Jason leaving has to help, he is more wooden than a clothes peg.

I wish Kym Marsh was properly leaving too - I feel they are taunting us with what could have been with all this cruise ship talk.

I liked Erica as Karen Betts in ' Bas girls' Grin

coolandcalm · 20/08/2016 16:24

I agree about Erica, she should be given better storylines instead of the ones who really can't act getting them, such as Fizz, Maria, Michelle, Sophie to name a few. Btw what has happened to our Sawphie, not seen her for ages. Not that I'm complaining. But how will the garage cope without her and her clipboard. Grin

NuggetofPurestGreen · 20/08/2016 17:15

Yeah poor old Erica stuck with Dev!!! Ew.

eddiemairswife · 20/08/2016 17:49

Sophie was hanging around during the roses/carnations drama in the pub. Looking all concerned of course.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 21/08/2016 11:56

Agree about Erica, she seems wasted. There does seem to be a heap of characters just hanging around devoid of storylines. Plus a whole heap of terrible actors. I think the problem is that a lot of the characters mentioned were engaging child/teen actors on the soap and haven't matured into decent adult actors. (How could they? They've played the same role for the duration of their acting career)

coolandcalm · 21/08/2016 14:29

I really hope they don't show too many scenes of Simon and Tracey's daughter together. I find them unbearable to watch. Simons acting is terrible and other one not far behind. I've seen better at the school nativity.

troglodite · 21/08/2016 14:49

Coronation street has real form for bringing in well known actors and then underusing / not knowing what to do with them. They did the same with Jimi Mistry. Unfortunatley the new producer seems to love Maria - one of her first actions was to renew Samia Ghadie's contract. Not looking good for the future.

They also do really badly when they decide to bring in a new ethnic family - they then seem to have no decent storylines prepared for them. (e.g. - Craig Charles' long lost daughter and mother, the Nazir's - opening a community centre- really? top businessman decides to buy Anna's backstreet house) It all just seems to go nowhere.

Clawdy · 21/08/2016 15:07

I really want Leanne to be happy. Wish the baby was Nick's after all, but even Corrie can't be as far fetched as that........

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 21/08/2016 15:43

Unfortunatley the new producer seems to love Maria

Why? she's the most boring and pointless character on the street after Andy. She gets a storyline every four years or so, usually gets a bit intense and obsessive over a bloke and then spends the intervening time doing cut and colours and having the odd Chardonnay at the Rovers.

I can only think that they see her as a sort of every woman a sort of cipher for who they imagine their viewers are.

eddiemairswife · 21/08/2016 15:55

Well if they are going to do things with Maria they need to sort out the gay, fake marriage farce. i.e. send her to prison! For a long, long time!!

Olddear · 21/08/2016 16:52

I hate how everyone works, socialises, meets their partners, goes to jail all from that one small street.

coolandcalm · 21/08/2016 20:59

I agree, not one of them has to go into Manchester to work.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 21/08/2016 21:12

She must be the only one in Corrie who hasn't done a bit of porridge.

I really think that the government should look at Coronation Street when it comes to the employment of ex-offenders. You could have done more bird that Norman Stanley Fletcher and still get a job within walking distance from your home.

Olddear · 21/08/2016 21:12

Nope. And there's always a job in the rovers/knicker factory/Devs shop and an empty flat or Eileen's to stay in for any new arrival on the street.

coolandcalm · 21/08/2016 21:16

Eileen's house and the Rovers are like the tardis.Grin

PinkPearls20 · 21/08/2016 21:18

Is it me or have they recently made Eileen's kitchen a little bigger?

Also houses decor just seem to change completely.

Olddear · 21/08/2016 21:45

I wish they'd change the decor in Sally's kitchen. That yellow wallpaper is horrible. And don't get me started on Fiz and Tyrones!!

eddiemairswife · 21/08/2016 22:24

fortunately Fizz, Tyrone and 'the girls' have been missing since Hope's recovery.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 21/08/2016 22:29

Yes the structural features in the Nazir's house (the staircase and bannister) seem to have completely changed in the past few weeks and has had a full makeover without anyone noticing.

PinkPearls20 · 21/08/2016 22:32

Tyrone and Fizz house is vvv bizarre. That awful blue wall paper I think it is...with random pictures on the wall that clash completely. Don't get me started on the Sofa...

coolandcalm · 21/08/2016 23:18

Remember the Ogdens house with the duck murals and Hilda's singing. Smile

theliverpoolone · 21/08/2016 23:26

The other day there was a comment about Maria being 'gay-friendly' as she'd previously had a gay ex-boyfriend (Marcus). No mention of the fact she's currently married to a gay man Hmm

Akire · 22/08/2016 00:03

Example of how to try make Maria more interesting bring her back few episodes where you are thinking who's this guy.... Then nothing!

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 22/08/2016 00:14

Pink it looks like they haven't redecorated since the Duckworth's died and Ty just shoved up a few of his car pictures etc. Which is what a lad in his 20s who inherited an older person's house would probably have done.

Housewife2010 · 22/08/2016 07:38

Like Dylan, a friend's husband moved to the NW from Scotland when he was 6 and still has a strong Scottish accent, so I suppose that could be the same with Peter. I'm very pleased the lovely Peter will be returning.
