Happily ensconced in our Centre Parcs lodge. Wine fridge, whirlpool bath and a private sauna. Mind you everything is so new and shiny am compelled to wipe the place down all the time which is why I don't have a modern shiny house.

Kids are showing no signs of going to sleep though Confused

Richtea19 · 30/05/2016 20:54

kelly sorry to hear about your mums cat :( hopefully there are plenty of fun memories to focus on.

pix lucky you on a centre parc break, watch out on those flumes, lost bikini bottoms and bruises down your back!!! I would be temped to stay in the jacuzzi all week!!

We have had another trip to wicks today... The saga that is the bathroom, which seems to have turned into a house re build. It would probably be easier to move or knock the whole lot down! Anyway bank holiday so wine is in order! WineWine

So sorry about your Mum's cat Kelly. What Rhubarb said is absolutely true though and she should be thankful that the cat didn't suffer at all. Sometimes I think we have more compassion for our animals than our fellow human beings. After so long, the pet is simply a part of the family. I remember having to run out of the vet when I had to have my 18 year old cat put down. It's heartbreaking. I was off work that day with a migraine because I'd cried so much.

What brilliant weather we've had this bank holiday. Much better than usual.

My Duke of Edinburgh schoolboy was a pleasure to work with. He hadn't a clue about gardening but caught on pretty quickly. I was expecting a typical monosyllabic soon-to-be-15 year old but he was a surprisingly chatty individual. I've said I'll go back in about 3 weeks to see how things are progressing.

You sound well sorted pixie!

Back to work tomorrow but at least it's a nice short week.

Ilovelblue · 30/05/2016 22:21

Richtea any estimate of when the work will be finished?

Heligirl79 · 30/05/2016 23:07

Sorry to hear about your mums cat kelly

Another rubbish day weather wise here, I'm in East Anglia ilove. The wind is starting to get up now, I'm meant to be running a forest school session tomorrow morning, but I may have to cancel it if its too windy, or we have the heavy rain they are forecasting.

MaddieMoo82 · 31/05/2016 08:07

Morning all. Bloody lovely weather again... 4 days in a row must be a miracle!!
kelly sorry to here about your mums cat and really hope DS is better.
Enjoy centre parcs pix hope your fully stocked with alcohol to get you through! Hope the weather stays good for you.

rich hope the bathroom refit becomes less stressful for you, I'm sure it will be worth it in the end.

Ooh heli forest school?! I wanna come!! Smile

Dropped a hideously grumpy DS at my parents house and am now sat in my car at work. Feel a bit guilty but looking forward to hot coffee and an uninterrupted lunch break Shock. Have a good Tuesday everyone Smile

Ilovelblue · 31/05/2016 08:13

Lovely day again. Shame to have to go to work but in light of recent announcements at work, I guess I should be thankful to have a job.

For once I think the west coast is enjoying the better weather Maddie?

My intrepid tree climbing cat is on my bed and has been threatened with the local cats' home if he does anything stupid today.

Enjoy yourselves those on half term holiday this week.

pixieg1rl · 31/05/2016 08:37

Ooh, whereabouts in EA heli? I'd love DS to do more forest school stuff, my nephew does it every week and loves it.

moojangles · 31/05/2016 10:13

Sorry to hear about your Mum's cat kelly and I hope all is ojay with your littlie.
What is forest school as it sounds great? Can I go with your DS pix? Good luck confining your explorer cat to quarters.
I need advice again!!! Following the mani:pedi debate I am treating myself to that this week. DH is currently acting up a rank & had just rung to say I need to get a dress for the ball. Really, really not my thing/what shops should I be looking at? Help?!?!

pixieg1rl · 31/05/2016 10:20

That's so far beyond my sphere of expertise mooj. I'm sure someone glamorous will come along soon to advise. John Lewis in Cambridge always have a selection at this time of year for college balls, I wonder if Oxford would be the same?

moojangles · 31/05/2016 10:23

so with you pix, I was already stressing at having to get a suit for work!!! Have to book a hair appointment now as bunging it in a ponytail is my limit!

pixieg1rl · 31/05/2016 10:35

What about dress hire?

moojangles · 31/05/2016 10:36

Good call!

MaddieMoo82 · 31/05/2016 10:40

Or try coast mooj quite expensive but lovely dresses.

Richtea19 · 31/05/2016 12:11

mooj try JL as normally have all the makes, coast, Phase Eight, Reiss etc. That way you don't have to do all the shops and keep getting undressed!! Good luck though, the thought evening dress shopping frightens the living day lights out of me!

Ilovelblue · 31/05/2016 16:49

mooj I can share your fears. I've had to have evening wear a handful of times when I've had formal nights on cruises and as I'm not particularly tall, I've managed to avoid long dresses (which would always need shortening anyway) and go for a cocktail length but I am guessing this would be a "proper" long dress?

Richtea has a very good suggestion. Debenhams (well, the bigger ones) do some evening wear too. I know of somebody who found what she wanted in Coast then looked online - I have a feeling they have an eBay outlet. Quite a few stores do stuff via eBay outlets.

eBay itself is another possibility if you have enough time to look properly (ie, it's not next week is it).

A dress agency? Something you could buy full price but then resell?

Any of those ideas any good to you?

moojangles · 31/05/2016 17:13

You ladies are brilliant!

Ilovelblue · 31/05/2016 18:44

You could also request a personal shopper? I think they work on commission so I don't think you have to feel forced into buying if you don't like her suggestions.

Richtea19 · 31/05/2016 19:35

I bought a dress for DH 50th via eBay. It was a Reiss dress would of cost 190 plus full price and I got for 40.00!! I guess you need to know your sizing etc. But I love Reiss but just can't afford it! For that price plus sticking it in the dry cleaners is worth it. I can spend a whole eve on eBay, just need OH back to start "idyl googling" Wink

pixieg1rl · 31/05/2016 19:36

I read that as you bought the dress for your husband rich and thought was a brilliantly supportive wife you were.

cjwoofwoof · 31/05/2016 19:47

I can send you one of orphs spangly sequinned numbers that she "acquired" when working as Danny la Rue's chief dresser if you like mooj She won't be needing it any more since she rediscovered elasticated beige crimpelene trousers Grin

moojangles · 31/05/2016 19:48

Got to be full length which will be the trauma as I am so short!! Going dress buying on Sat and not coming home til I have one. Shoot me now!

pixieg1rl · 31/05/2016 19:57

Hope you've packed some Kendal mint cake for your expedition mooj.

moojangles · 31/05/2016 20:02

Sold woof, can I have the crimplene too?!

cjwoofwoof · 31/05/2016 20:08

No probs mooj happy to help. I'll check for Sterodent and Camp coffee stains first though, otherwise the fellow officers wives will know you're in hand-me-down.
