Our tour guide was great, slightly eccentric! Because it was a Capability Garden Tour it was just open for that so not a Downton tour (although we did tour the house) there were just 15 or so people so the guide showed us into each room and told us about the art, family history and filming of Downton. She chatted about the filming and was really quite gushing about it which was fun!

We had a lecture about Brown and his gardens, really fascinating (if you are into gardens!) and then a walk. It stayed dry to. We got a lunch in with the day.

And yes quite lot of Americans !

Morning. Lovely morning here and the start of the beer festival week, the highlight of MrP's year. Busy week for me at work plus I'm going to RHS Chelsea as well. I'll be flipping knackered by Friday.

Morning! Just read an article about the bodice ripper Versailles coming soon to bbc2. No expense spared on authentic clothes and wigs at £3500 a time apparently. Looks worthy of an ogle of all the romping historical study whilst waiting for those other excuses to bare bums historically accurate Poldark/Musketeers/Uhtred to come back to us

Morning. Sorry been MIA lately. Hubby has been off work with work-related stress for a month. Been a bit rubbish lately. On the plus he has started a new job today so hoping this is the boost he needs.

Looking forward to Versailles I believe a 2nd series has already been made. Hoping it fills the void. Musketeers starts back this weekend I think. Looking forward to it.

Despite OG being filmed in Manchester I've yet to spot anyone as I travel through on my way to work Though I think they are around for another 5-6 weeks, so I might be lucky

pixie incredibly jealous of your trip to Chelsea. I've often fancied doing it but it works out expensive as from Lancashire, you would really need an overnight stay and the train. We do Tatton instead - about 35 miles away. That's in July.

Well, I had to look ice after that and I'm not going to say anything that would spoil it for anyone who doesn't want to know but I have a theory about where it fits in the story - I'll just have to wait and see if I'm right or not. I still reckon they know full well that these pics are going to get in the press and it's part of the pre-publicity keeping up the interest until the autumn. On the other hand it could just be some snooper with a long lens!

ooh forgot to say I'm rather excited about the Musketeers returning although the time slot is bizarre - 9.30 pm on a Saturday. I didn't think anyone put stuff out on a Saturday evening if they wanted people to watch it - but not being one of the Saturday night party crowd it will do nicely for me. I've really missed a bit of swash and buckle and it's a vast improvement on MOTD!

With my last comment in mind I assume that the producers obviously believe the Musketeers is watched by women of a certain'awkward' age whose social lives disappeared once chlldren came onto the scene - sounds about right!

Excited for musketeers too! And yes rhu that's probably right about Saturday nights. Although it's a bit of an effort for me to stay awake past 10pm now. If they put OG in that time slot I'll have to drink a lot of coffee beforehand so I'm guaranteed not to miss anything! Ooh your theory sounds intriguing as well, I'll be interested to see whether it came true when the series starts.

Hope MrIce had a good first day ice and the fresh start is what he needs.

I'm up for another watch alongice but I'm still wondering if the Beeb might do a midweek repeat for the last OG series during the summer - possibly post 10.30 pm news time in the holidays when things are a bit quiet as it will be almost two years since it was broadcast and would lead nicely into a new series in the autumn. Well that's what I'd do if I had control of the schedules - fat chance I suppose!

How's the bathroom chaos Richtea? My decorator has been here today and has made good inroads into the changes in the hall plus the undercoating in the bathroom. I am hoping by the weekend, I will be back to normal and several thousand pounds lighter! Thank God it's not something you do every couple of years!!
