Fargo Season 2

I spent the whole week ignoring the Guardian's US blog on episode 1. It is so cruel to taunt us UK viewers with it.

Has anyone else seen the promo? I love it!

I thought the first series was very self conscious too! This is about the on,y series I forgive for being so self-aware - did any if you guys watch Fortitude? That was crazy about itself but shit at the same time Grin

I'm hoping that KD will be a Martin Freeman/Lester Nygard equivalent. Like, seemingly miscast, but actually using their 'usual' roles to cover the deep deep dark inside them. Does that make sense?

Yes I agree, v much like Gus -though with a harder core I reckon.

gingercat12 · 25/10/2015 15:54

Thursday I agree. I also felt that Kristen December is this year's Lester.

Just marking my place so I can find you easily tomorrow when I've watched it!

mummytime · 27/10/2015 08:14

Hi! Just watched no 1 - last night and No 2 this morning.

The unspoken menace when the Sheriff stopped the car on the isolated road, was fabulous, and great acting from Ted Danson.

I love the contrast of this with most US shows/films, showing the really different culture in this part compared to California/New York. The way people say a lot without speaking.

I think Kirsten Dunst has given good indications that she is at least a Sociopath, and I worry for her poor dumb husband.

I also love the gangster's Mom!

Anastasie · 27/10/2015 15:37

Gosh who is it plays Floyd Gerhardt? She reminds me of a sort of mixture of Imelda Staunton, Maggie Smith and Judi Dench!

Oh it's Jean Smart...I have to look up what else she has been in.

Loved the second ep. Smile Even Kirsten is getting more believable.

ThursdayLastWeek · 27/10/2015 20:58

Eeeeewwwww that was gross! As if I didn't expect anything else Grin

mummytime · 27/10/2015 21:49

Actually having worked out who the guy who is KD's husband was in Breaking Bad, I think he has an amazing range of acting. Dumb but basically good in this but Dumb and very evil in BB. Quite tricky to seem so different.

leccybill · 28/10/2015 21:08

Ooh, who was he in Breaking Bad? I thought I recognised him.

mummytime · 28/10/2015 21:29

Todd Alquist - a very different role.

FuglySandals · 29/10/2015 12:46

The mob family mom was Frasier's crush from High School, who he went to the reunion with! The one who screamed 'PUT YOUR BROTHER ON' down the phone when she was in bed with Frasier Grin

Some great acting again in this series.

Travelledtheworld · 30/10/2015 21:08

Signing in to join in with you Fargo fans.
I am in the need of some black humour.
I thought this was brilliant.
Love the snowy landscapes and the whole 1970s retro style : clothes, cars, hairstyles, town landscapes, interiors. Brilliantly done.
The mincing machine scene was literally toe curing.

batshitlady · 04/11/2015 17:16

I found the story in the first episode a bit far fetched. Very well made though!

gingercat12 · 04/11/2015 18:11

I am loving this year's equivalent of Billy Bob, i.e. Mike Milligan and the twins (who are this year's odd couple). Also the Gerhardts, even Dodd's (?) daughter is a proper gangster.
Molly Solverson seems to have inherited her mother's brain.
I expect an epic battle scene at the Gerhardt's farm, but in season 1 Lou Solverson mentioned a scene from this season (I do not write it down in case it is considered spoiler) and that took place elsewhere.
Will Molly's Mom die? She seems to have been raised by her Dad just like Colin Hanks was raising his daughter alone in season 1.
Who do we think will bury the money in the ground which connects the stories? Or is it already there?

OP posts:
ThursdayLastWeek · 05/11/2015 21:11

Ooh the buried money I forgot about that...

Another grizzly ending, this show gives me the willies.

Loving Lou Soverson, I'm developing quite a crush!
The oldest Gerhardt seems like a weird Jim Carrey version of a baddie - even with that grizzly ending I still find it hard to take him seriously.

I also love LOVE the 70s styling too!

batshitlady · 06/11/2015 08:36

For me Kirstin Dunst running over the bloke (how she didn't see him in the road isn't clear BTW) and not just going to the Police. Driving all the way home with a half dead man on the bonnet and no one noticing etc, and him not sliding off, is all a bit hard to believe.

Surely her husband would have come home, realised she's in shock and called the cops? But he says nothing, finishes him off and chops him up. I can't really believe it

SymphonyofShadows · 07/11/2015 12:56

I can't believe that Jeffrey Donovan is so grim in this, he was so hot in Burn Notice

ThursdayLastWeek · 07/11/2015 17:29

I've never seen him in anything else Symphony

I just did a quick Google and yes, his normal look is much more acceptable Grin

gingercat12 · 07/11/2015 18:13

I looked him up, too. Wow! It is probably just his antiquated and offensive views in Fargo that make him so repellent.

OP posts:
SymphonyofShadows · 08/11/2015 12:52

I think he's quite a versatile actor. In Burn Notice his character often had to do a variety of other voices/characters. He was always hot though Grin

gingercat12 · 10/11/2015 21:52

This week's was a classic again. Hanzee with his quiet menace and totally inappropriate name is my current favourite.

The psycho Mrs Blumquist will clearly live to see the next day, but Bud must be a goner. He is so hopeless, and someone must pay.

Lou and Betsy are heartbreaking. She is clearly dying, isn't she? Hasn't she got the look, but they can't see it?

OP posts:
SymphonyofShadows · 14/11/2015 15:22

Just caught up. I reckon she (Betsy?) is on the placebos. Do we think the guy hiding in the house is up the chimney?

gingercat12 · 15/11/2015 10:57

Symphony For some reason I always thought in Season 1 that Molly was brought up by Lou alone, so they must be placebos.

Wherever Hanzee is hiding, butcher boy had it. But chimney is a good guess.

gingercat12 · 24/11/2015 22:11

Is noone else watching? Best thing on tv right now. Nick Offerman was absolutely superb as an attorney.

I also think that Dodd and Peggy would be the ultimate power couple.

How can Dodd's daughter be so thick?! I immediately knew what Mike Milligan was going to do.

OP posts:
partystress · 24/11/2015 22:27

Hello Ginger you are not alone! Loving this almost more than series 1. The compelling baddie count is higher this time. Just love Milligan, and Bear is emerging as a really interesting character too. Agree about the placebos - unless she gets caught up somehow 😢

diddl · 25/11/2015 21:46

What episode are you up to?

I'm not enjoying it as much as Series 1.

I just loved most of the characters.

I'm really quite bored by the Gerhardts.
