Thought about mentioning Halloween Hell in the title but it's a Sunday morning and some of us may be feeling delicate enough.

have to say as a viewer who knows nothing about dancing.... i tend to vote for people I "know" or like.... bad I know\so like this week it was
\Jay, Anita and Katie(Prom lady)
I don't watch EE,CS,LW so they mean nothing to me and peter is so fake he makes me heave

GruntledOne · 01/11/2015 01:41

I think Jay's jive stood out so much in the film week because, apart from the dance being so good, it wasn't overtaken by the theme, Jay and Aliona looked 'normal', and they just stood up and got on with the actual dance.

It was a brilliant dance but it was totally on theme. There's a clip online of the original dance in Pulp Fiction, and you can see that they used quite a lot from that.

I thought NPP was going to be in difficulty once he'd got past the sort of dances where he could stomp around posing, and lo it has come to pass. I suspect they'll be shoehorning him into the Argentinian Tango in the near future.

GruntledOne · 01/11/2015 01:43

I thought the judges marked Kirsty unfairly low because they'd painted themselves into a corner by undermarking Katy immediately beforehand. It was ridiculous of Craig to give Katy a 4, and he was then left with no choice but to give Kirsty a 3 because he couldn't honestly claim she was as good as Katy.

RozTheSchnoz · 01/11/2015 06:49

Missed last night's and for some reason it hasn't recorded either; does anyone know how long it takes to come on Iplayer?

areyoubeingserviced · 01/11/2015 08:27

NPP also annoys me too.
He needs to actually take the advice he is given

MrsJamin · 01/11/2015 08:59

Some of the dances and scores last night were shocking! Really carol or jeremy should go on ability alone but they are both very likeable. I think jamelia is learning the hard way that she is not. None of the dances yesterday really stood out.

GrouchyKiwi · 01/11/2015 09:23

Rox It should e on iPlayer already. Tends to come up quite soon after the show ends.

I would like Carol or Jeremy to go - maybe Carol first. I'm getting to the point now where I want them all to be capable of doing the dance and the rest of them are - even Kirsty, she just got thrown last night when she mucked up. I've now reached the point where the ones who can't dance are ruining it for me.

Jeremy is ALWAYS fun to watch, but Dad dancing is Dad dancing. Carol just makes me sad now because she tries so hard but can't do it.

SheHasAWildHeart · 01/11/2015 09:27

In regards to the scores yesterday I don't understand Craig's 6 to Anita. Added to the the fact that they always have her near the beginning of the show means that she won't go as far as she deserves to.
Helen and Peter closing the show is becoming predictable.

ScentedJasmine · 01/11/2015 09:36

Give Anton his due there was no messing about and I thought they were under marked.
What's going on?

SheHasAWildHeart · 01/11/2015 09:40

Judges are picking their faves now and will undermark others in comparison.

AnyoneButAndre · 01/11/2015 10:07

The whole "Anton is holding Katie back" narrative was undermined by that Paso. Lovely routine, Anton danced it perfectly well but Katie was hopelessly un Paso - she looked like she was floating across the floor. I wonder if she watched her Salsa back and whether she'll watch the Paso back and be able to see the problem.

I thought Gleb's choreography was excellent on the waltz. I don't know what the powers that be are doing with Anita. I hope she's getting the votes but suspect she might not be.

SheHasAWildHeart · 01/11/2015 10:40

The judges totally ignored Gleb's choreography and I think the storytelling was too clever to Len. I think if Jay or Helen had danced that the judges would have been more enthusiastic, instead they were pretty lukewarm about it. The judges seem to love the already trained dancers and seem to have forgotten what they show is about.

AnyoneButAndre · 01/11/2015 10:44

Claudia went out of her way to praise Gleb's choreography. Mind you I bet she has seen the film.

wowfudge · 01/11/2015 10:46

Some of the celebs are improving, whereas PA had a strong start and doesn't seem to be progressing imo. I got the distinct impression Carol got really low scores this week because it's getting to the point where it will be unfair if someone else goes out as they are all actually better than her.

The hallowe'en thing is a bit style over substance I think.

oneowlgirl · 01/11/2015 11:01

Totally agree Anyone.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 01/11/2015 11:36

I was just re-watching the dances on iPlayer and Jeremy's dance reminded me that I saw someone wearing a Thriller leather jacket yesterday. Shock I couldn't quite believe it, I had to slow the car down a bit as I passed to get a proper look and it definitely was a Thriller jacket. It looked vintage (actually, I'm sure it must have been vintage because I can't imagine that any have been made recently).

JuanPotatoTwo · 01/11/2015 12:43

You know what I don't understand? All over the Internet and the media (well, maybe not all over but certainly in one or two places) there are remarks commenting on Tess. Generally not favourably. So the opinion on her awfulness is pretty widespread. So how does she keep the job? I just don't get it.

oneowlgirl · 01/11/2015 13:07

I've said it before on here Juan - but I like her (& like Claudia much less) so presumably I'm not the only one Smile

GruntledOne · 01/11/2015 13:17

But then there were much worse comments about Brucie for years and he didn't go until he chose to. I'm not sure whether the problem is that they have a major Thing about tradition, or whether they're worried that if they boot Tess she'll publicise just how much she had to prop Brucie up over the years.

Clawdy · 01/11/2015 13:18

Much prefer Tess to Claudia. Can't bear that brittle hard persona, a bit disturbing. Loved Anita's dance last night, that slow, dark version of Once Upon a Dream was very clever.

AnyoneButAndre · 01/11/2015 13:19

Brucie was physically and mentally not up to the job by the end. Tess is capable...as long as they stop scripting her jokes which she is totally unable to deliver.

GruntledOne · 01/11/2015 13:19

I suspect that Carol also may have caught the fall out from the undermarking of Katie. They couldn't claim that Kirsty was as good as Katie, hence things like Craig's 4 for her, and when Carol came along they couldn't claim she was comparable with Kirsty, hence the 3. I wonder what the marks would have been like if they'd started with someone like NPP?

emotionsecho · 01/11/2015 13:26

Going by previous series being the favourite of the Judges is the kiss of death, particularly once the public have full control of the voting.

Someone said earlier that they think Tess did a deal with the BBC along the lines of her being given the main presenter role as a reward for having to put up with and cover up for Brucie for all those years, there may be a grain of truth in that somewhere.

I still think Zoe Ball would be the far better presenter she knocks both Claudia and Tess into a cocked hat.

oneowlgirl · 01/11/2015 13:36

I find Zoe irritating as she comes across as smug & loving herself - funny how we all see people differently whist watching the same thing!

Sparklingbrook · 01/11/2015 13:44

I love Zoe, she's a natural presenter. She doesnt take herself seriously.
