although slightly enjoyed the family dynamics going on last night, unfortunately DD's favourite programme and in fact Guardian seems to recommend it^

38,000 posts, fireside wrestling contests, fan-fiction, autograph requests, carol concerts, CJ Grand Tours later we are about to watch series 2! And that first post is a distant memory.

So sorry to hear about your friend Ilove Flowers.

Firegirl I think the plan was for Jomo to be taken back to the camp as his mum had died and they'd effectively arrested his dad.

Intrigued as to who Laura is too and wondering how long before all is revealed. There is so much we don't know - with OG1 we had dates every now again but unless I've missed something we don't know when this is supposed to be set. Would also like to know when and how CJ changed his mind about resigning his commission and whether it was M who persuaded him to stay in the army.

Rhu please let us know what you think of Bridget Jones' baby - may give it a go next week. Loved the first one but didn't think much of the second.

moojangles · 16/09/2016 20:58

kuia don't know if you're following the paralympics at all but your sprinter Liam Malone a big hit here, he's on channel 4 tomorrow night

Rhubarb01 · 16/09/2016 22:57

Evening. Just got in from seeing Bridget Jones's Baby and I'm pleased to report alittle that I enjoyed it. Not surprisingly the audience was largely made up of ladies of a certain age but there was a lot a laughter particularly when Bridget is being 'helped' to the hospital. There are definitely nods to moments in the previous films but you have to expect that as it's one of a series of films and even though it's a comedy there were some touching moments too. It's definitely better than 'The Edge of Reason' and probably on a par with the first film but makes allowances for the way in which the characters have aged and moved on in their lives. All I can say is that I left with a smile on my face and DD enjoyed it too and laughed a lot - not bad considering the age gap although, of course, she's seen the other two films. There is one moment relating to Bridget's internet search history that will definitely amuse the ladies on here Grin

Ilovelblue · 16/09/2016 23:03

Evening everyone.

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts over the death of my friend. They say these things come in threes: my colleague's father in law died on Monday and a friend of mine lost her Mum this morning (though she had been ill and deteriorating over a number of years since a very severe stroke).

Had a more relaxing evening tonight, no doubt helped by white wine and several viewings of OG: the prequel and both new episodes! I keep replaying the arrival of Elvis and his cohorts over and over again and it makes me smile every single time. That guy is so cool! I just love the way he greets CJ, as if it's only a few days since they last met. Brazen or what?

Was it Berlin or Heligirl who joined this thread because of she has been a fan of Luke as a Musketeer?

Are we likely to need a new thread in readiness for tomorrow night's watchalong?

Ilovelblue · 16/09/2016 23:06

ice do you recognise some of the shots of GL with the doctor in the first episode? Obviously I know the town hall but I wondered where the bridge was where GL tells him about the Kenyan tour. I wondered if we could take Rich on a filming tour when she's up in Manchester.

Rhubarb01 · 16/09/2016 23:14

ilove do you think that Elvis and CJ haven't seen each other since the wedding that never was? I just keep wondering what CJ knows about Elvis or is he totally in the dark? I wonder what Elvis really told CJ or whether they had words about it? I'm just hoping some of this is going to come out over time. Did you notice the slightly worried look on Elvi's face when CJ remarked on the tattoo? I'm wondering now if that was the reason for the shower scene - well that and TG taking great pity on us all after such slim pickings in series 1.

Have to agree that the arrival scene really is the spark moment for me. What a combination - sternface professional meets cocky arrogant maverick and all with a bit of shared history thrown in.

Think we might need another thread as we can easily rack up over a hundred posts in an hour.

Ilovelblue · 16/09/2016 23:26

Rhu when you think that in the first series, all we got was the Rosabaya scene and the kiss in the bunker plus an almost kiss back in Bath, we've not done too badly so far. Elvis and GL in the first couple of minutes in episode 1 and the shower scene in episode 2. Shame we didn't get CJ and EH in the shower - don't think anyone would have complained about that.

My interpretation was that CJ had heard of EH's missions abroad through the grapevine rather than EH staying in touch. Doesn't CJ say "I thought you were in Syria."? Mind you, in one of those Who's Who things the BBC published ahead of the prequel, I am sure they said CJ and EH were friends and EH reminded CJ of his wilder past. I can't find it now though.

Rhubarb01 · 16/09/2016 23:42

There is some info in the press pack for this series - an interview with BA about Captain James. Most of it has been published in various places or broadcast but he does say that he and Elvis are friends that go way back and had done several tours together He says they used to be "absolute rascals" back in the day but things are changing because CJ has matured and is more settled and offers advice that, surprise, surprise, Elvis isn't too keen on accepting - I think we've seen the start of that already.

ladybird69 · 17/09/2016 00:15

Thanksrhubarb and ilove yes I must have missed the milk tray man but Elvis is welcome any time with or without chocs. Ill put series one on my list to Santa Grin and try and watch the prequel to this one.

ladybird69 · 17/09/2016 00:16

rhubarb and ilove

ladybird69 · 17/09/2016 00:17

That's better sorry had a BOLD fail.

kuiakaituhi · 17/09/2016 06:46

Hi, MOO re Liam Malone. Yep, we all love him here. Her is a great young man
. I don't know whether you lot know that I have two sons with disabilities. One is profoundly deaf, has autism, the other a serious brain injury at age 21,so the world of disability is part of my reality.
Like most mums who make a fist of it, I don't go in for pity parties, but really feel proud when someone like him has such a powerful message to deliver and does it so well. He was on TV here last night, looking absolutely excited and was off to the pub to get trashed, good on him.

I'm taking a big risk here, but am posting a link about a series of small films that have just been made here, one about my Simon. I am in it and as you will see, I am neither a light weight nor a spring chicken, but I do have some important things to say from a mother's perspective. I'd be interested in your feedback. I had just had leg surgery, so hence the limp. It's getting better now.
One of the girls, Celeste. is featuring in a film about Jean Batten, starring Sam Neill who was the Major in "And Then There Were None."
I AM really nervous about doing this, but we all awnt the message to be spread far and wide.

kuiakaituhi · 17/09/2016 06:47

Sorry about the typos I AM nervous about this, so be kind, please!

kuiakaituhi · 17/09/2016 06:55

www.amystreet.net? Can't get the other link to work, or just Google amystreet if you can be bothered

Ilovelblue · 17/09/2016 08:12

Ladybird I have no doubt you are much closer in age to Elvis Harte than the vast majority of us on here but there's still a queue for his attention and I am first in line. Chocolates would be a small bonus I guess!

Ilovelblue · 17/09/2016 08:14

I've been fast forwarding over the gory bits of Wednesday's episode. Not sure how I will manage tonight at the watchalong.

pixieg1rl · 17/09/2016 08:21

I was chatting to a friend last night who knows about my OG obsession interest. She caught the end of Wednesday's episode and said the kidnap/shooting was too much for her. Then I showed her the Elvis in the shower photos and that got her interested Grin

Rhubarb01 · 17/09/2016 08:37

kuia thank you so much for sharing that with us. Your son is a very special man. I know your message is about him and the other remarkable people like him but you also deserve recognition for being a tower of strength to him however much you may feel that you are just being his mum which after all is the most important job in the world. Flowers

kuiakaituhi · 17/09/2016 09:12

Thanks, Rhu Our job as mums of our intellectually disabled sons and daughters is one of lifelong responsibility and our fears are always about what will happen we are gone. I think, though, that my two have been my best teachers . I certainly treasure each moment of my life and look to have fun where ever I can. Hence my enjoyment of MN and of writing ff.

SoEverybodyDance · 17/09/2016 09:15

Hello Kuai,

I was really interested in your post, and kudos to you for expressing such strength in adversity, Star I can't work the link unfortunately... Is there another link to the programme?

kuiakaituhi · 17/09/2016 09:23

DANCE Try the second link I put up. I tried it and it worked. Or else, Google amystree.
Rhu managed to find it

KeziaOAP · 17/09/2016 11:08

Kuia found your link will read later.

I love a lot of sad news I can feel for you, last week found out a lady who had been having RT treatment with me a few months back, died suddenly, knocked me for six. She was a lot younger than me with teenage children.

Looking forward to episode 2 watch at 9 pm.

DD wasn't feeling too good yesterday so what did we do?...... watched OG S1 DVD straight through, still get that tingly feeling Grin.

pixieg1rl · 17/09/2016 11:52

MrP is driving me fucking mad this morning. We're both knackered and stressed. Off to do some blackberry picking with DS because otherwise I'll go mad.

Lots of hugs to everyone, I'll respond further later xx.

moojangles · 17/09/2016 12:16

I had that last weekend, you have my sympathies xx
