I spent the whole week ignoring the Guardian's US blog on episode 1. It is so cruel to taunt us UK viewers with it.

Has anyone else seen the promo? I love it!

The first series was so bloody good, cant wait for season 2 to finally start.

Brilliant cast this year as well with Nick Offerman and Jesse Plemmons (who will always be Landry from FNL to me,despite being awesome in Breaking Bad)

gingerboy1912 · 18/10/2015 10:53

Marking place as looking forward to this, loved the first series,

BitOfFun · 19/10/2015 21:49

Any minute now...

Baconyum · 19/10/2015 22:53

Do I need to have seen the first series/the film recently to watch series 2? Considering watching on +1

gingercat12 · 19/10/2015 23:05

Baconyum I have not seen season 2 yet, but my guess is no, you do not need to see season 1. Based on season 1, Fargo is a kind story universe, so there were connections between the film Fargo and season 1, but seeing both only enhanced the viewing experience, it was not necessary. After seeing season 1 a lot of us worked out that the next season will play out in the 1970s and guessed who the characters would be in season 2.

They are stand alone series, so I hope you've decided to go for it.

I thought that episode was brilliant, and I can't wait a whole week for the next one...so much so, that I'm rewatching series one on Netflix Grin

Hello!
I have just watched the first ep (pregnant, simply cannot stay up to watch something at 10pm). Loved it.

I like how that's 6yo Molly and her Dad.
I love the cast - though I especially like Kieran Culkin, so sad that he didn't last too long.
Will deffo miss Billy Bob this series too, he was outstanding I thought.

leccybill · 20/10/2015 20:55

Yes Billy Bob was incredible in series 1.
Liking Ted Dan's on in this. A really good first episode.

BitOfFun · 21/10/2015 01:20

"I like how that's 6yo Molly and her Dad."

OMG, how did I not spot that! Thank you Grin

gingerboy1912 · 21/10/2015 07:28

6 year old Molly and her dad?? Do you mean that in real
Life they are father and daughter?

ThursdayLastWeek · 21/10/2015 07:30

No ginger I mean that this is a prequel - such as it can be in Fargo land Grin

ThursdayLastWeek · 21/10/2015 07:31

Oh, I also credit the Radio Times website for the discovery - I am not that quick on the uptake!

Anastasie · 21/10/2015 07:49

Bugger, I saw a few trailers and thought it was a remake of the original series. So it's by the same people then?

Can I watch it online anywhere? We don't have Netflix, I don't think (though it has a button for it on our telly!)

Anastasie · 21/10/2015 07:50

Btw I just watched the original series, and the film for the second time on DVD. I never rewatch stuff, it is seriously good to be able to do that and still love every minute and not fast forward.

ThursdayLastWeek · 21/10/2015 08:43

I think it'll be on the channel four site Anastasie, and I'm sure it'll be repeated, probably on more4 later in the week

Anastasie · 21/10/2015 09:08

Thank you very much, found it on channel 4 site. Smile
phew

lorelei9 · 21/10/2015 22:26

I recorded it, just watched the first five minutes.

Is it all like that? I'm really pooped so going to bed but it was so weird, I found myself wondering if it's my type of thing. Never saw season 1.

ThursdayLastWeek · 21/10/2015 22:30

It is quite weird, but it does come together.

My trick to getting on with it is to not think about it too much Smile

lorelei9 · 21/10/2015 22:32

I'm probably too tired, I'll give it a bash tomorrow. Thanks.

Anastasie · 22/10/2015 07:45

I think having seen the first one helps a lot. I can't get past Kirsten Dunst and her Mary Jane persona though which is a shame, though Ted Danson is epic - really not recognisable. He even changes his voice.

I also can't see Lou the elder in Lou the younger, I think Danson looks and acts much more like him in fact.

Other than that it was true to form. Maybe my expectations are a little high though as the first series blew me away both times, even with Martin Freeman, who is now, in my mind, no one else but Lester Nygaard, for ever Smile

gingerboy1912 · 22/10/2015 10:06

I have to say I'm not a big fan of Kirsten dunst her facial expressions don't seem to change. I also found the scene of her persuading her husband to cover up the hit and run a bit Hmm

lorelei9 · 22/10/2015 10:10

I usually like Kirsten Dunst

And Ted Danson - wow, after seeing him in Damages I just think he is the most astonishingly great actor and possibly not that much credited for it? Or maybe he is and I just don't know.

Anastasie · 22/10/2015 10:58

I don't actually think Kirsten Dunst should be in it. I think she is just wrong. And tbh I don't like her in anything I've seen.

diddl · 22/10/2015 19:58

I was really disappointed.

The first series really grabbed me & this hasn't.

Although of course I want to know how it pans out.

Lou Solverson in this reminds me of Gus Grimly in series 1.

Anastasie · 22/10/2015 20:01

I suppose it is a bit like the stone roses second album. They are a bit too self conscious now and the magic is missing slightly.

I will withold proper judgment till the second ep though I think

yy he is like Gus Smile obvs Molly would go for a man like that.
