the last thread got to 1000 (took 2 and a half YEARS Grin )

So:
Paddy and Rhona off to Germany with Marlons blessing.
Why did Rhona say "Pretend you fell off a horse" to explain his bruise. He's a Vet. He could've been kicked by any sort of animal, he's the most unlikely equestrian ever.

Eric- something going on with him. Not just a touch of dodgy tummy, I reckon he'll have something serious and bowel related (a slow burn storyline )

Holly- can't stick her, whiney irritating little twerp.

Charity, you are not the hottest thing to walk the Dales. Go Away.

Chrissie/Andy/Robert .
Chrissie and Robert are talking . Is there going to be another Sudgen Brother Love Triangle? (Yawn)

Those were two captivating episodes, I'm really only on and off with Emmerdale these days but I couldn't help but watch. Great acting. I liked that at the end, when she dropped with grief, it was Cain who was there to pick Moira up but I'm a bit sloppy like that.

ellenanora5 · 29/09/2016 21:18

I thought she wasn't under the covers DanyellasDonkey, that she had gone off and packed it with pillows.

It was beautifully done, I'd agree with you there

NoelHeadbands · 29/09/2016 21:22

Really well written and acted.

When Moira went in to wake Holly and she didn't answer, the usual 'soap' thing to do would have been to throw back the covers and discover the body.

They didn't do that though, as she inched around the bed talking to her, you could see on Moira's face that it was dawning on her that something was wrong- she knew.

It gave me chills it was done so well.

JaneJeffer · 29/09/2016 21:27

Yes she did that scene so well. It was heartbreaking.

Pigeonpair1 · 29/09/2016 21:30

I'm wondering if it might not be an overdose at all (could the silver wrap have been an old one under the bed?). Maybe a heart defect or something??? I was crying my eyes out when Cain picked her up..

Jojoanna · 29/09/2016 21:39

I was tearful at the end when Cain picked her up and I never cry at soaps

Marzipants · 29/09/2016 21:42

I am jealous of you lot getting merely moist eyed, I was full on sobbing pretty much most of the time. When she was lying on the bed with her, I think I might have dehydrated myself.

idlevice · 29/09/2016 22:51

I've had to come out of the closet as an Emmerdale watcher & join the thread on the strength of those episodes! Definitely agree it's award-worthy & the ending was pure soap goodness when Cain ...I was hoping it was Cain but then couldn't be sure it wasn't Adam as we just saw dark clothes until the next moment it panned out to reveal Cain....phew...

Showing the death at home & the processes that went with it made it feel very intimate. It must have been hard for the cast & crew to film. I don't know if or how they'll take Cain & Moira forward though - they can't get back together just like that after Moira losing Holly, too tacky.

jbee664 · 29/09/2016 23:48

Oh my gosh, so shocked, was not expecting that!

I did get an every feeling from the start though when moira was walking round the farm and it was quiet and then how it showed the foil in holly's room. I actually felt sick when it cut to the first break and moira had just found her - a friend from work lost her 17 year old daughter from SAD a couple of years ago and found her in bed and it made me think of that :(

As awful as it was, I am so so glad it bought Cain back to her, was worried he wouldn't go so that ending was perfect, I kept willing him to go and hold her!

I'm talking as if this is real!!!!

Sweetandsour93 · 30/09/2016 00:50

It was one of the most emotional episodes of Emmerdale I've ever seen. Heartbreaking to watch but it was acted so beautifully. I think it's very clever how out of the blue it was, it was raw and shocking. I was crying when Moira ran after the ambulance and Cain put his arms around her. I really wish they would get back together, I'm so sick of watching Charity throw herself at him!

southeastdweller · 30/09/2016 07:53

Another one here who was in tears last night. My heart was practically breaking for Moira in Holly's bedroom when she realised something was up and then when she touched Holly's hand and realised Holly had died - as a parent I can't imagine anything worse Sad. Natalie Robb once again was fantastic.

painbadger · 30/09/2016 08:33

Danyella's Donkey I thought Holly had spent the night with Jai too and that the she would climb back through the window. It looked like the duvet was stuffed the first time Moira came in with the tea. Very good acting and beautifully filmed as well. I did suspect something bad though the way Moira was walking through the farm thinking life was good.

Perhaps Jai gave her some money. Drug death's can be like that - just as someone seems to be really firmly on the up. I think it's easier to OD when you've been clean for a while. I hope they don't sully it by having a crass "murder" flashblack plot.

jbee664 · 30/09/2016 09:03

my post was supposed to say eery feeling not every!

youngestisapsycho · 30/09/2016 09:46

Great episode and Moira was brilliant..... but the whole thing was weird. Holly was all happy having a picnic with Jai, going off to do a wedding, then dead in her bed the next morning with a wrapper floating around. Why would she have taken anything? Understandable if they'd shown her having an argument with Jai or being unhappy about something??

Mairyhinge · 30/09/2016 10:01

I think that's the point though, to show that she was ( apparently) clean, happy, getting her life together, close to mum again, then BANG, somehow she gets the opportunity to take the drugs again, and, being an addict, takes them, and it was either dodgy stuff, she took too much, or her body was just not ready for it again.
It's so sad, and I think the fact that no one knew this was coming is brilliant.
I'm hoping Cain steps up here, is there for moira, expects nothing in return, and tells charity to fuck the fuck off!
He makes me melt, i hate the fact he's been so interested in charity again, can't bloody stand her, hopefully she will disappear again soon.

youngestisapsycho · 30/09/2016 10:15

I reckon someone killed her... probably that former dealer of hers?!

4forksake · 30/09/2016 10:34

Just catching up now & tears flowing. So unexpected (well done emmerdale for keeping that one in the bag). Moira acted it beautifully.

One thing that confused me, how did Victoria find out about holly? Moira & chaz were at the farm on the phone then it cut to Victoria going to tell Adam. Didn't seem to be a part where Victoria found out, or did I blink & miss something?

jbee664 · 30/09/2016 10:42

I thought that about Victoria but presume Diane told her somehow as Diane was there.

Bit weird though that Diane would call/message her from the room where Holly was!

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 30/09/2016 12:36

Oh I blubbed. Not sure if it's because I'm a bit pre-menstrual but totally blubsville. Especially at the end where she collapsed and Cain grabbed her. Sad

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/09/2016 13:00

Very Sad and YY out of the blue.

The episodes before had seen Moira and Holly Mucking about waking each other - Moira took a cup of tea to Holly and had to wake her up, sh was lazing in bed , then talking about how much she loved her room.
Then Moira was snoozing on the sofa and Holly pounced to wake her before she went out.

So leading up to Moira thinking Holly was playing possum.

The bit where Moira came downstairs and said "I just need to make this call" to Diane and Chas , then "I don't know who I need" to the 999 operator, all the build up and tension.

Emmerdale is on the up, but very sad.

(Doesn't help that my DD is called Holly, so everytime they said Holly's dead .... weeeeps )

Took me by surprise too. Well done Miss Natalie, I have a swinging brick where my heart should be and I roared pails.

When she was lying in bed giving her a bosie with her wee cuddly toy, damn near finished me.

Lovely Cain at the end. Perfect. I have big puffy eyes from crying, but perfect. And then I watched Corrie with Maria. My eyes look like they've been minced.

qazxc · 30/09/2016 13:53

I was blubbling too, Moira was soo good. ( and on slightly cattier more was the best acting we've had from holly too).
It's pretty realistic too, when people relapse after being clean for a while is when they are more likely to overdose ( their body has less resistance to the drug). I assume one of her old friends would have given her drugs, presumably at the wedding. If it was old uni friends they would probably have been doing drugs back in the day.

Smidge001 · 30/09/2016 15:27

Oh wow. Those episodes were amazing. So totally unexpected. I'd even started to like Holly, she seemed so much better at acting loved up and smiley, it was actually cheering me up to see her and Jai get it together - then BAM. I'm quite disappointed. But Moira was brilliant. That scene of her slowly walking around the bed and dreading each step.... Then the phone call. It all seemed so real. Also loved her shouting at annoying Adam too, spooky little brat! Glad that he went to tell Cain though. The scene of Adam in the pub and then Cain holding him was fantastic. Cain totally makes me melt when he does the right thing. YY to the final scene too when they pan back and it's Cain holding her. I really really hope they get back together. I used to like the old Charity and Cain thing but too much water has gone under the bridge now. Cain's changed and should DEFINITELY get back with Moira. They're strangely perfect together. I do like Charity but they really need to give up on that storyline.

And for the record, I blubbed loads.

Smidge001 · 30/09/2016 15:28

Spoilt, not spooky!!!

jbee664 · 30/09/2016 18:08

haha qazxc that's right about Holly's acting!!
