I spent the whole week ignoring the Guardian's US blog on episode 1. It is so cruel to taunt us UK viewers with it.

Has anyone else seen the promo? I love it!

So all the Gerhardts are dead?

Am intrigued as to what the outcome of this will be?

Milligan vs Hamzee(sp) vs The Butcher/Peggy vs the Law.

Hmmm

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 15/12/2015 23:01

Isn't the young lad still alive in prison?

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 15/12/2015 23:02

And is Ted Danson going to kick the bucket?

iwantgin · 15/12/2015 23:13

Ah yes, the youngest Gerhardt. He is.

Ted Danson looked in a bad way.

Am surprised no one called through to let cop know that his wife had collapsed?

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 16/12/2015 12:30

Hope Mrs Cop is OK. Though possibly not, because wasn't Molly's mother dead in season 1?

I bloody love Fargo - best thing since Breaking Bad.

gingercat12 · 19/12/2015 12:54

DH taught Martin Freeman was narrating, too.

Based on previous Fargo films everyone will die but Lou and Molly.

I love Hanzee. The two Vietnam vets left battling it out. So sad.

I also loved Ted Danson sending a Christmas card to the bloke who defied Eisenhower just because he can.

But who will bury the money? Mike Miligan? Kansas City mob? Perhaps the Gerhardts earlier on?

DH and I keep saying we are actualising. And being it, not thinking it. Thanks Peggy.

And want was the significance of the book starting in 1825?

SymphonyofShadows · 20/12/2015 07:42

The money was buried by Steve Buscemi in the movie. It was that single thing that tied the film and the first series together.

The UFO was in it before wasn't it? Didn't someone 'lose' time out by the Waffle Hut when there were strange lights in the sky?

gingercat12 · 20/12/2015 10:18

Symphony I just thought the money would be in this one, too. But you are right.

The youngest Gerhardt brother saw the UFO, that is how he got run over.

Ted Danson clearly saw them, too.

I'm loving this series. How many are there to go? Can't be more than one or two.

gingercat12 · 20/12/2015 21:09

Maybe one more episode with probably the scene Lou was describing to Molly.

gingercat12 · 21/12/2015 23:08

'You'll know when the angels are coming, because they have the faces of your children.'

It is probably as much of a happy ending as it gets in Fargo.

ComposHatComesBack · 22/12/2015 01:10

I can't decide if the UFO was genius or whether it ruined the episode for me. Weird though

As that episode was narrated via 'The true history of crime ...' book, I assumed that the UFO was a product of the author of that fictional tome's interest/belief in UFOs rather than the event actually happened that way.

The timing is significant too, this series of Fargo is set in 1979 the same year the first Alien film came out and the there was an increase in the number of sightings after the film (much as there was a massive increase in shark sittings post Jaws)

I could be wrong mind.

gingercat12 · 22/12/2015 08:02

compos I think you are right. To me the 70s were UFO era, so it is fitting that they all thought they saw one.

A lot of it is to do with who the narrator is. Last week Hanzee was portrayed in a more sympathetic light, while this week he was a demon in other people's imagination.

Do you think we the characters for the next series in Betty's vision for the future?

OP posts:
Pipistrella · 22/12/2015 08:44

That was a bit of an anti climax! I was thrilled by the other episodes, but this felt a bit flat.

Maybe it was in the shadow of the Bridge a little bit Smile

Still, very good and all.

ComposHatComesBack · 22/12/2015 08:57

Yep, the portrayal of Hanzee was very different this week wasn't it? I think I need to rewatch the whole series.

Perhaps the first series of Fargo was Betty's vision of the future as we saw saw Alison Tolman as the adult Molly.

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 22/12/2015 08:59

Did you clock that the deaf boy at the end was the deaf chap in the first series before he grew up?

ComposHatComesBack · 22/12/2015 09:01

Yes. I wonder if he becomes Hanzee's protégé?

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 22/12/2015 09:42

They become Mr Wrench and Mr Numbers from Season 1.

Moses Tripoli was the Fargo gang boss who ordered the death of Lorne Malvo. Malvo killed him.

This is good reading [http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2015/12/fargo-who-is-moses-tripoli-season-2-finale-recap-palindrome]

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 22/12/2015 09:44

Sorry, Linky thing didn't work.

ComposHatComesBack · 22/12/2015 10:07

Ahhhh yes.

gingercat12 · 22/12/2015 10:21

MrsLeigh Thank you for the link and Mr Wrench and Mr Numbers. [takes a bow]

OP posts:
Pipistrella · 22/12/2015 11:18

Looking at that link it seems more likely that the 'surviving Kitchen Brother' bumped off Hanzee at some stage and filched his ticket Grin

He looks NOTHING LIKE Hanzee.

2rebecca · 22/12/2015 13:34

I think it should have finished last week. This week was an anticlimax. Disappointed they let the butcher die.

gingercat12 · 22/12/2015 14:30

Pipistrella I think the point is that Hanzee did not want to be Hanzee anymore.

Ed had no chance of surviving with Peggy around. He was trying to die in peace and quiet, but Peggy just wouldn't let him.

It would have so boring without Peggy though. Her main problem: could I spend my jail term in California? Did she really want to be locked up in Alcatraz?
