Well there's certainly no doubt who the judges want to win - Jay gets my votes - I thought Kellie's was ugly, clunky and out of time

I've never liked Kellie, but she was excellent tonight. I've been team Jay all along, but he blew it. That showdance wasn't good either. He is so talented, he could have done so much better.

Horrible feeling the GBP will vote for katie and Anton just to say 'up yours Craig' which would be very unfair as she's not up to it.

Expected more from Aliona tbh. Have thought in the past that she choreographed more for herself than her partners but having had a few duffers & now Jay who can dance, I did think her "We're showcasing all the best bits" would have produced something more than it did tonight.

Lightbulbon Not sure I agree that show dances should always be Latin based. Tom Chambers' always stands out in my mind as it was so different and that was a ballroom/tap dancing one. I find a lot of the Latin ones very samey and merge together. Camilla, Tom's partner, was very clever in that sense as she played to his strengths and I think Anton should have done some wonderfully elegant, American Smooth style dance for Katie as it would have suited her more. If it hadn't been for that show dance, I don't think Tom would have won. Then again, Erin tried to play to Colin Jackson's strengths with a ballroom show dance and it went horribly wrong.

I'm not a fan of the show dances anyway. They big them up so much and they're always, always a disappointment. Every single year. I've watched Strictly since the beginning and the only ones I can remember are Tom's, Louis Smith's (and as a gymnast, he was bound to be brilliant at the lifts) and Lisa Snowdon's Bacofoil for all the wrong reasons. That dance never fails to make me laugh. Grin

I knew as soon as Aliona said it was going to be a compilation that it was a bad idea. I'm sure someone else has done that in the past and got slated for it. I thought KK's lindyhop looked more like a charleston as well. I've voted for GG anyway as I've been rooting for them all along.

MaryFlynn I find K&K very difficult to warm to and I don't know why. She's an excellent dancer, but I find her a little one note. There's not a lot of light and shade in her good dances. Their show dance just looked ugly to me. I don't like that style at all.

I must be on another planet because I loved Jay's showdance and I have no hatred towards Kellie and Kevin. I thought all the showdances (except Katie's) were great.

I just can't warm to KFG and I'm bored stiff by the comedy dance routines him and Kellie have done this season I also hate all the gurning facial expressions.

Wasn't Caroline Flack's show dance last year slow and ballet based?

She works so hard - She doesn't have the luxury of focussing completely on dancing like Jay, but has an intense schedule at Eastenders too.I worry about the lack of support on here for middle aged women.
Also - What is the problem with Kevin? He is an amazingly talented dancer and choreographer. Everyone who has worked with him seems to love him. Could Grimsby be the issue?

I think they should change the format of the final: ditch the judges' choice and make the showdance longer so they can do something more interesting and ambitious with it. Nearly all the showdances end up being underwhelming because they're too short and they don't have enough time to put it together and perfect it imo.

Why Jay and Aliona didn't pick their jive to do again I'll never know Confused

Well I guess Jay won't be doing his Jive for the obvious reason - he's already done it perfectly - it's online anyone can see it. Maybe the judges should have marked it properly the first time round - it wasn't their highest scoring dance, he didn't get tens because 'it was week three'.

Final is always a bit of a let down IME - a dance they've done badly in the past, a show dance - with very little time to prepare it, and another reprise.

I quite liked Jay showdance - understated - very him - he's not a bells and whistles dancing monkey - he's lyrical and thoughtful, he can't change his personality.

Judges are so transparently biased it is almost funny.

I quite liked Katie and Anton's dance too - totally mad Grin

Not sure about G and G's - felt a bit uncomfortable with the 'you're blind I'll fix you' bit - do blind people need fixing ?

Pandora's right, showdances never live up to the hype. When we were talking the other day about the dances we go back to on YouTube, the one showdance mentioned was Tom Chambers', and it's certainly the only one I remember. Apart from that, it was all individual dances from the relevant series, not necessarily even ones from the final. There's something to be said for abandoning the idea and making them all do their best dances - not least because Jay's jive would be absolutely right for the final, and we wouldn't have missed out on Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Charleston if that were the rule.

I'm a bit Confused as to why the show feels so flat .
The standard is high & there is no obvious winner . It should be very exciting.

James Jordan pointed out that he was top of the judge's leaderboard in two finals and never won.

Didn't love any of the show dances but agree it must be very hard with so little time to prepare.
