Will this do?

OP posts:

I was actually howling at You're Fired last night - Romesh is really really funny with his quips and then when Gabby Logan chipped in with the 'boom boom boom' it finished me off.

What annoys me is Jack reads a question and then sees what the reaction is and then reads the next question. Whether or not it is answered or something else comes up, he's just fixated on following the question list. Eg he asked about the t shirts then it went off at a tangent but he didn't go back to asking about the t shirts.

BondJayneBond · 26/11/2015 10:16

I love Romesh. He's a great addition to You're Fired.

Moln · 26/11/2015 10:25

Haven't bothered with You've Been Fired this year, didn't even attempted a few minutes.

Jack Dee I tend to find is rude and insulting rather than pokes fun at someone (though I'm sure he thinks he's managed it). Also I find he's a very delver punch line, bask in reaction, move on to next 'joke' type of comedian. I also expect him to do jazz hands after some things he says, in a 'da dar aren't I funny and clever' way. Bit like David Brent, apart from Jack Dee likes to present as droll and isn't easily amused.

Dara is a very natural humorous way.

emotionsecho · 26/11/2015 10:52

I can't believe Richard got away with the appalling timing of the catering on the girls party, they had to give a burger to one girl who was leaving ffs! Honestly, if I was the mother in that instance I would have been on that like a tonne of bricks at the time, never mind naff party bags when are the children going to be fed either produce it with 'x' minutes or send out for takeaway at your expense.

vickibee · 26/11/2015 10:59

Anyone who can spend £2000 on a party for a 11 yo has more £ than sense!
No one stands out this year

I still love the main event though & think Claude is a fabulous addition.

Think I would have preferred him to remain in the interviews. Presumably he will not be doing them this year, and there isn't anyone else like him unless they bring in someone new.

flustercuck · 26/11/2015 11:30

The party bags I like are the ones that contain just one decent thing like a book or a nail varnish. I'm sure pretty much every parent on this site that has organised a child's party before could have won that task at a canter.

CFSsucks · 26/11/2015 13:58

Dara is on tour at the moment (come on Saturday!) so I'm assuming that's why he can't do you're fired this year. Romesh should present it. He is brilliant and has me in stitches every week. I love his dead pan humour and when he tries to do the tasks.

I agreed with Richard that a BBQ was better. Shame it looked shit.

I was willing Selina to fail because I really hate her sneering face.

Charliene and Vincent had nothing to answer for tbh. Gary told the parents they used Nutella which they hadn't but they lost confidence after that.

The party bus and ropes with no running was so cringey!

All party bags were a shower of shite and were not worth more than a quid.

I have thrown a better party with a £25 hall and a £25 DJ, party bags 50p each (and better stuff than that crap) party food, made a cake. Boom done and probably not much more than £100 for nearly 50 kids.

DH seems to think Claude might still interview them. I don't think he will because he knows them and would be biased. He actually seems nice, he keeps smiling and trying not to laugh.

regenerationfez · 26/11/2015 14:59

The most expensive things I have had to pay for at a kids party is the entertainer at about £200. They didnt even have that, as they did the entertainment themselves. What the parents got for their £2000 i dont know. We must just not be in showbiz circles, as Romesh Ranganatham and Gabby Logan clearly didnt think there was anything amiss with the 2k party budget on you're fired and they have a few kids between them. I'd want bloody luxury for that, with professionals doing the entertainment and party bags included.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 26/11/2015 16:46

Anyone else fancy moving to London and becoming a kids' party organiser? I can't believe how expensive those parties were Shock

I agree with the PP that Gary's team were at a disadvantage having the parent with the nut allergy. We have allergies in our family and we're always checking packaging/ingredients. It's pretty standard. If you have a bad allergy, you don't leave your health to someone else.

I felt a bit sad to see David go. I remember the first time my DSIS tried to put a photo on a T-shirt - the writing ended up back to front. It's quite an easy mistake to make.

I quite liked Brett in this task for the first time ever

BYOSnowman · 26/11/2015 16:51

He should have bought more than ten!

BondJayneBond · 26/11/2015 17:16

Yeah, you've got to make allowances for a couple of spare t-shirts to practice on if you're doing that kind of thing.

eddiemairswife · 26/11/2015 17:24

Surely if they were making the birthday cake on the day of the party it should have been done first thing in the morning. Don't know who I want to win. I liked Scott until last week when he ignored the one who was fired. I can't stand either of Selina and Charlene.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 26/11/2015 18:28

BYOS yy you have to allow for wastage Grin .

Boswellox · 26/11/2015 19:30

Often someone on the winning team can perform worse than someone on the losing team, but gets a free pass because their team won. Next season I'd have a rule that no one is safe. A Joker card could be played by SurAlan. (Copyright me.)

ArtfulPuss · 26/11/2015 20:02

Has he ever fired someone from the winning team?

I would LOVE that. Especially the "you tosser" bit. Grin

SheHasAWildHeart · 27/11/2015 07:00

Best bit was when Charlene got up to go and he was like "where are you off to?" Imagine if he'd then fired her on the spot! And what was all that winding Joseph in the car about? Doing herself no favours.

emotionsecho · 27/11/2015 18:11

I think he fired one contestant last year before they knew what the outcome of the task was for refusing to be Project Manager, he certainly fired him before the 'pick two' moment, but yes it would be great if he fired an annoying twunt from the winning team!

I loved Joseph's clear, unambiguous description of the T-shirts - "they were shit", no room for misinterpretation thereGrin. Even though he does remind me of Micky in OFAH and the spiv in St. Trinian's I have actually warmed to him over the past few weeks, he certainly impressed in the DIY Task.

I do wish the women wouldn't be so obviously bitchy and manipulative. Charlene is really plumbing low depths with her behaviour to Richard (even if he is a knob there are better ways to deal with him) and the stirring in the taxi so I was quite pleased that Sralan shot her down when she tried to make a quick getaway.

BYOSnowman · 27/11/2015 18:13

If he can fire from the winning team it removes the incentive to win and then it's about making yourself look good whilst achieving nothing

And it's the best way to keep the comical no hopers in

emotionsecho · 27/11/2015 20:06

I know what you're saying is right BYO but it would be funny if he did it, especially if he phrased it a la Maryz.

eddiemairswife · 29/11/2015 18:13

In the Radio Times for 9th December it says, "Last week (ie this week 2nd Dec) a boardroom twist that breaks the mould."

ENtertainmentAppreciated · 29/11/2015 20:06

I think the Daily Mail have given it away already Confused
