Corrie thread - we haven't even got a dog storyline to keep us going now

A new thread as we head towards the worst part of every soap year - Christmas.

Dreading the return of Simon.

Dreading more of the arr Gareh & Alya "plot".

When did the brewery close and become a convenient empty garage?

Make yourself at home and get ready for more totally hopeless acting - it has to improve soon, surely?

OP posts:

Fiz and Tyrone's house is so cluttered, and messy looking. I read a comment somewhere that it looks like it is being kept like a shrine to the Duckworths, Grin, but it looks awful, IMO.

Cannot imagine living at Ken's house, they are all in such a small space, and have so much drama / nonsense going on all of the time.

cleanmachine · 22/12/2015 11:07

It's so rubbish these days. I'm struggling to watch.

SymphonyofShadows · 22/12/2015 12:57

IIRC Len Fairclough built Dev's house in a gap. Fiz and Tyrone's house makes me want to throw gallons of white paint at it.

millimat · 22/12/2015 13:19

Yes symphony, he did.

SymphonyofShadows · 22/12/2015 13:29

Perhaps that's why the kitchen seems slightly more roomy? Kev's house seems quite big compared to the others. I'm quite looking forward to seeing how it plays out with him and Anna, a bit of an escape from the grimness!

HirplesWithHaggis · 22/12/2015 17:24

MrsUltra Joanne was the overly-chatty blonde with whom Kev had a first date. I rather liked the stream-of-consciousness stuff.

MrsUltra · 22/12/2015 17:46

Has anyone recently looked a the first ever episode of Corrie?
I did recently - funny to see Ken as a ?21? year old

MrsUltra · 22/12/2015 17:50

I think they don't actually have writers, I think they have two big buckets.
You've nailed it! Grin

ellenanora5 · 22/12/2015 19:37

I'm can't look at Fiz and Tyrones wall without sunglasses, apart from the hideous wallpaper the stuff they having hanging on really makes it worse, and for goodness sake do up that kitchen, Tyrone is in the house years you would think he would make a few changes, apart from upstairs, which we never see.

I wonder will Robert realise how awful Tracey is and move onto Leanne, but that will only lead to more screaming on the street and in the bistro....yawn yawn yawn

ProfYaffle · 23/12/2015 12:28

I'm catching up with Monday's episodes - talk about dull, I'm struggling to watch.

eddiemairswife · 23/12/2015 14:01

It looks as if there will be a ping-pong storyline. Xmas Sad

AuntieStella · 23/12/2015 14:11

Ping pong likely to be better than absolutely everything else.

Ladytron11 · 23/12/2015 19:00

Watched Love Actually last night and there was a "youthful" Johnny as one of Hugh Grant's PM's aides! Never seen him in anything before but he must have been in loads of stuff.

More Rob please! What was the chances of Robert answering the phone right on cue, eh?

Rachel0Greep · 24/12/2015 10:27

Yes, same here, watched Love Actually at the weekend, and there was Johnny. I presume, if he had a properly written part, in Corrie, he would be a much stronger character.

I watched last night, and, at times, it almost seemed as if the characters had to make up lines. Dreadful stuff.

Fantasyland · 24/12/2015 22:38

I really love the relationships between Tim and Craig and also Tim and Kevin.

It's really lovely that Craig is portrayed as a nice boy (even though lads from single mothers usually aren't portrayed like that.)
I really hope they keep Craig like that and hope script writers don't think he is boring and have him going off the rails.

SymphonyofShadows · 25/12/2015 00:05

Loved 'lady garden' and Mary and the wrong entrance tonight

MissBattleaxe · 25/12/2015 00:11

Yy I love Craig. Its so sweet watching him grow up. He's so kind

southeastdweller · 25/12/2015 16:25

Happy Christmas all Xmas Smile

Just read that Melanie Hill (Cathy) is going to get a big story in the new year so I'm looking forward to that.

hildasmuriel · 25/12/2015 18:42

Lady Garden needs more story lines I feel.Grin

BoGrainger · 25/12/2015 20:03

Haven't watched for weeks but is Rob out of prison already? Seriously? He killed someone in cold blood. I know most posters on here like him but not me! Rot in hell you horrible person! I'm certainly not tuning in again if he is free Shock

KenDoddsDadsDog · 25/12/2015 20:34

No he's still in and pretending to Tracy love that he's getting out.

Fantasyland · 25/12/2015 21:21

I missed Deirdre today. It's not the same without her with a Xmas hat on singing cooking some stuffed marrow drunk Sad

I did like the Lapland and it did make me feel a bit more xmassy though

LineyReborn · 26/12/2015 08:29

So Tracey Luv has left home with just a carrier bag? Yeah right.

Seeyounearertime · 26/12/2015 09:09

I swear Corrie just gave up this year.
We don't even watch EastEnders or Emmerdale but I just know they were better than the Corrie Christmas.

LineyReborn · 26/12/2015 09:17

It's as though the characters have all undergone personality realignments, but with no discernible purpose. They are all duller, stupider, crapper, sillier.

When Corrie 'works' it's because it taps into some realistic archetypal narratives as well as dealing out the deft comedy gold - but this stuff is delivering neither.
