightness and the shadows in the garden as t he dog stepped outside went about two steps and just froze...

I was standing at the door going "Go on Fido weee weee!" like you do but he just froze and wouldn't go anywhere. Then eventually he did his little bit of business but returned to his frozen staring pose and then, I kid you not, he started low growling and it really freaked me a bit. I thought he was probably growling at the moon shadows because he just isn't used to seeing them but then I started thinking "Oh god, what if there is someone just around the corner and I'm standing here in my nightclothes with the door open". I ended up going "Come in, now!" in a hoarse, desperate whisper and eventually he stopped growling and obeyed and I shut the door and turned all the lights on thinking "That'll put anybody off!". He has NEVER done that before and he's a real wimp - so it was very, very weird!

Therefore, don't be surprised if DH's and OH's are playing up I reckon it must be the...moon!!!

pixieg1rl · 17/09/2016 20:04

There was a lunar eclipse last night rhu, maybe the dog was growling at that.

Less that an hour to watchalong. Better get some gin in me!

Rhubarb01 · 17/09/2016 20:12

Well, it was something almost other worldly pix and they say animals have something like a sixth sense or instinct and something bothered him alright.

Rhubarb01 · 17/09/2016 20:17

By the way I've already had my weekly tipple accompanied by DD's, aka Saffy, disapproving comments such as "That had better be blackcurrant squash!" Naturally I assured her it was...it wasn't!

Ilovelblue · 17/09/2016 20:22

Hi all. Almost ready and waiting for 9pm. Been out most of the day with my Mum's cousin who it turns out watches OG! Not sure she's exactly in our league though.

Are we ok for a new thread by the way? I should probably learn how to do it myself.

Rhubarb01 · 17/09/2016 20:25

Ilove I was just wondering about that myself. I don't think we've got another yet but feel sure we'll need one. I could set one up if you want but I feel it's ice's territory and she deserves the honour, so not sure.

Ilovelblue · 17/09/2016 20:30

Is ice around?

Rhubarb01 · 17/09/2016 20:33

Not for a while - are you around Ice?

pixieg1rl · 17/09/2016 20:45

I so go ahead and do it rhu. Wanna photo to put up?
