Nope, as they say "I ain't got time for that shit" Kelly. I know there's been plenty of parties where only a few kids have been invited.

I only pick DS up one day a week and I've failed to get involved with anyone or anything so I doubt that I'll even notice any disapproval should it happen.

KellyHb · 20/01/2016 13:22

Afternoon all.

So tired today as DD had nightmares during the night and came into our bed but I forgot how loud she snores so basically not much sleep was had. Confused

Yes that's the pain about DD's class. There's a couple of bitchy Mams of children in DD's class that complain about things their kids aren't involved in. I don't see many of the other Mams either pix as I'm normally running late.

KellyHb · 20/01/2016 13:23

Wish it was Friday already!! For me it feels like a long week.

pixieg1rl · 20/01/2016 13:41

Yes, really long feeling week here as well Kelly, lots to do still though. Have you heard anything about your birthday treat for next weekend yet?

MaddieMoo82 · 20/01/2016 14:37

Feel your pain kelly DS has woken every 1.5 hrs screaming for the last 2 nights. No idea what's going on but it's all very grumpy here.
Hope your DH is feeling better about his exam now.
Gorgeous day here today, freezing but lovely blue skies... Smile
Trying to convince MrMads to play football Friday night so can watch lucky man in peace. Typical that's it's the one Friday he doesn't fancy playing!!

Rhubarb01 · 20/01/2016 15:27

Afternoon all! Gosh all the talk of parties takes me back. I remember the first time my eldest had a party after starting school and I felt that, in common with everyone else, I ought to put on a party for the entire class (they were all aged 4 or 5). It brought me out in a cold sweat having 30+ kids in a hall plus all their parents sat at the sides looking on and being served tea and biscuits (that always helps). I had to rope my family in to help and was terrified it would be a disaster but it turned out OK even if it felt like chaos especially when I got them all sat down after party games and tea making party hats - yes arts and crafts! Anyway, by the time the twins reached the same age I organised soft play parties - easy peasy (drinks, party bags, piece of cake and out the door). It is one thing that gets easier as they get older, they are more selective about friends and increasingly they don't want you involved you just have to stump up the cash - as in I get a phone call to turn up with my credit card and pay the bill!

Thinking of OG2 I have to feel sympathy for TG. It's easy to see now that the whole delay in announcing series 2 was probably driven by whether LT would do the series or not and that would have driven the possible story lines. Once it was certain she wasn't doing it then I suppose a whole new story line was needed and that would take time to research and put together. It can't be easy to write a second series for someone else knowing how much people invested in CJ/MD and hearing them saying they don't like MK and won't watch. I think she's a good actress and she can't help being glamorous - you're only young once why not enjoy it. I bet she's relishing the chance to stretch herself in a different role and this could be great for her to show she's got more to offer. I just hope that it does come out this year. Given that Poldark's been put back for a ten week run in the Autumn, I can't see this coming out before whispers next year! eek!

Rhubarb01 · 20/01/2016 15:28

Oh and don't have Sky here so no chance of seeing Lucky Man Sad

Ilovelblue · 20/01/2016 15:47

Rhubarb I am the same as you and ice about MK. I think you expressed that very well. Give the girl a chance at the very least.

I don't have Sky either so won't be able to watch Lucky Man. As an aside, I heard Chris Evans say this morning about having a guest on his Friday show and then mentioned Lucky Man, but I have assumed it is James Nesbitt. He's already done the Graham Norton chat show so is probably doing the rounds.

Gorgeous day here. Did a 2 mile walk at lunchtime as well. Think it's going to be cold and frosty again tonight though then back to milder (and wetter?) weather.

Maddie how long before you are back at work?

pixieg1rl · 20/01/2016 15:48

No Sky here either rhu. Sorry, I'm not stumping up for it just to see BA flung out of a speedboat and into the Thames. I'm expecting some of his fanbase will get it up on youtube quickly enough.

DS's birthday tomorrow and I haven't wrapped a present yet. I'm away before dawn and not back until bedtime tomorrow so I won't be around to watch him unwrap any of them either, and feeling very pissed off about it all.

Rhubarb01 · 20/01/2016 15:56

Yes, pixie from what I've seen on the trailers that were run on ITV it does look worryingly like BA will get flung out of that boat and he's only in one episode! Hope he can swim!

Nickel45 · 20/01/2016 16:03

Maybe he'll have to emerge from the Thames all wet and shirt clinging to him a la Colin Firth ... or is that just in my imagination - crap day at work, have to do something to distract me!

Rhubarb01 · 20/01/2016 16:04

Ilove I had a long, cold frosty walk this morning as well as I've been trying to turn over a new leaf and walk to work and back but it's a very brisk 30 minute walk each way and can only be attempted in dry weather or I would look like a drowned rat on arrival. I suspect that it won't last very long because of the weather which is set to change according to Carol Kirkwood but this morning I did the country route and it was glorious looking at the frosty fields bathed in sunshine and a brilliant blue sky. Despite the cold it was really lovely and I felt so virtuous - gotta shift a few Christmas pounds somehow!

Rhubarb01 · 20/01/2016 16:08

Actually Nickel that's the second time today I've seen mention of the Colin Firth wet shirt episode - there was a letter in the Radio Times about him - and I've got a big confession to make - as much as I love that P&P version and Colin Firth's Darcy, the wet shirt episode does nothing for me! I'm always put off by his straggly hair and slightly strange expression when he sees Elizabeth afterwards. I'd rather see a CJ wet shirt episode. I'm going to slink away now and avoid the missiles!

Alwaysfrank · 20/01/2016 17:13

Sorry to hear MrKelly found his exam hard. Hopefully it was the same for everyone and the pass mark might be lower? I remember back to doing my accountancy exams and in one we had two 25 mark compulsory questions - 50% of the paper - on something we hadn't even covered in our lessons. I still passed which can only have been due to an adjusted pass mark.

Hearing about your frosty walks reminded me of what happened on Friday - DS had his last mock in the morning and asked if we could have lunch out. I agreed as long as he came for a walk with me after as it was a gorgeous sunny day. So we walked, and DS started moaning like a toddler that he needed the loo. By then we were along the river, near a very posh restaurant which I wouldn't let him go in. We carried on, him increasingly desperate and we remembered there are public toilets a bit further on (tmi but he needed a no 2!). In he went and within seconds 4 men emerged. A minute or so later, two more went in. Other than all these men there was no one around, and I realised DS was in the midst of our local gay cruising scene. Thankfully he emerged after what seemed like an age unharmed and oblivious, until I filled him in - at his age he needs to wise up! A quick Google when I got home confirmed my suspicions, I just hope no one checks my browsing history for a while or I have some explaining to do!

pixieg1rl · 20/01/2016 18:10

Oh dear Frank, I suppose knowing the local cottaging spots is something they should be aware of.

Cheer up nickel, all BAs clothes might just disintegrate as he flies out of the speedboat

Rhubarb01 · 20/01/2016 18:54

On pixie that reminds me of the Kenny Everett Porn actress character who always declared "And then all my clothes flew off!" and usually ended with her doing a Sharon Stone Basic Instinct legs uncrossing, re-crossing and the declaration "It was all done in the best possible taste!" For some reason I am now thinking of woo and wondering was that yet another incarnation all those years ago? I particularly liked the beard with the fake breasts!

Rhubarb01 · 20/01/2016 18:55

That would be you woof - woo is probably your shy alter-ego!

MaddieMoo82 · 20/01/2016 19:03

ilove I'm back the 23rd Feb. To be honest I'm looking forward to some adult conversation rather than babytv and one sided chats with the dog! The department has changed massively though and that worries me.

ah pixie that's rubbish can you open a present with DS tonight together?

Ilovelblue · 20/01/2016 22:30

Maddie did you say Mr Maddie works in the same department? Is he keeping you up to speed? Maybe once you get back in the midst of it all, you will start to feel better - maybe even that you've never been away. Have you kept in touch with some of your colleagues or have you given them all a wide berth?

I've just planned a meet up with Nickel, though it won't be until the summer. Need to make the most of the odd jaunt round the country. I'll be staying about 4 miles from Sandhurst. Wonder if I can nab myself a CJ lookalike any decent looking army officer would do at the same time?

MaddieMoo82 · 20/01/2016 22:49

Ah ilove your meet up plan sounds good and yes hanging around at sandhurst waiting for a CJ lookalike sounds like a great idea!
Yes MrMads works in the same place and informs me daily of the ins and out which is what worries me but hopefully it's not as bad as I think and how he makes it out. I have mostly kept a wide berth apart from one good work friend so will interesting going back

Ilovelblue · 20/01/2016 23:02

Maddie men do tend to have a different take on the comings and goings at work though, so is your work friend going to be more reliable on that score do you think?

MaddieMoo82 · 20/01/2016 23:16

Yeah that's true ilove! Friend says it the same as always but with new staff. I think that's what I'm worried about. There is probably 10 ish new graduates which have started since I have been away. A fair few policies and procedures have changed too. So it means coming back with a bit more of a senior role but not really nothing what I'm doing or who I'm doing it with. It will be fine I'm sure I'm just a bit of a worrier about these things and a bit rubbish at asking for help sometimes. I like to make it difficult!

KellyHb · 20/01/2016 23:33

Evening all

I meant to post earlier but we ended up watching stuff we recorded a while back.

always sorry to hear about earlier. Glad your DS was unaware what kind of place it was.

Hugs pix re: DS birthday. Is MrP back so he's with his Dad tomorrow during the day?

I used to like that Kenny Everett sketch rhu. I can see him now dressed up like that in my minds eye. Smile

DH declared earlier that he was going to buy a telescope as he loves astrology, space, stars etc as on a clear night, you do see quite well and he's going to keep it in the conservatory he says! Its quite small ours and to have a big telescope in there would rankle with me. Im going to blow that idea out the water before it comes into fruition. Angry

pixieg1rl · 21/01/2016 07:25

Managed to do a few presents with DS this morning. He leapt out of bed yelling 'I'm five!" MrP is doing the pick ups and drop offs, but the poor kid is still in before and after school clubs today. Hopefully he'll get lots of fuss from them.

Nickel45 · 21/01/2016 07:28

Happy birthday to your DS pix, hope you manage to get home before he got to bed xx
