Meant to be back tomorrow ilove but have already warned them I won't be in. Was hoping I would be better by now, but still feeling pretty grim. According to doctor it's viral and nothing but rest will help. Wish he'd tell my 3 year old that!! Hope you're feeling better soon.

jen hope today's pics of Kenyan rugby players and a v.hairy AT have lifted your spirits a teensy bit and you're feeling more shipshape soon. If you're not well, sod work and concentrate on yourself for once that's my advice. I've spent many a duvet day flat out on my back but hey, that's another story altogether, despite being sort of throat related I suppose

On the insurance front not good news - they only pay for what was damaged by the water not to fix the broken pipe which given it happened it was in the middle of the night cost over £500 :(

Pixie, I hope you had a fab time away - but you are right it is so hard to come back to real life after a lovely break like that.

I hope everyone who is poorly gets better soon. It's such a miserable time of year. DS remarked upon how light it was at 5.15 today - he sounded just like my grandma who used to say "the nights are drawing in/out" as appropriate as soon as the longest or shortest day had passed!

Ooh, just seen the trailer for the Night Manager, Tom whatshisface is a bit meh, but Hugh Laurie looks menacing and Tom Holland and Olivia Coleman as well, looks like a good cast.

I'm going back to work on Wednesday, I've decided. Another day at home so that I can catch up on sleep. Rubbish weather again today with high winds so if it's like this tomorrow, I won't want to get up anyway!

Morning. Nice and warm in bed but a howling wind outside. Just trawled through that thread Always and have to confess I don't recognise most of them. I'm pretty useless on films really. One or two were quite nice though.

Thanks mads, so far all the stuff I asked others to do on Wednesday hadn't been done, so I've spent the first 30 minutes getting that sorted. (Fingers crossed) I have a temp arriving today to take over some of the extra work I've been doing so I'm hopeful that the week will get better. I'm in a bit of a grump, tired and period pain etc.

I hardly recognised anyone either ilove, though there were a fair few that I'm sure woof would like.

Had a brilliant moment at school today. We have a coven, of which I am one of the chief witches, of expert pervers. Today there was discussion of beautiful surf life savers at national championships over the weekend. One of my coven-mates was excitedly demonstrating on the arm of another how she would like to stroke the upper arm of one of said lifesavers. She wasn't watching what she was doing, but came back to earth from her reverie when a loud "ahem" alerted her to the fact that she was actually stroking the Principal's upper arm.
None of us have been able to look at either of them for the rest of the day without going into peals of laughter. He's a good sport, but we haven't felt able to tell him what was really going on today.

Not sure about a few of the men on there, but do have to agree that Paul Newman was one of the most handsome men of all time. Harrison ford was a definite bit of all right too.
Noticed Jamie Fraser had a mention, CJ definitely belongs on there!

On the topic of popular threads, have just spent ten mins howling at the one titled 'DS (11) found my vibrator'!!! Oh the horror!!!

Hoping to get back to work on Thursday if I can stop falling asleep on the couch at random times of the day. Weather is awful here ilove, the wind and rain are even worse than usual. Was waiting for my garden shed to take off last night!! Think whaj is having the same experience.

No rain here Jen and v windy but you have it much worse. I did notice yesterday afternoon about 4.45 when I was chucking some stuff out in the greenhouse that the birds were still chirping and you hope spring isn't too far away. It was light till well after 5 too. Always my Dad used to comment frequently on the lengthening days too. He used to say after 21 June 'the days are getting shorter' too. It used to mske me laugh but I have been known to say it as well in more recent times.

Random question but it made me think of something else my Dad used to say. Not sure if it's an old country saying or what but in 14 February he would say that's the day birds get engaged (and you often see them starting to nest soon after that). Has anyone else heard that saying?

I'm shocked and appalled at the lack of decent mantotty on that thread. No CJ, no Manu, whatever's going on? Nice to see the ultimate Lego Man Liev Schreiber as a little compensation, plus Rupert Penry Jones is worthy of a mention, but other than that Gregory Peck simply does not cut it

I'll save the vibrator thread for lunchtime, my son did find the condoms in MrP's bedside drawer when he was about 10 months old. Thankfully he was too young to ask questions although there is a photo of the moment on Facebook to embarrass him in the future
