It's in High Valaryan Cait - lyrics are in the description

Middleoftheroad · 22/06/2016 19:37
This looks at Sansa prophecy. Begins with the 'i dreamt of a maid'
CaitAgusMadra · 22/06/2016 19:50

Thanks Ser Jorah, explains why I couldn't understand it Wink

ClashCityRocker · 22/06/2016 20:13

I've only just made it to the thread, that episode left me reeling, even though it was fairly predictable in some ways.

Love the return of the dragons.

The battle scenes were incredible - normally I find them same old-same old, but I was absolutely stuck to the screen. I felt terrified and my heart was going ten to the dozen, particulalry when ramsay's forces had jon's surrounded and we're moving in with their shields and spears.

Poor Ramsay though. Ok, he totally deserved it but I shall miss his gleeful smile and those eyes.

Gave poor Dh a shock though - after informing I was glum because Ramsay had been eaten to death by hounds, he sprang onto the iPad to check the status of Aaron Ramsay, the Wales striker.....

What next for the wildings though? I can't see them intergrating with westeros, is Jon planning to keep them on the wall? I wonder how the remaining northern lords are going to react - will it be 'yay, the Starks are back' or will it be 'those wildings are ruining are land/raping our women/stealing our horses, what have you done?'

Also be interesting to see what littlefinger wants. He has acted in defiance to the crown, it seems - bearing in mind Cersei still believes Sansa murdered Joffrey, too. It seems an odd thing for him to do.

Middleoftheroad · 22/06/2016 20:21

CLASH The Anatomy of a Battle YouTube video that a PP put up is fascinating. (Lots of Kit and Iwan too oh and David Benioff)

honeyroar · 22/06/2016 20:26

Surely the fact that the wildlings have been seen honourably fighting side by side with Jon will change a few opinions?

PipnPosy · 22/06/2016 20:39

Delurking to say; how many wilding are left?!

TheNorthRemembers · 22/06/2016 20:56

Loads of wildlings are left, just not the ones with Jon. When the Wall falls and the Long Night begins the word wildling will become meaningless.

middle I shall check it out!

honey I don't know - the northern lords didn't seem to have much faith in Jon, Sansa and the wildings prior to the battle.

Pipn probably a good few less than they started with.

I dunno, I find the wilding's motivation a bit odd - Tormund I get because he seems to really like Jon and was Mance's right hand man, so following a strong leader will be something he's used to, but the rest of them were all 'we want to come through the wall, but we won't kneel to anyone and will make our own laws' - and were cursing Jon for taking their sons hostage so he didn't seem to be flavour of the month.

Next thing, they're following him into battle to regain his father's castle (when they don't seem to have anything but disdain for the system of lords etc of westeros) to near certain death (and would have been if the eyrie lot didn't show up)

I need to rewatch I think I've missed something...

caroldecker · 22/06/2016 21:10

I don't think Sansa will be evil - her comment to Ramsey at the end about his dogs were loyal but then you starved them for 7 days, suggests she realises the power of treating people well to retain loyalty.
If Ramsey had been decent to her, she would have been a loyal wife and he would still be warden of the north.

Felascloak · 22/06/2016 21:12

every very interesting. I can't believe the crush scene was unscripted.
I just read about the valonqar and apparently it could be arya. That would be cool.

Felascloak · 22/06/2016 21:12

Sorry wrong link awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Valonqar/Theories

TheNorthRemembers · 22/06/2016 21:34

I was shocked as well that the crush scene would be unscripted. But I can answer easily why Ghost did not follow Jon into battle like Grey Wind supported Robb - they must have blown all the CGI budget on the dragons by then.

Thank you for all the links - I have read and watched them all.

OlennasWimple · 22/06/2016 22:11

I read it that the crush scene was planned, but Jon's exit up into the middle of the throng wasn't

OlennasWimple · 22/06/2016 22:14

Jamie and Brienne both have Valerian steel swords - Jamie gave Brienne hers which was made by smiths at KL

Still not seeing that the Iron Throne is made of Valerian steel, not least given how distinctive it is - surely someone would have clicked the fact by now if it were the case

I reckon Missandrei won't make it out - not sure her story has anywhere to go now

EverySongbirdSays · 22/06/2016 22:37

Iron Throne was forged at the order of Aegon the Conqueror, the first of the Targaryen Kings, who conquered six of the seven independent kingdoms of Westeros and unified them under his rule - the seventh kingdom of Dorne was later joined through a marriage alliance. The throne was allegedly forged from the 1,000 swords that had been surrendered to Aegon in the War of Conquest by the lords who had offered their fealty, though the actual number of the swords is less than two hundred.[1] These were subsequently melted down by the fiery breath of Aegon's dragon, Balerion the Black Dread, then beaten and bent into a throne of imposing appearance.

EverySongbirdSays · 22/06/2016 22:40

So yeah it's made out of Valyrian steel.

Do you mean Missandei (Dany's PA) or Melisandre Oleanna -I don't see why Missandei would leave Dany now, but Melisandre doesn't seem to have a future, unless Jon excuses/accepts what she did to Shireen but I think he'd favour Davos if it came to a choice

If I want to post lots of questions about things that have been nighlibg me, in the hope that someone can provide some answers, should I start a new thread? They're non-episode specific things, like why didn't Margaery have her hair cut before going into the steps for her walk of atonement? Why doesn't Dany fall off the back of the dragon when it's in full flight?

OlennasWimple · 22/06/2016 22:51

I'd meant Dany's PA Smile But they have both run out of steam, beyond the reveal that the red woman is really really old

Is that all Valerian steel is? Steel that has been forged using dragon fire?

EverySongbirdSays · 22/06/2016 22:54

No, you can post here, I love answering questions!!

Margaery

They didn't cut her hair because she wasn't doing the walk. It was a double cross. He had Tommen waiting in the wings to appear to announce that the crown was "with" the Faith Militant.

Dany

Not sure of the physics involved, but one doesn't fall of the back of a horse when it runs/jumps

What else? Grin (too excited0

I wish I could have explaining Thrones as a job.

EverySongbirdSays · 22/06/2016 23:00

OK so Valyrian steel which can kill white walkers used to be made in the Valyrian Freehold and was possibly made by dragons. No more can/has been made because Valyria no longer exists, and for a long time dragons did not exist. As well as this, there is no one left who knows how it was made.

OP posts:
Middleoftheroad · 22/06/2016 23:19

Looks like we might have to rely on Dragon glass then. In the book Dragonstone was rich with it initially - wonder if anymore made it to the mainland. Cant remember in the show if Dragonstone is standing? Maybe Jorah will gather some on his travels through Valyria. I am aware I may have mixed up several theories facts and locations there. Seven hells somebody set me straight on this one!

Middleoftheroad · 22/06/2016 23:21

Oh and Sam's gona blow that walker horn anyway that he found at the fist of the first men.....
