Indoor getting anyone thinks this was in any way disrespectful to Hillsbrough. Yes people were crushed at Hillsbrough and no one will deny that what happened was horrific. But people have died by crushing at all sorts of battles, events, riots etc for centuries. I didn't see someone being crushed in battle and think of one completely unrelated football stadium tragedy.

Anymore than seeing anyone murdered, flayed, butchered or raped makes me think they're implying any link to any real life versions of those crimes.

Back to GoT. I think I need to watch this episode again.

olafisking · 21/06/2016 19:48

Couple of thoughts here. I think that Sansa's 'your name will be wiped out, your house will be wiped out' and Ramsay's 'you can't kill me, I'm part of you' are linked. She is pregnant and she will kill the baby to get rid of her last link to Ramsay. That will be the last act that turns her 'dark Stark'.

But also, a friend of mine spotted 'no one can protect me. No one can protect anyone' and suggested that it could be a reference to Arya, trained assassin and partial Faceless. Might be a bit out there but certainly interesting. Arya is probably the one who balances Sansa's ruthlessness with Jon's empathy/emotion - perhaps she is the one who can bring them back together?

SausageSmuggler · 21/06/2016 19:59

Also, I realise Jaqen H'ghar wasn't in this episode but whenever he comes on screen I get this go through my head. Tell me I'm not the only one because DH thinks I'm weird.

I need to watch it again too CarlGrimes!
I think it's repeated Sunday evening at 9?

PonyoLovesHam · 21/06/2016 20:24

Oh and sorry Sausage, I don't think that GrinConfused

limitedperiodonly · 21/06/2016 20:35

It did make me think of Hillsborough and it might be that the writers thought about that. The fight for justice must have gone worldwide and there are plenty of British people in the production.

But as others have said, crushing incidents in war or accident are common, so I can't imagine anyone involved in Hillsborough would complain or that their complaints would be justified.

I thought Ramsay's army were forcing Jon's army to be crushed because it was easier than fighting them. It makes gruesome sense.

OlennasWimple · 21/06/2016 20:35

I'm watching it again at the moment (I'm in the US, so I have all the seasons on demand to watch as I wish including on my phone at work)

LaBelleOtero · 21/06/2016 21:00

Is there anywhere we can watch all seasons in the UK? I'm trying to go dvd free, but I also want to have a GOT marathon, and it doesn't seem to be any-bloody-where! I was going to get a NowTV box, but apparently they only had the other seasons up for a short while.

AliceInHinterland · 21/06/2016 21:08

TheNorth I love it! I am a terrible pedant so I'm just tarring everyone with my brush. It's an awful habit.
I hope we are not gearing up for Sansa as Queen of the Norff, she has always been so selfish - wasn't it all her idea to try to take back Winterfell anyway?

QueenOfThorns · 21/06/2016 21:42

Although the idea of Sansa being pregnant did cross my mind when Ramsay said what he said, I'm not totally convinced. If Ramsay knew that Sansa was pregnant, he must have found out before she escaped. If that was the case, wouldn't he have mentioned his unborn heir in the Pink Letter?

Wow! Why do I never spot anything like that?!

I still love Lyanna Mormont!

Every We all fall foul of the pedants. My phone has its own opinion about GoT and regularly changes what I write anyway.
I work in publishing, so I am used to it.

That is so good!!! Grin

Jon's probable wish to die was mentioned earlier on the thread an Kit Harrington confirms it. He also mentions how his survival / rebirth after the crush was similar to the Mysha scene. Sorry, if it was posted already.

JamieVardysParty · 21/06/2016 22:07

Not read the books so might be asking a really stupid question here, but with Robb and Rickon gone, Bran presumed dead by everyone and Jon being a bastard, what's stopping Sansa being the Head of the Stark House and Winterfell, a la Lyanna Mormont?

Felascloak · 21/06/2016 22:10

Yes! Thanks thenorth. I think Kit Harrington has acted it all really well this series.

RJnomore1 · 21/06/2016 22:20

I've just seen someone in another thread say Jon is like Neil pie ( the young ones)

😂

TheNorthRemembers · 21/06/2016 22:26

Sansa on her own has no army and is not accepted by the Northern Lords, JamieVardy. When she and Jon did their great tour the general attitude was "Well, you are a bastard and you are just a girl. Are you married to a Lannister or a Bolton? I heard conflicting reports." It is not a stupid question at all. Clearly, Littlefinger puts her in charge of Winterfell, but it will not be the great Stark restoration we were hoping for, as very few bannermen stayed loyal.

TheNorthRemembers · 21/06/2016 22:32
for next week
Middleoftheroad · 21/06/2016 23:10

Thanks The North

I don't think we will see Westeros burn this season though. I think it may end with Tommend dying which will send her over the edge for next season.

God I hope Sansa doesnt marry Robyn , though it could be a wise move on her part. But I just cant see new Sansa marrying another sick fuck. Margarey married each time to further her position and now she holds power. Not sure who was worse - Joff or Ramsay - or could sweet Robyn "bitty" be more sadistic?

I want a satisfying redemption for the Red Wedding. Jaime is smiling in the clip.

NeedACleverNN · 22/06/2016 09:02

Apologies if this has already been posted

hellogiggles.com/one-thing-probably-didnt-notice-daenerys-jon-battle-bastards/?utm_campaign=socialflowfacebook&utm_source=Social&utm_medium=Facebook

An interesting view..

Sunnymeg · 22/06/2016 09:09

I think Sansa will marry Littlefinger and she will learn to manipulate the great manipulator to get what she wants. Littlefinger knows that he was wrong to marry her off to Ramsey and this will be his way of making amends. He will also know that the Lannisters are on the wane and be less concerned about their opinions

Trills · 22/06/2016 09:24

I don't think that Sansa is evil or that she hates JOn.

When she was younger she judged people on appearances and on their ancestry.

Jon was a bastard.

Joffrey was blonde and pretty and the son of the King.

Now she judges people on their actions.

WeDoNotSow · 22/06/2016 09:54

I just don't believe for one second Sansa will be queen in the North.
The amount of foreshadowing for Jon to be King is Unreal. There's a lot

I believe Sansa's role is to take down Littlefinger,

Felascloak · 22/06/2016 10:00

Interesting articles there need. I didn't notice the shield. It brings another parallel between Jon and Dany - both are being protected by Mormonts. I like it.

Felascloak · 22/06/2016 10:07

sow I think Jon is Azor Ahai and he's going to defeat the walkers but not be king. I think Dany will end up as ruler of at least part of the 7 kingdoms. Hopefully with Yara and Margery.
I'm not sure what Sams significance is but it might be to do with figuring out what they can do with Valyrian steel and how they can make more of it to defeat the walkers.
