Embarrassingly pixie, I know who he is..... too much time watching day time TV, obviously, but he is some antiques guy. I've seen him on that program where the antiques people have to buy stuff and sell it to their mates (or whoever, I'm sure it's their friends!) and make the most profit. So, there you go! Our girl who is on her Contiki tour before Uni in Leeds is all over the news media here because she has been caught up in the Nice truck murders...which is what they are! I feel totally helpless and very worried.
I gather they are in their hotel and staying out of harm's way. If any of you are interested, Google Alice Houghton and New Zealand Herald.
I feel sick at the moment. Apparently they had been in their Contiki bus to Monaco to eat and were on their way home. Missed the disaster by about 5 minutes

My neighbour and I have booked a short break to Nice earlier this week for October. Just goes to show it can happen anywhere and at any time. I don't think any group has claimed responsibility yet?????

Glad she's ok kuia. It's awful though, such sad, depressing news It's hard not to despair sometimes.

Sounds like it was a lone person which makes it so difficult to prevent. However, I tell my kids that although you should do everything sensible to keep yourself safe and take advice when it is given at the end of the day you have to go out and live your life and you musn't let fear stop you.

So glad she is ok kuia. Sounds awful but staying away from watching the news at the moment. All seems so horrid.

Thanks, everyone. Alice is a great girl and we have all told our families exactly what you said Rhu. Kiwis have always loved to travel and the European OE is almost obligatory for our young people. We live so far away that its easy to get complacent and inwards looking so we love to go exploring the world.
It just comes as abit of a shock when a loved youngster pops up on the news describing first hand what is happening during such a terrible massacre.
