bibliomania I was going to say exactly that Grin The actual workers are the ones that make those rooms anywhere near worthwhile. Their faces are a picture (esp. the woman painter's).

The judges are so blinded by (esp. Sophie) everything having to be 'contemporary' that they make the words 'fashion victim' seem understated. So the grey beams of her room, that was linked upthread, are terribly old fashioned now. We can't have that can we? Grin

VacheItUp · 24/02/2016 11:34

PPeat but the thing is you don't necessarily have the most cutting edge stuff in your house non stop do you (as a successful designer)- or you'd never be finished. I used to work in fashion and would cringe anytime anyone asked what I did- 5/10 I'd get asked "So what you're wearing is the top fashion at the moment is it?"

(err no, it was a full laundry basket day actually was normally the answer to that question)

ppeatfruit · 24/02/2016 11:44

No of course not Vache I was being sarky btw. I too worked in the fashion world for a couple of years (that was more than enough TBH).

I couldn't bear the type of people who totally blanked you because you weren't wearing what they deemed to be the latest 'look'. Talk about 2 faced.

absolutelynotfabulous · 24/02/2016 13:20

Just caught up. Tali's was ok but underwhelming but the bloke's-wtfGrin.

Glad he's gone. I'm quite liking Talli (sp)? but none of the others have an ounce of self-awareness, it seems.

HortonWho · 24/02/2016 14:25

Vache, but would you put up a selfie if you were wearing whatever happened to be in your laundry basket at the time to promote your self and your skills? Because that's a staged photoshoot, not how her living room looks day to day

FelicityLemon · 24/02/2016 14:41

Vache as the great Dolly Parton said:
'It costs a lot of money to look this cheap.'

VacheItUp · 24/02/2016 14:51

Horton no I wouldn't but I also wouldn't go out and get a boob job and buy an complete and current designer wardrobe for that one photos shoot either .

I'd love to know if the home owners and steered towards "liking" their rooms - perhaps they get promised a complete free overhaul if they hate it?

SheHasAWildHeart · 24/02/2016 17:54

Tali is a furniture restyler in real life, what is that?
I think the editing of the show has been unfair to Anne. With the Japanese room the just showed her making bunting. But then she also managed so get in a dressing table, desk and sofa bed for the girl which weren't properly shown. Yesterday they just showed her faffing around with the window seat but at the end you could see that she'd done a lot more. However, I am convinced that she is Sarah Millican in disguise playing a character.
I still think Jamie who didn't get through last week is better than any of the designers this week.

CremeEggThief · 24/02/2016 17:58

Em, is it a furniture painter? That's what she seems to focus on and enjoy mostSmile. To be fair to her, she is very good at fulfilling her clients' briefs and giving them what they want, even if she's not very creative.

absolutelynotfabulous · 24/02/2016 18:17

I suppose a furniture restyler is a tarter-upper of furniture? I paint all my own furniture; does that make me a furniture restyler or a batty old dear weilding a paintbrush.

I don't get what Sophie means about Tali not being creative. She's giving furniture a new lease of life so what's wrong with that? I think that's far more useful than some old bits of fabric strung together.

At least she's fulfilling the brief-surely that's what it's all about?

SheHasAWildHeart · 24/02/2016 18:45

I think the judges need to clarify what they want. They say they want someone who gives he clients what the want then they say they want the designer to push the client and take risks. They want them to be creative then complain that too many things are homemade then complain that too many things are shop bought 😴

Davros · 24/02/2016 19:02

I don't know why they thought the copper edging on the shelves was a contemporary touch compared to the Arts and Crafts theme. Copper is a classic A&C material.
Craig's room was a joke!!

That cottage garden is to die for.

Wolpertinger · 24/02/2016 19:10

Both those kitchens are lovely now. 'This kitchen is small and gloomy for a farmhouse' - well they should come to my farmhouse and see my shitty kitchen - appliances slowly breaking, drawers breaking, doors falling off, no heating ..Grin

DH and I are currently hoping both kitchens are wrecked as we are furiously envious.

dillite · 24/02/2016 19:16

Evening! I missed the beginning, what are they destroying tonight?

dillite · 24/02/2016 19:17

I absolutely hated the bird's nest on the head woman's Japanese room on Monday. Can't believe she's still in.

CremeEggThief · 24/02/2016 19:18

Just about to tune in, about half an hour behind.

dillite · 24/02/2016 19:20

Nothing seems to have happened yet. There's so much blooming filler on this show.

GrouchyKiwi · 24/02/2016 19:26

Anne is seriously lacking in practicality. Wallpaper as a splashback!

Agree about grey and cream being bad together.

GrouchyKiwi · 24/02/2016 19:31

The village this episode is set in is utterly gorgeous.

My least favourite bit of the show is the "upcycle" challenge. It's all so tacky.

Annarose2014 · 24/02/2016 19:33

At least Tali's having a laugh! Correct reaction, imo.

dillite · 24/02/2016 19:33

I would be laughing from embarrassment as well.

dillite · 24/02/2016 19:34

Laminate isn't very practical in a farmhouse kitchen, is it?

CremeEggThief · 24/02/2016 19:35

Oliver in plain top shocker! Where are the stripes?Confused

Annarose2014 · 24/02/2016 19:39

Oh God does his top have white scribbles on it??

Bring back the Breton!
