Hugs pix.

Is DS not feeling any better this evening?

pixieg1rl · 16/02/2016 22:04

Seems to be worse tonight Kelly. He's sweating like nobody's business, I've already had to change his pjs once. My friend's son went through this last week, I think I'm at the worst.

Watching SATC2, God it's shit on a stick

MaddieMoo82 · 16/02/2016 22:13

Oh pix fingers crossed the worst passes tonight for you Flowers

Ilovelblue · 16/02/2016 22:30

Hi everyone. Sounds as if it's been a rough day for a few of you. Hope little pixlet is going to improve overnight and that you manage some sleep at least.

I'm watching Holby which seems to get worse - not sure who is writing the storylines but I think they need to find somebody new.

My friend with the financial problems has been round for tea. I'm pleased that she seems to be a lot better and she has got a handle on her difficulties. Not entirely sure she's doing anything about her weight but it's not my place to comment on that.

Different subject entirely but does anywhere live near Bletchley and/or been to Bletchley Park? Is it Dizzy who lives in that area? She's not been on for a while, has she?

pixieg1rl · 16/02/2016 22:43

Ha, MrP just asked me if one of the blokes on SATC was 'my Captain'. I hope you've noted that woof. My captain Grin

KellyHb · 16/02/2016 23:00

I've been to Bletchley Park before ilove.

Ilovelblue · 16/02/2016 23:02

Is it worth a visit would you say Kelly?

moojangles · 16/02/2016 23:08

ilove I went to Bletchley and loved it, so would say it was worth a visit. Am quite a geek though!

Ilovelblue · 16/02/2016 23:12

It's too far from here for a day trip but I've suggested to my friend that we have a joint birthday outing and extend our stay nr St Albans after our Eurostar city break in August so that we can go.

Thanks mooj!

pixieg1rl · 16/02/2016 23:13

I'd love to go to Bletchley, considering I live about an hour away I really should make an effort. Milton Keynes just means ikea to me....

KellyHb · 16/02/2016 23:24

Ah it was fab ilove. Our tour guide was one of the ladies who worked in the same room as the actual codebreakers. She knew Alan Turing. She looked brilliant for her age and she was so interesting to listen to. But if you were walking slowly while she was walking along to the next bit of the museum, she wouldn't be afraid to tell you right off.

pix me and DH went to MK a couple of years ago for a weekend break and we left the kids at MIL's house. It was a bit random to go there but we wanted somewhere close but not too close to his Mams. I could only think of industrial estates but when we got there, we had a fab time. Great shops, cinema, pubs, it was literally like a little town in the middle of an industrial estate (if that makes sense).

moojangles · 16/02/2016 23:25

Was dragged out of Bletchley after several hours and would quite happily go again.
Just back from seeing the brilliant Sarah Millican.
Hope that poorly littlies are on the mend and that much needed sleep (or gin) is had

KellyHb · 16/02/2016 23:54

Yey! I love Sarah Millican mooj. Glad you had a great time. Is she doing a nationwide tour?

moojangles · 17/02/2016 06:44

She is indeed kelly, think she's got a fair few dates left.

Ilovelblue · 17/02/2016 07:24

Morning all. Thanks for the info on Bletchley Park last night.

Dreadful weather here from about midnight. Torrential rain lashing against the bedroom window. Woke up several times. You'd think we'd be used to this by now. It's been frosty, dry and sunny for about four days too.

Hope anyone suffering from the lurgy is getting better.

Richtea19 · 17/02/2016 08:13

Didn't dip in last night as spent most of the eve clearing up house from teenagers been left on their own during the day... A different kind of school holidays for me!

pix hope little pixlet is on the mend today? Such a worry when they have a temperature.

Day off today which means trip to shops and then ironing mountain!

MaddieMoo82 · 17/02/2016 08:26

I'll join you in the ironing mountain later rich! I've ignored it for a few days and it's steadily growing and toppling over
DS has a rubbish cough but dropped him to nursery anyway so not sure if I'll get a call later to pick him. In the mean time need to start clearing my wardrobe out, need CJ round to reach the top bits and get on his hands and knees for the lower bits Blush
Hope DS settled and had a better night pix
Would love to go to Bletchley but nowhere near me. Peak District holiday in May means I can visit chatsworth house though which is somewhere I've always wanted to go.

Ilovelblue · 17/02/2016 08:36

Chatsworth is amazing Maddie. Been a few times though it's a bit of a trek (one road only after Stockport for me and a bit bendy). It's not cheap to get in. May be worth seeing if you can find any online offers? There's a great farm shop as well but it's about 5 miles from the actual house! I used to travel to an office we had in Derbyshire and would sneak a trip to the shop on my way back.

icemistOBE · 17/02/2016 09:08

Morning

I do like Sarah Millican but her voice grates on me after a while, I couldn't see her live as I'd want to throw something at her Blush

Have L's speech therapy assessment today.

And I need to tackle my ironing, my new iron needs to be tried out

pixieg1rl · 17/02/2016 10:03

DS much better today, currently running around putting Star Wars stickers on everything. He's divided our bed into dark side/good side; guess which side is which? I wish he was well enough to go to holiday club, but I think it would just be too exhausting for him. I've got to get the house clean and spare room made up for BIL & family visit then get a haircut for DS as MIL will complain about his hair being too long.

Have a good day everyone!

cjwoofwoof · 17/02/2016 10:12

Glad pixlets feeling better pix

Bah! to ironing - don't iron so much as a hanky in this house, hence the nickname of That Family Up The Road.

Matthias is just about to sort out my plumbing and get my waters flowing again. He's a master of hot water taps that are always on the boil Grin

KellyHb · 17/02/2016 10:33

Morning all.

Ah pleased DS is better pix. The kids are big into Star Wars at the minute too. There's a kids TV channel where theres Lego men being Star Wars characters (if that makes sense) and its great.

Ditto on the ironing pile. Mine's huge and hoping parents will come over and watch the kids while I try and tackle it!

Oo woof there's nothing like hot water flowing freely especially sorted out by a very pleasing to the eye plumber.

Woke up with a swollen gum above my troublesome veneer. Got antibiotics as dentist said it might happen. DH checked with work insurance dentistry company and we'd have to pay a fortune a month to not get much in return so that options out!

Would love to go to Chatsworth mads very envious! Hope you have a fab time!

I need a new iron too ice. Hope the speech assessment goes well.

kuiakaituhi · 17/02/2016 10:50

Re ironing, Woof, Mooj and Rich. Have had a policy for the last 20 years about shopping. If it has a label with ironing instructions, I put it back on the shelf/rack. I really like the airing cycle on my clothes dryer. If I get stuff out as soon as it finishes and fold , then you hardly know the difference.

My mother was an ironing martyr, every day of her life and lots of guilt tripping about all the work we three kids made for her and how hot it was etc, etc. She'd turn over in her grave to know I banned ironing here...I have been known to press the odd collar if something looks really crumply, but do not advertise that. I did teach my sons how to do it before they left home, but am not sure that any of them were particularly interested.

My oldest son is famous for having been hauled up before the BOF (Boring Old Farts) Disciplinary Committee at the hospital in Cardiff where he was doing his anaesthetics registry training and told to wear a tie. Apparently it was not done to get out of bed at 3.00 in the morning to "gas up" a patient for emergency surgery unless he arrived there wearing a tie. So he took to wearing one of those dreadful ties on a stretchy neckband in a particularly lurid spotted pattern, over his Kiwi surfing T shirts. When asked to explain ., he said no one had said anything about his shirts... He is what we call a bogan when it comes to clothing and thoroughly endorses his mother's stand on wasting time on boring jobs. He IS a brilliant anaesthetist, though, works in a team now which does long, complicated orthopaedic surgery on little kids.

Jen, loved both your new pieces.

apsara03 · 17/02/2016 12:15

Chatsworth is fab maddie. The adventure playground is amazing for littlies. Lots of sand so bring buckets and spade
Another Star Wars obsessive here pixie. In the process of decorating his room. He wanted it black with Star Wars in orange letters. I feel 6 is a little young for a black bedroom but managed to get him to agree to dark navy ceiling and little blue walls with lots of transfers and a Clone trooper door knob

KellyHb · 17/02/2016 14:13

Waiting for parents to come and watch the kids for a bit. I expected them hours ago but I think they're dragging their feet. They rang just there to say 'do I still want them to come round as time's getting on!!' I'm like 'yes, me and the kids have been waiting for ages! What a cheek (hits head with my arm I've just chopped off in frustration)
