Talk deserved to go. Her style was totally by-the-numbers - everything she did was so mainstream as to be guaranteed naff in a year's time and that finished kitchen was awful.

I think it's a shame she chickened out of the mushroom coloured wall paint - the whole scheme might have held together and felt cosier if she'd been brave enough. But the cream just left all these details sort of scattered about and made that badly finished cold grey on the cupboard doors look really clunky.

I was amazed the owner didn't go apeshit at what she'd done.

Ann really annoyed me to start with - I kept wanting to get a hanky and dab at that lipstick - and that baby voice! But she's a proper English eccentric and her ideas were far more original and interesting. She's developed as the show's gone on too.

Agree OTheHuge

Those herb holder graters fgs, typical 'designer made stuff' Where would the water go? I saw it dropping out of the bottom of them Hmm . As the client i would've removed those immediately and also removed Anne's silly little shelves with grotty looking plates in them. In a kitchen WE NEED USEFUL STUFF NOT CRAPPY NONSENSE.

Sorry, rant over!

I missed the beginning and didn't see the presentations/briefs, Anne's was more pleasing to my eye; Tally's grey doors when the carcasses were still cream and the grass rug were hideous. Had Tally's home owner chosen the grey sofa or was it Tally? Agree Anne's plate rack thingys (that the plates fell through) weren't practical.

Plant stand and hostess trolley back in the van again! I quite liked the idea of the kitsch laundry basket compared to the ridiculous egg holder so Tally would have won that for me!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 25/02/2016 10:07

Oh dear. I don't think Anne stands a chance in the next room. Tally doesn't seem to get that designer means design not just decorate. Even that light wasn't that original, I've seen very similar industrial looking lights. I liked her kitchen but it was gimmicky and too trendy for the brief. Didn't like Anne's at all. At least she's genuinely creative and had to go through.

I'd love to see one of the designers coming in here . We have beautifully cut stone walls 2 of which have been covered in cement 'crepi', so think concrete wood chip Shock. The last owners ,decoratively speaking, ruined this house in the 70s. Before that it had been an actual 'ruin'. Grin

All of the walls are cream\magnolia. There are hideous greyish, marble effect tiles on the floor and 'wait for it' the same on the work tops! and splash backs. We, like Anne's client have ONE proper window, and panelled glass doors. Apart from one back door that is a proper cottage style.

We are thinking of having it done but can't afford to remove the crepi. How do softish blue tiles sound? Oh all the cupboards are white . Beams are dark dark brown. Any ideas anyone??

annandale · 25/02/2016 12:24

ppeatfruit why don't you contact the show's researchers? They must have a hell of a job finding all the rooms they need.

Could the 'crepi' be skimmed? Never heard of it so don't know. I personally still like a white room Blush I think blue tiles sound nice, ideally the blue that Tali used in that first 'Moroccan' room?

MrsJamin · 25/02/2016 12:43

So we've got frankie, Lucy, Sarah and Anne. I think frankie will win. Anne to go first.

GrouchyKiwi · 25/02/2016 13:05

I think Sarah will go first. Final between Lucy and Frankie.

annandale · 25/02/2016 13:09

I think Anne and Lucy will go, final between Frankie and Sarah.

ppeatfruit · 25/02/2016 13:19

Thanks annndale France would make a very fertile ground for makeovers Grin ours is a pleasant example, we saw some real horrors when we were looking to buy!

But I don't think they'd have the budget for it. It would take 3 months to improve ours properly not 3 days!!

cosmicglittergirl · 25/02/2016 20:45

Just caught up with this, the whole way through I thought I preferred Tali's, but right at the end I think I preferred Anne's. The grey was too much.

iwouldgoouttonight · 29/02/2016 17:34

Looking forward to the finals this week. Looking at the TV guide there are sitting rooms today (in Devon) and tomorrow (in Somerset) so it looks as though Slummy's orange room will be one of those!

GrouchyKiwi · 29/02/2016 18:45

I had forgotten it was the finals this week.

I am definitely excited about seeing Slummy's room!

dillite · 29/02/2016 19:16

Evening! I'm a bit behind- was making pancakes. I love that John Lewis wallpaper that Lucy has picked.

dillite · 29/02/2016 19:18

Such dull rooms. Will slummy tell us which house is hers?

MistyPrivates · 29/02/2016 19:19

Love this show and this thread! Gutted its finishing soon, Frankie to win, Lucy's brick wallpaper + hand painted fish combo sounds terrifying

dillite · 29/02/2016 19:23

That elephant cushion was terrifying.

BitOfFun · 29/02/2016 19:29

Plastic grass again? Noooooooooo!

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 29/02/2016 19:31

Are three of them using the same colour pallete? Surely there's more to Nautical/fisherman/New England than blue and white!

dillite · 29/02/2016 19:31

I am joining in with the rest of you who hate Lucy's voice. Like nails on chalkboard.

GrouchyKiwi · 29/02/2016 19:32

I love the navy in Sarah's room, especially with the coral.

Not sold on the other rooms.

And this challenge is not my favourite.

dillite · 29/02/2016 19:32

Artex and that dark colour do not suit each other.

iwouldgoouttonight · 29/02/2016 19:35

Slummy''s must be one of the medieval houses tomorrow.

Lucy to go today I hope think.

dillite · 29/02/2016 19:35

I think Anne will go. And take her plastic grass with her.

BitOfFun · 29/02/2016 19:37

The HORROR of those chopped-up linen chests!
