Welcome to Thread 134 of rampant Muskeperving over plot appreciation of BBCMusketeers and their FAF actors.

We're in recovery from Episode six Sex still, so help yourselves to a drink from the bar, apart from the pre-poured whiskies. They're for VIPs. Obvs - if you're a VIP, help yourself Grin

You ladies, arf, are no match for my bedroom tricks Wink

Carolina15 · 24/07/2016 16:31

I said mature not aged! I could be likened to a fine, vintage wine and we all know Athos is a drunkard !

Badders123 · 24/07/2016 16:34

Yes, hes drunk on love and lust for ME Wink

AriadneNoir · 24/07/2016 16:49

Helloooo carolina

However Athos clearly needs an intelligent red-headed rebel, with sass, a perchant for kinky sex and an incredible pair of boobs...... That would be me then!!

Though to be fair....if Athos is so bloody intent on Sylvie (bluggghh), I'd quite happily have some girl action with Milady instead. Blush

Carolina15 · 24/07/2016 16:50

As the song goes, he needs a lover with a slow hand not to mention experience and I have awesome bits too !

Carolina15 · 24/07/2016 16:52

Cross post there.

I think redheads are more Gibbs style in NCIS so run along and play with him for a while and let the old gal get to grips with Athos.

Badders123 · 24/07/2016 16:53

Ooooh mark harmon
Lovely

ApricotCrush · 24/07/2016 16:56

Well, we all seem to be in agreement on that. Athos needs a red-blooded woman, and Sylvie to me is just an irritating street urchin. If you read Simon Allen's Twitter, they all think she's wonderful and he's on a real ego trip over it all. Angry

If Athos couldn't have Milady, I would have been happy for him to end up with Ninon too. She's a woman not a girl. Still upset. Sad

Irritating street urchin Grin Thanks for the gif Apes, I can't stop watching!

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 24/07/2016 17:05

Apes you can post that as many times as you wish Grin

Thanks Letus Smile

Carolina15 · 24/07/2016 17:06

Agreed. He needs a red blooded woman not a rebellious teenager and Ninon would have fitted the bill. Still don't know why they couldn't have just left him a free agent until Maimie could come back in the later episodes and have her help the Musketeers sort out the remaining baddies. She would have made the perfect agent to sort out Marcheaux, find Grimaud and look into what Gaston was up to with the Duke of Lorraine.

Mark Harmon has aged rather well hasn't he Badders

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/07/2016 17:07

At least your multiple post included FAF Apricot Grin

Fancy you are quite welcome to the Aramis I ordered, it was more of an example thing from my point of view, so I don't really have much need for him.

Anyway, you can all just carry on arguing about who Athos should be with - he's quite happy up here in the hayloft with me. (And for what it's worth, I thought Ninon was v. tedious)

He may seem happy in the hayloft with you but, for what it's worth you're simply a source of amusement while he waits for me to beat these three into submission.

Badders123 · 24/07/2016 17:22

Anyone with Athos who isn't me is tedious Grin

AriadneNoir · 24/07/2016 17:25

Interesting reading the scripts of the scene of Sylvie about to be flogged - that Simon posted on Twitter.

So I think I come to the conclusion that the 'lost in translation' is mainly the acting (though I'm sure the actress is lovely in RL). Her script here is actually quite powerful - and the scene a huge juxtaposition of the 'hanging tree' - yet it is Maimie who totally steals the scene with her silent realisation that she is no longer the love of Athos life.

Carolina15 · 24/07/2016 17:30

You have a point and it was her first TV role so maybe it is as much the acting as the writing. I just don't see that there was a need for Athos to have a new love anyway. He's always been a brooding, dark character and something of a loner with no time for women so why start now just to give him a love interest.

AriadneNoir · 24/07/2016 17:40

I like that Athos can show an other side to his character... Like the getting tied up bit for example !! Wink

But what is the point of Sylvie - what does she add to overall direction of story other than being a way for Athos to move on? Milady was written and acted as a strong leading lady - that's what is really missing.

So yep - what is need is a rebellious woman!! Wink

Carolina15 · 24/07/2016 17:51

Sylvie adds nothing to the story but I guess the moving on part was what the writers considered important. I would have liked to see Athos develop as a strong Captain leading the regiment through the battle to maintain control of Paris in crisis rather than his weird fixation on Grimaud and his whupping at his hand having been caught with his pants down so to speak. Wasn't he supposed to be the finest swordsmen in the regiment and when, up until this season, have we seen any of the Musketeers get a whupping like that.

Badders123 · 24/07/2016 18:03

I think it's twofold;
The writing for her is poor (arguably all the writing this season is poor though)
But I have to say her acting is not great (in a season with lots of not great actors she still stands out iyswim?)
Since ferons death the show has really lost something imho

AriadneNoir · 24/07/2016 18:06

Grimaud cleary has super-powers of healing - or Mithril armour
