Liking that one pix, thank you. Just had a quick look on iplayer. Definitely not fanciable as the earl of whatnot! Off I fck to watch the 2014 Christmas special or any of the other eps I still have stored on my TV, eek!

Rhubarb01 · 11/06/2016 21:49

Evening, couldn't post as was watching Musketeers on the laptop whilst Football on TV.

It was hard to get beyond the hair with Nick Medhurst but like you pix I just listened. I really hate Constance's outfit - she looks scary and frumpy at the same time although D'Artagnan seems to like the thought of all that leather and studs next to his bare flesh. As for the woman who told Aramis she was choosy - she clearly needs specs! I'm guessing that Queenie's heart is all aflutter (I've seen the write up for next week as the Radio Times was not up-to-date because of the delay last week) Still I can't blame her for it seeing as she's married to Laurence Llwellyn Bowen. Gosh it really was a bad hair century.

Ilovelblue · 11/06/2016 21:50

Nickel you were the one who introduced me to Bluestone 42! Nick Medhurst was nice but didn't float my boat in the same way as CJ did. I think after CJ, Richard Rankin and now Luke whatsit come up reasonably close.

Also, do you realise we're meeting up the week after next? I'll text you later.

icemistOBE · 12/06/2016 08:59

Thanks for new thread pix.

I missed last nights musketeers with the football. Going to watch it during the week

Filming again this weekend (today) in Manchester. Not sure if indoor or outdoor and I haven't a clue where lol!

Anyone done the tour of Buckingham Palace? What do you see?
K wants to go, I'm not overly bothered. But maybe because I don't know what you actually see.

ice I've not been to Buckingham Palace but I've been to Windsor and Holyrood and am just wondering whether it's all a bit too much for a 6 year old (is that right) to take in. There's a lot of history to absorb and his attention may wander a bit?? I would suggest the Royal Mews (not sure if it's open every day though, it never used to be) and he can see the Coronation Coach and various other modes of transport plus the horses in their stables. There are also the guards on horseback at Horse Guards' Parade or even Changing the Guard which may appeal more to a little boy?

Nickel45 · 12/06/2016 23:20

I'm not sure I'd bother with Buckingham palace ice, tbh. Although it's worth seeing from outside if you are passing. And the changing of the guards is worth watching. If you are thinking of heading out of London at all, I'd say Windsor castle, and catching the changing of the guards outside the castle there is a better bet, but I'm guessing it's a fair train ride out. I've not actually taken my kids to London (too close!!, and I can't bear the tube) but there are lots of nice parks centrally. Apparently St. James park has Pelicans. Which you can see being fed .... I'm sure the details will be on line somewhere. The museum of London, which is Blackfriars (I think) is really good, depending on what you and littlie like. I went to the Tower of London years ago, which was good, but over priced, I'd say, also probaby not enough to keep littlie interested for the amount of time you'd have to stay there, to justify the ticket price ... If that makes sense! When are you down this way?

pixieg1rl · 13/06/2016 07:44

Not in any way Royal, but if he needs a break from all the sight seeing them I recommend Coram's Fields which is a lovely area to let him play www.coramsfields.org/?q=visit/getting-here

Near the British Museum if you're going there, and free. Alternatively as nickel says, the parks as well. If he's anything like mine a bit of time outside off the leash makes him easier to handle.

cjwoofwoof · 13/06/2016 09:15

Morning! Sound advice re London there ice - just be careful I would say, parts of London now are wild so stick to tourist spots only.

Ooh Deacon and Gunnar from Nashville are on BBC breakfast. Gunnar is British! From Penzance. Must say Deacon actor is looking mighty fine. There's going to be a Nashville concert tour apparently, and S4 will be on Sky Living later this summer. Final series Sad

Hmm just had a thought ice what about the new Shrek attraction in London? Everybody loves Shrek!

Richtea19 · 13/06/2016 12:38

Yippe Nashville is back!!!
I've been waiting on that one. I love gunner!!
I did look at the concert dates and think they are all sold out all ready!

icemistOBE · 13/06/2016 13:48

Thank you ladies!

We're going to skip Buck Palace, maybe if the Royal Mews but I think by time we do open top bus and hopped off a few times he will be shattered.

Want to make it a fun couple days and the open top bus do a children's activity pack which should be fun to do.

He's never seen Shrek lol!

Me and hubby want to do Harry Potter world- so looking into that for his birthday later in year

cjwoofwoof · 13/06/2016 15:29

Never seen Shrek?????!!!! You've led a sheltered life ice Grin

I did Harry Potter World in October last year with my DSs who are big HP fans - a tad over-rated IMO - merely a money-spinning cashing-in dumping ground for leftover scenery and costumes if you ask me. They try to make out it was used as a filming studio but I took that with a pinch of salt as the place wasn't even built until the later films. Overpriced too. Re-mortgage your house before entering the Ye Olde Gifte Shoppe. Want a replica wand? That's £26 please. Bertie Botts Beans? £10+ How about a Gryffindor Hoodie? £65. Don't even go there with a genuine Wizards Chess Set unless you want to put zeroes on your credit card. The cafe? £4 for a plastic coffee cup sized Butter Beer which is foul. I dread to think what the food cost as I wouldn't let my boys have anything stingy cow Ooh yes they know how to charge. And of course the foreign tourists (esp Japanese) lap it up and pay up.

The main hall is good but you are herded in and out in groups (like in Disney) and only allowed a few minutes to wander before the next crowd swarm in. Always busy. Knee deep in people all huddling round the same film set scene that you're trying to look at. Expect to pay extra for green screen broomstick flying dvd and talking headphones etc. You won't have much change out of £200 for 3 hours of tedium.

And there endeth the ripoff ...

pixieg1rl · 13/06/2016 15:53

I hope you left that review on trip advisor woof Grin

MaddieMoo82 · 13/06/2016 16:26

Brilliant woof. Can we send you other places for more reviews Smile

cjwoofwoof · 13/06/2016 16:35

Ha! Get out of town you two - that was me with my serious head on. Now let's get back to openly leering at and objectifying a certain Captain...I'm good at that Grin

Onlygirljen · 13/06/2016 17:04

Oh Christ, I'm meant to be going to HP in October with both of mine, do I need to sell a kidney first?!? Tickets were already extortionate!

cjwoofwoof · 13/06/2016 17:36

Yep jen even selling your body on Boots Corner will leave you 20 quid short of a cuddly Dobbie Grin

Onlygirljen · 13/06/2016 18:13

Ugh, it's like Thomas Land all over again without the pervy undertones Confused

Ilovelblue · 13/06/2016 18:32

woof I know it's different to HP but I had very similar views of Highclere Castle aka Downton Abbey. 99% of people were there because of Downton but you got to see only a few of the rooms and the snooty staff claimed it was a home not a film set and almost looked down their noses when people mentioned Downton.

I did put that on Tripadvisor.

pixieg1rl · 13/06/2016 18:56

I don't know Jen, you could be walking round HP world and not be able to stop thinking about Laurielove pervy ff Blush

Rhubarb01 · 13/06/2016 19:02

Evening. Funnily enough we visited HP World last October as well Woof. Were you the Dementor who scared me witless as I was nosying at the array of wigs on display?

Speaking as someone who has only every seen one film all the way through and read the first book to DD when she was young, I wasn't as caught up in it all as some but nevertheless knew enough to enjoy it. I think the important thing is the the fact that it's called the Making of Harry Potter as there's a lot of emphasis on the film making process and the trades and skills involved which was quite interesting and my eldest DD particularly liked the scale model of Hogwarts, strangely enough.

I have to agree that the gift shop is pricey and we didn't really get anything in there but on the whole I think it was quite good. Cost wise it was about the same at Legoland and I hated that and thought it was a complete waste of money and didn't see why you should have to pay an extra £10 per person (as it was then) to jump the queues and make everyone else wait longer!

Rhubarb01 · 13/06/2016 19:10

I'll finish off the thread here by saying, I'm famous in my house as the person who whispered to DD during the first half hour of the only HP film I watched at the cinema, "who's the bloke with no nose?".

See you all over on the next thread.

pixieg1rl · 13/06/2016 19:10

I love Legoland rhu, we're planning on going again this year. I'm too tight fisted to pay for those queue jumping things though.
