I had an end of season footy function for middle DS last night - felt really old sipping my sweet sherry whilst watching the 16-year-olds getting drunker than me. Naturally my DS re-acquainted himself with strawberry Koppaberg and had to be helped into the car at closing time He's currently moping around still in pjs feeling sorry for himself, so I've switched the Hoover on and the radio up, tee hee

Yes, rhu I had a lie in this morning so as long as the kids don't drain me of the will to live by 7, I should be good to go tonight. Yes for the Koppaberg woof. Its my second favourite drink after my favourite Malibu and lemonade.

I was going to get the car washes this morning too but I thought that would be definately tempting rain!

I'm ironing while DD does some dishes but she's yet to learn the art of getting the dishes completely clean. I'll have to redo them later most likely, bless her.

Yes kel there was a buffit as my nan used to call it, but if you'd seen the lady in charge of making the vol-au-vents as wrinkly as Harry Potters talking hat with the same leathery complexion you'd have given it the wide berth I did. God bless non-league football, I love sitting there marvelling at the empty trophy cabinet that's full of cobwebs and the pictures of the men's team circa 1976 in their "glory" days.

Its a running joke between me and DH woof that if there's a buffet on at somewhere we're at, I've gotta be first in the queue. Although I agree vol-au-vants have never been a food of choice. However toad in the hole is right up there - so to speak.

Had a lovely day weather has been gorgeous but peeing it down now. Luckily log cabin is very cosy. Did a forest walk earlier and then a pub lunch and walk along the river to celebrate mini mads 1st birthday. Off to have fruity cider a la woofs DS! Ooh and I do like a finger buffet

Sympathies to MrK about his mother, I have one of those. When I told her I got a 2:1 she said "shame it wasn't a First". I don't care what her opinion is any more because it will never be positive.

Enjoy the rest of your break mads and make the most of little DSs early years. In another 15 you'll be dragging him home from pubs and cleaning up vomit...in fact the vomit part never stops until they leave home actually

I find it strange that there are mothers who are negative about everything. My eldest DD accuses me of doing the opposite by always looking for the positives and the bright side and gets thoroughly annoyed if I talk positively about anything she considers to be the opposite in terms of her achievements. Although I naturally tend towards pessimism I consider it my role to make the best out of everything as far as the kids are concerned and she hates me saying anything. If , however, I said something like "that wasn't very good," she'd be mortally offended and the only course left is to say nothing at all which seems very unsupportive - who said this parenting lark was easy!

Aw that's lovely rhu that you try to make the best of everything. . My Mum is quite a negative person (a bit of a born worrier) but for happy things, she really lets some happiness show. For some reason with MIL, I find it quite galling and needless when shes like that with DH and me some of the time. But I could write a book with all the BS she's dished out to me over the years. Hey-ho.

Hugs pix. I did terrible in my GCSEs and my Mum ignored me for a week as she was so disappointed in me which hurt at the time but I did let myself down as I hardly revised and was more interested in Scrumpy Jack!

Evening all. Been really busy today. Plants all ready and labelled for our sale on Wednesday, a couple of pots planted up for the summer, bike ride, vinyl flooring looked at for the new bathroom, several meals made for the freezer, Mr Pixie's ham for tea (and some given to my next door neighbour for his tea too), bike ride and greenhouse tidied. Totally kn......d now but having a spa day in the Lakes tomorrow with my friend (the one who had the financial problems) for her birthday so apart from driving up there, it will be a more relaxing day.

Very hot and humid here today - so different to last week when again I was up in the Lakes and there was snow on the mountains!

Got one of my colleagues calling tomorrow night to help transport some of the plants in to work. I get the impression he might not be too happy about it but when I asked, he probably didn't like to say no as it would appear mean and uncharitable. I think I should give a quick dash round with the hoover in case he thinks I am a total slob!

kelly very mean if MIL! There's always someone that will deflate you when you have good news. My MIL has that knack too! It's DH birthday this week and we have a party next Saturday eve. I'm dreading her going around talking to our friends as God only knows what she will say!

I went to the Vogue Exhibition yesterday at the Portrait Gallery. I was well worth it. Ratio of Kate Moss to other models was high! Her photos are stunning, and you always see her drinking, smoking and late nights in the press... There's hope for us ????!!!!

Like your DS woof my DS was out last night with the girls he works with at the kennels. He dragged in last night, telling me he wasn't drunk, fell up the stairs and more chatty than ever. Then at 4am this morning I've been up hearing him being sick

Morning all. Lovely day here again though it rained a bit overnight. Off for my spa day in about an hour.

Kelly your buffet comments remind me of my late godmother. When I arranged a surprise party for my parents' golden wedding, she came back the next day to scrounge the leftovers! As it happened, there wasn't a lot left. Because I'd enlisted her help in collecting the cake, she seemed to think it gave her the right to take the leftovers! She was such a greedy woman, especially in later life.

MrP's family are big buffet fans. It's a standing joke between us that they consider a buffet as a challenge.

Gorgeous day here, I will be spending it at Lazerquest with a bunch of 5-9 year olds . I'm very jealous of your spa day ilove.

Really sunny here today. DD is swimming with her Dad this morning while I'm washing yet again. I need to get DDs birthday presents today as I'm away at the memorial service when her actual birthday is but I don't think I'll have time. I'll try and do it during the week.

Knackered this morning. Stayed up late to watch the new OL episode. That'll teach me.
