Will this do?

OP posts:

So the second resigning in eleven series, and both times it was people who otherwise would have progressed to the next stage.

Well Katie Hopkins has made a career since 2007 when she refused to accept her place in the final chosen 3 (walked). She said she would not uproot her children - but she always had young children when she auditioned. The Apprentice was her TV audition IMO - and her TV/media presence on This Morning etc. has taken her into an escalating media career.

The Apprentice: nobody makes a fool out of Sir Alan

So is Scott only the 2nd person to walk in 11 series?

sadwidow28 · 04/12/2015 00:05

The Apprentice's Scott Saunders: Why I told Lord Sugar 'I quit'

The Telegraph, 2nd December 2015

And he has now announced that he has launched a new business (I won't link as I think that is against MN rules)

Dipankrispaneven · 04/12/2015 07:38

It was a bit mean making fun of Richard saying "Gilliard". Apparently he's very dyslexic.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 04/12/2015 08:10

Interesting that Scott's business website isn't all branded with 'as appeared on The Apprentice' and with photos of his face. It actually makes it look more credible than previous contestants who plaster 'as seen on The Apprentice' over everything.

chemenger · 04/12/2015 08:21

We are all irritated by Charliene in our house. How can she say she has never had an issue with anyone other than Selina when we all saw that ridiculous task where she refused to talk to Richard even though she had made him sub-team leader? She constantly tries to cause trouble - every time she is in a taxi she is telling people what other people said about them to manipulate them. She may not have the unfortunate sulky face that Selina had but she's not far behind in terms of scheming. Has there been a week when she hasn't been reduced to a screaming harpy about something? Not someone I would want to work with. I'm really disappointed with the female candidates this year, except Vanya who seems to be quite intelligent and professional and has modified her behavior as the weeks go by rather than just stamping her feet and shouting.

regenerationfez · 04/12/2015 08:43

The comments on that Hatie Hopkins article are so funny. They have more or less predicted the future!

Dipankrispaneven · 04/12/2015 09:43

I wouldn't have thought "As seen on The Apprentice" is necessarily a good advertisement given that the main selection criterion seems to be ability to behave like a knob.

I thought it was a pity they didn't have the "Hired" and "Fired" boards for Selina on "You're Fired" despite her absence, it would have been quite revealing.

SheHasAWildHeart · 04/12/2015 10:31

Good news - Claude will be interviewing the candidates

ShelaghTurner · 04/12/2015 10:55

Thought I'd watch the first series as I only came in at about series 3. It's so sweary!! About four fucks in the first couple of minutes! Will have to send dd2 somewhere else...

APlaceOnTheCouch · 04/12/2015 10:58

Hurrah! for Claude interviewing Grin

I can't wait to see their business plans. There's always at least one complete disaster isn't there?

SheHasAWildHeart · 04/12/2015 14:36

I think Charliene has mentioned that her business plan is connected to her hair salon. Considered Lord Sugar has invested in Susan's skincare business, and last years skin clinic, he could add a hair salon to it and become a beauty expert!

And I think it's been mentioned that Gary's business plan is events, hence why Sugar made him PM to the party planning episode.

SheHasAWildHeart · 04/12/2015 14:38

fondly remembers the one who filled up pages with photos/pics/drawings
He went on to star in one of those cringe scripted reality shows, kinda like Made in Chelsea.

ArtfulPuss · 04/12/2015 15:01

It was a bit mean making fun of Richard saying "Gilliard".

I thought it was mean when AS said to him 'no one calls you Dick, at least not to your face' - and they all simpered. Even Richard himself. And the comment(s) about Joseph's moustache. It just felt like the piss-taking was all a bit too personal last night.

DH and I thought it weird that they barely mentioned Selina on You're Fired - we were hoping for a unanimous display of red. He reckons they were told not to go into it in case she tried to sue for character defamation or something.

SheHasAWildHeart · 04/12/2015 15:15

As I said before, I think Joseph was really hurt by the 'plumber with a silly moustache' comment, totally uncalled for and very, very unprofessional.

SheHasAWildHeart · 04/12/2015 15:18

I read somewhere that the tasks are filmed back to back so as soon as one finishes the do the next one the next day. The whole show is filmed in a month. No wonder Scott decided to call 'time out'. Having to live in a house 24/7 and work alongside such loud, intense personalities, compete against each, be belittled by Karen and Lord Sugar. It's bound to take a toll on anyone who isn't as loud and as strong as the others. I like the people I work with but no way would I want to live with them!

Dipankrispaneven · 04/12/2015 15:26

I must say, I'd hire Joseph as a plumber, he seems pretty sensible, and when they did the handyman task he seemed very determined that they were going to do a decent quality job.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 04/12/2015 16:35

I had an 'Oh bless' moment when Joseph said 'But it was a nice suit and the braces were under it' .

I thought all of that was out of order tbh - Sugar's comments and the arsey architect who told him to wear different clothes.

sadwidow28 · 04/12/2015 16:49

I also got the impression from a Nick Hewer interview that tasks are 'back-to-back'

I can't find that interview, but this is part of an article published about the same time:

TV presenter Nick Hewer has revealed the real reason he quit The Apprentice after a decade – he simply ‘ran out of puff.’

The 71-year-old former advisor to Lord Sugar on the programme, said he had left ‘with reluctance’ but added: ‘the physicality of it became too much and I found it exhausting. I didn’t have the energy.

‘It’s always a very long shoot and you are working all day, every day and running down pavements. I can’t do running down pavements anymore and writing briefing notes. I was puffed out.’

Now the host of afternoon TV show Countdown, Nick also revealed that Alan Sugar is seldom on the scene during filming – ‘he is only there for the boardrooms and briefing and relied on us to tell him everything. And so the debriefing sessions are painful because he wants to know who did what and at what time….’

The Daily Mail 14th September 2015

TesticleOfObjectivity · 04/12/2015 17:37

Although some of the personal comments are hurtful and it seems hammed up a bit for the cameras, it is a fact that people on the show are expected to look the part. I really think that Joseph should rethink the moustache if he wants to be taken seriously. It may be shallow but most people do make snap judgements based on appearance and the moustache does bring out a lot of feelings.

I think Vana or Richard could be the winner; Vana would be my pick of the two. Joseph is a good contender but hasn't really shone for me, and messed up on the property task. Charleine is a bit of a dark horse and I think people underestimate her, but she is a bit of a stirrer which I don't like. Brett seems a bit too hotheaded and Gary is a bit too blah (sorry). Plus I think he got away lightly on that party task. Scott walking wasn't a bad thing because I don't think he'd have won, but I did love watching him (because he is gorgeous).

I would have liked to have seen more of April, but I've only seen since week 4 so I missed seeing her as team leader. I get the impression she didn't do too well. I watched them all on iPlayer but was too late to see the first three episodes sadly.

var123 · 04/12/2015 19:59

Doesn't it all depend on the quality of the business idea and the business plan?

e.g. it could be 1995 and you could invent facebook, but if you don't write a good business plan about why it should work and how you'll do it, then you'll lost the £250k

chocomochi · 04/12/2015 20:20

Charleine grates on me too. Richard and Vana seem like the two best candidates to go through. But imagine the previous candidates having to work for Richard as pm in the final task - wonder if they would sabotage him on purpose?

Joseph seems like a nice bloke and will do a good job on tasks. Brett just seems too hotheaded and Gary doesn't seem to know what he's doing sometimes!

SheHasAWildHeart · 04/12/2015 20:43

Charlieine always reminds me of that one kid at school who'd go running to the teacher anytime someone else misbehaved.

wideboy26 · 04/12/2015 23:18

Vana needs to rethink her eye make up to stand a chance of winning. Lord Sugar will be criticising that next. She has nice legs though, so he might overlook the eye make up. That seems to be the depth of the thought process in his decisions.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 09/12/2015 10:34

I'm just randomly updating because this thread had fallen down my list. Happy watching tonight!

SheHasAWildHeart · 09/12/2015 11:46

It's healthy snacks episode today. What will they make?! The clips at the end of last week's episode showed really oily veg.
