Corrie thread - How many more implausible plots until the new person takes over? NO SPOILERS PLEASE

AnneEyhtMeyer · 03/04/2016 20:03

Have started a new thread as the old one was nearly full and people wanted a "No spoilers" message in the title.

Are we placing too much hope in the new producer? How the hell are they going to get out of the plot holes?

I read the other day that the Les Battersby actor was seen at the studios. I am hoping that was a bad-taste April Fool's joke.

OP posts:

The Ken and Audrey/Freddie thing is just like the Eileen and Michael/Phelan thing. Such imagination!!!

LineyReborn · 04/04/2016 21:08

That wedding planning storyline is ridiculous.

As is the Sally planning story. Councillors really aren't allowed to ring their colleagues on the planning committee for personal favours, and Cllr Stephens would tell her to do one. Although a story where Sally gets taken to the Standards Committee and slung off the Council might be finally accurate for once fun.

And Robert finally doesn't quite like Tracey any more. It only took a few deaths / threats of blackmail / lies / deceptions, but I think he's slowly going off her a bit.

SavoyCabbage · 04/04/2016 21:14

As if Michelle would become a wedding planner with her critical and miserable personality. Sucking the joy out of any situation.

southeastdweller · 04/04/2016 21:15

I found it weird that Michelle and Liz didn't mention their big argument from last week.

LineyReborn · 04/04/2016 21:20

I think Michelle would be more suited to the Undertaking world, yes.

BoGrainger · 04/04/2016 21:39

Far too clunky tonight.
Sally and neighbour (can't think of her name), a pathetic attempt at humour by moving the border, cue Sally making predictable noises about getting the council involved. And the 'pillars of the community' squabble. Sally's pompousness isn't funny at the moment!

Wedding planning misery. Who cares? And bloody Liz. You lied to me. You LIED to me. YOU LIED to me. Yes, we get the message Liz, now shut up.

Robert's head must be spinning with Tracey's logic, I know mine is. I think her character is spent now, her self-destruction and bitterness are just repeated time after time and I'm surprised the actor herself isn't fed up with it all by now.

southeastdweller · 04/04/2016 22:08

Sean was even more annoying than usual tonight and looking gaunt.

I tuned out with the Sally and Yazmeen scenes, the story is unfunny and too obvious.

Rachel0Greep · 04/04/2016 22:43

I think we should make up our own storylines, they couldn't be any worse than the nonsense that is going on at the moment.

lilydaisyrose · 04/04/2016 22:46

I have made the momentous decision to take Corrie off Series Link.

It's just crap. Nothing makes sense, storyline are bollocks and I am extremely irritated by most of the characters -Michelle Imsobusyandimportant McDonald the most.

raininginspringtime · 04/04/2016 22:53

It's awful isn't it!?

Michelle (or Kym Marsh) is my 'sleb claim to fame. She's godmother to my friends daughter.

eddiemairswife · 04/04/2016 22:56

Was Amy's music club at the Community Centre? It looked like it. If so, why did Liz need to take her?

LineyReborn · 04/04/2016 22:59

It really is crap, isn't it?

Akire · 04/04/2016 23:03

Good point ! She's at high school she can walk down the road. Tracey's get a wiggle on was annoying me she's not 3 any more.

Finally Jason said what I've been saying for months.... Sean must be the richest person on the street! Two jobs lives in tiny room so can't be paying Eileen that much. Hope one day he buys pub or something he's got to do something with all his money.

Where is Roy? Did he visit his sick mum? Was enjoying her and new girl friend relationship wanted to see how both dealt with grief and new person. But nothing after first week, no hugs no kisses no tender hand holding. Just smack bang story line then nothing.

If Rob dumps Tracey and let's face it why would he stay. Will he get with Carla or Leanne? Always been a spark there. Though they all sleep together bleighhhhhhh. So Nik is sleeping with Carla who slept with Rob who could now sleep with Leanne who also slept with Nik. Who else has Leanne and Carla and Nik slept with who still on street? Only been watching for last 2years after about 20y break

raininginspringtime · 04/04/2016 23:10

I really think corrie is going to the dogs. The only ones in it I warm towards are Eileen, Roy and Carla. Corrie is really a testament to Alison King's acting skills as she's had awful storylines, but she and Roy are going.

Sally and Tim have potential but are overused and are becoming caricatures of themselves. I just don't care about the stupid Platts or Sean (bleeuurghh) and the vicar; I don't care about Alya and Gary and Fiz and Tyrone or any of them!

Todd has some potential. I like the fact he isn't cast as an out and out villain or a particularly sympathetic character - he's somewhere in the middle.

Normally corrie does well with character development with youngsters but there's been no sense of that with (for example) dev's twins; miley has vanished and so has Hope following her heartwrenchingly storyline that I don't think anyone cared about

If someone asked me what was happening in corrie now I'd struggle to explain behind Carla and the blackmailing.

Akire · 04/04/2016 23:26

You got that lovely pretty waitrose at bistro who had the Gavin story line and mini blackmail story. She's great she's deserves some real story lines to get teeth into. She could murder her Gavin/not Gavin boyfriend who is dull as dish water. We not had a murder for least 6m.

Hope Craig is going stay and get decent job and life. Not just be tims assistant. Or be like Sophie leave school get job on street never leave.

That mancanic who sister works bistro is great too he needs story to but suppose law dictates he can only get girl on street not sure who's left single in his age range. He be miles better than wooden new comi chef/past gym owner.

*sorry brain freeze on names tonight!

theliverpoolone · 04/04/2016 23:58

Akire, the mechanic will have a storyline soon, as Maria is going to be returning from Cyprus Wink

Couldn't believe tonight how it was like that row between Liz and Michelle on Friday had never happened. Liz: I thought we were friends - why didn't Michelle say yes, so did I until you started screaming at me last week Confused

And I have long forgotten why Carla is the person Tracey "hates most in all the world".

EachandEveryone · 05/04/2016 00:30

Why does Robert put up with such crap?

ajandjjmum · 05/04/2016 07:50

Surely that is the end of Robert and Tracey.

Hygge · 05/04/2016 08:14

"If Rob dumps Tracey and let's face it why would he stay. Will he get with Carla or Leanne? Always been a spark there. Though they all sleep together bleighhhhhhh. I think Carla is leaving, so unless Robert goes with her it's probably going to be Leanne.

And from what I remember, I think Carla and Leanne have shared three men so far, with Robert being halfway to number four.

Carla was married to Michelle's elder brother, and Leanne slept with him while she was working as a protitute.

Leanne then married Peter, and Carla slept with him when he helped her with her alcoholism.

Leanne then married Nick, and then they split up, and now he's with Carla.

Carla slept with Robert, and Leanne probably will.

Nick slept with Kylie, who is married to David. And with Erica, who is now with Dev (I think). And I think that's it for people who are still on the Street.

RJnomore1 · 05/04/2016 08:22

I don't understand how Tracy killed someone in that fire and suddenly she's the one blackmailing Carla. Can anyone explain how she got away with the fire? I think I missed something a while back. It doesn't seem like Carla to be pandering to Tracy either.

I love Linda block Carla Alison king.

eddiemairswife · 05/04/2016 10:04

Where is Simon?

Akire · 05/04/2016 10:15

Thanks hygge that's some knowledge! You never manage to make a flow chart out of that would you.

Rachel0Greep · 05/04/2016 10:41

I wish Carla wasn't leaving, and I hate that they changed her character so that she was blackmailed so easily by that pain in the backside Tracy.
She seems to have recovered her spark a bit in the last few episodes. Nick isn't exactly squeaky clean, he slept with Kylie, so he couldn't exactly condemn Carla, IMO.
It didn't make much sense that she couldn't tell him that she had slept with Robert, instead of all that convoluted stuff. I know it was to fit a storyline but Hmm

I liked the scene with Carla and Leanne last night. Both good actresses, who play very credible parts. I didn't watch both episodes though, there is only so much I can endure from Corrie in its current state.

EachandEveryone · 05/04/2016 10:50

I know. I fast forward most of it. I will really miss Carla and her wardrobe. I hope Alison goes on to do much better things as she deserves it Corrie is insulting to all of us at the moment.

southeastdweller · 05/04/2016 19:55

Another example of Tracey's screwed-up logic is her reason for hating Carla. IIRC it's because Carla called the police on Rob, Tracey's 'love of her life'. Rob being the person who cold-bloodedly killed Tina and framed Tracey's brother for the murder. Rob fled Weatherfield but him and Tracey were soon reunited and Tracey decided to call the police to let them know where he is. A year and a half later, she still hates Carla Confused
