Just saw a lovely trailer, it starts on 26th May. Can't wait

That press release makes me think the undertone is "Patrick was paid more than me and I wanted more money"

BurningGubbins · 18/05/2016 09:42

I caught up with this last night. A good start I thought but so much of what they made was frumpy in the alteration challenge and the skirt-making one. Esme is a good addition I reckon.

SunnyL · 18/05/2016 09:53

I just caught up as well. To be honest I wasn't a massive fan of May. I found her a bit dull so I'm loving Esme who seems very mischievous.

I loved that pencil skirt with peplum - has anyone seen a pattern like it? I'm contemplating buying the Series book in case it's in there

SheHasAWildHeart · 18/05/2016 14:11

Am glad that lady won Garment of the Week after that man winning both first two challenges - don't like it when it's a one-horse race.
I thought the way Duncan took ages to get everything precise in the first round showed more potential than Tracey who did the chevron chevron shirt extremely quickly sat there drinking tea and turned out her pattern didn't match.

dillite · 18/05/2016 16:21

Sunny here's a slightly similar pattern to the one used on the show. Although it might be quite easy to add a bottom frill yourself to a normal pencil skirt pattern?

Dilitte ah yes hadn't thought of Hand. It's definitely a ruffle tho rather than a peplum isn't it. I know I could self draft a peplum but it requires maths - I've got a 7 week old DD and my brain is too fried to do maths right now Blush

VikingLady · 18/05/2016 22:34

It's inspired me to finally get round to starting the girls shirred dress from last year Grin

VikingLady · 18/05/2016 22:34

There doesn't seem to be anything from the Mighty Monkseal this series though.

Coldtoeswarmheart · 18/05/2016 22:39

Could be, Soup. Found myself wondering if she was unwell TBH. Though seeing Edna Esme I wonder if she was bumped for someone a bit more telly? Whatever happened, hope she's OK, bless her.

schbittery · 18/05/2016 23:38

WTF has happened to Patrick!

he used to look so dapper, now he looks like the snoring, unshaven other half you find next to you on the sofa when this is on.

SoupDragon · 19/05/2016 10:07

I wouldn't mind finding him snoring next to me on my sofa...

Coldtoeswarmheart · 22/05/2016 16:04

Just spotted a batwing top in Love Sewing magazine which seems to be a Sewing Bee pattern, on the website. Does anyone have the magazine, is it a current series pattern and what's the size range? Ta Smile

SoupDragon · 22/05/2016 16:35

It appears to be from series 4 and size 8-20.

You can download the template from the love sewing web page.

SoupDragon · 22/05/2016 16:36

If you go here and scroll down, it's the Japanese Top I think.

Coldtoeswarmheart · 22/05/2016 17:07

Thanks Smile looks interesting, I might buy the mag for the instructions too.

fortifiedwithtea · 23/05/2016 18:34

Challenge is a babygro tonight and someone gets the gusset in the wrong place Confused

IMHO the contestants need to take 5 minutes to read the pattern thoroughly before diving in.

I would not like to be on the show. I machine in bare feet, not a good look.

dillite · 23/05/2016 20:58

I machine in bare feet as well- I can't feel the pedal in footwear. Even the socks get in the way.

Speaking of sewing, what chairs do you all use? I had a massive office chair in my old house, which was super comfy. But it doesn't fit up the stairs in the new house so I had to buy a new one- one of those Eames reproductions, but it feels a bit plasticky and fragile under my enormous arse.

dillite · 23/05/2016 21:02

Oooh! I made a cape for my DD last winter! She refused to wear it though Sad

dillite · 23/05/2016 21:09

Where is everyone?

HalsallRedux · 23/05/2016 21:10

I'm watching!

dillite · 23/05/2016 21:12

Phew! It's not just me and tumbleweeds after all.

HalsallRedux · 23/05/2016 21:14

I tend to sew in stocked feet - I was just saying to dh that no way could I wear great big boots like that bloke a moment ago.

HalsallRedux · 23/05/2016 21:15

Stocked? Socked Grin

Jellykat · 23/05/2016 21:15

I'm watching too

dillite · 23/05/2016 21:17

All of them seem to know how to use an overlocker. I would have no idea where to even begin.
