Other one massive!

What was that about Jackie's parents coming into the house?? What were they like?

Shilpa, awful, horrible stuck up woman. Must go. Leo, slimy, up himself, childish. Must go.

Didn't watch last night. Fill me in!

tinkerbellie · 16/01/2007 10:56

to be fair jo did stick up for shilpa when danille was having a go at her the other day

quadrophenia · 16/01/2007 10:57

can someone give me an overview of what is happening, watched trial and retribution instead

dotcotton · 16/01/2007 11:02

I'm listening to Vanessa Feltz on BBC London, they are discussing this subject and have had more calls and emails than ever this morning, 90 percent of them are revolted and are pretty definite about this being a combination of racism and bullying. And 2000 people have now complained to Ofcom, about racism. So it's not really just a matter of liking or disliking Shilpa.

LieselVentouse · 16/01/2007 11:03

Lets talk about Jermain, isnt he lovely and he could have joined a pack but instead he's neutral. Im liking him, maybe not as much as I like Cleo.

LieselVentouse · 16/01/2007 11:04

I do think that it is very much racism but I dont like being classed rascist just cause I dont care for her. Shes certainly not as bad as the rest of them in there - except of course for Cleo

No, he's all serene and all and i was getting to like him,but he's the only person who any of those chumps seem to have any respect for, and he should use that position a bit more wisely, he could just so easily take them aside and point out how their behaviour is coming across.. he and Cleo should both speak out.

ledodgy · 16/01/2007 11:06

here jools scroll down

LieselVentouse · 16/01/2007 11:07

I think if anybody asked Jermaine for his honest opinion then he would give it but he wont shout out about it if not required - hes a good guy.

JoolsToo · 16/01/2007 11:12

thanks ledodge

LieselVentouse · 16/01/2007 11:21

Just noticed Brandy7. Whats not to get?

ipanemagirl · 16/01/2007 11:27

I've been hearing some of the radio debates and I've missed the programmes but I do think it's important when English people are called racist - which is a very serious accusation - we should at the same time mention that Indian society is abominably discriminatory - the caste system anyone? Untouchables? And apparently if you're black and you visit India you are treated very unpleasantly. So just for the record we should remember how many cultures of the world treat different people badly. These girls may well just be reflecting the nastiness and innate racism in our culture but I'd rather live in England than India any day if my decision was based on how discriminating my society was!

quadrophenia · 16/01/2007 11:31

why should we mention how rascist Indian society is? it has no bearing on the current debate at all. I for one am arguing about individuals attitudes not attitudes of certain races.

LieselVentouse · 16/01/2007 11:33

I dont think its a case of racism I think its a case of different classes and different cultures. I think if I was in the house I would find it very hard to get on with Jade and Danielle cause theyre not my kind of people and are aggresive (I dont like aggression on here or anywhere) I think I would also find it hard to get on with Shilpa just cause shes a bit over-the-top.

ClareL · 16/01/2007 11:38

I just think Danielle is a very young and narrow minded little girl. She is leading the group against Shilpa. Every time somebody tries to say something remotely nice about Shilpa she is pulling her sulky face and moaning about. I think the girls have run out of stuff to talk about and have therefore found a happy medium in discussing Shilpa. Feel sorry for them all in a way as they have no way of knowing how people are so against them now on the outside. I hope Teddy Sheringham is watching Danielle on the tv. He's a 40 yr old man with a son on Danielle's age (or maybe a bit younger). It must be like watching your daughter on the tv - she seems so immature. I'm glad that Shilpa seems to be able to rise above it. Probably all to do with her upbringing and religion - she seems a very mature and level headed woman. She deserves to stay in the house a lot longer than the other 3. They have all become very boring to watch. Danielle is dragging them all down with her.

LieselVentouse · 16/01/2007 11:49

This is turning into the worst BB ever

AitchTwoOh · 16/01/2007 11:52

i think some people are just frightened of the word racist. no reason to be, it's the behaviour that's frightening, not the word.

if you dislike someone because they come from a culture foreign to your own, then you're being racist. especially if they're indian and you call them a paki.

AitchTwoOh · 16/01/2007 11:52

amen, lvt. how's the BP this morning? are you up the duff, by the way?

ipanemagirl · 16/01/2007 11:53

I agree ClareL - they are revealing themselves to be immature, ignorant and unpleasant people. I think Shilpa from what I've seen a day or so ago - seems far more dignified and obviously shouldn't be treated badly or picked on.
Re racism in India - I think it's only relevant because we are so touchy about racism in this country and are constantly accusing everybody of it. Now I think racism is terrible but it dilutes the force of the argument if every bit of cultural offensiveness is called racism - it's just lazy of us to do so. Racism is inherent in our culture imo - and I think that is very bad but I don't really think these pretty ignorant young women are profoundly racist - not in the sense of pre-apartheid South Africa or the southern American States or India itself which has extreme prejudice embedded in their society. What I mean is: Shilpa will be used to a social scene based on extreme prejudice - and I'm sure it will feel horrible for her - but nothing like as horrible as being an Untouchable in India. I make the comparison for the sake of perspective only. The UK is not as terrible as it is painted by its own people!

LieselVentouse · 16/01/2007 11:56

Hi Aitch - yes how did you guess.
I think a lot of people (on this thread especially) are keen to throw the rascist word about if you say you dont like someone. I dont really like Shilpa regardless of where shes from - I dislike her because shes v. actressy thats all. I cant stand the others either - APART FROM CLEO. Jermains lovely too.

AitchTwoOh · 16/01/2007 12:06

to be fair, there was a pretty shocking bit of cultural stereotyping going on earlier... not from you obv. not to say anyone here has been racist but if you dabble in lazy stereotypes it's the thin end of the wedge afaic.
and i think that the behaviour of the goody clan and hangers on is middle end of the wedge stuff... i'm sure each would vehemently deny being racists and they'd be very upset. but i do think their behaviour stems from a belief that 'different' is 'lesser' and that's a racist belief in the making.

LieselVentouse · 16/01/2007 12:14

I wasnt so much talking about the Jade camp - who obviousky have a problem - I was more concerned on here that everytime I say something about Shilpa I am branded rascist by people who dont even know me.
