Mrsjayy I agree about DOD. When he did that licky lip thing I had a bit of sick in the back of my throat. So Very Wrong.

I did an actual snigger when DO'D did the comb bit in his dance. Ever since somebody mentioned that he wore a wig I have noticed that he never touches the hair on the top of his head, only at the side which I assume is real hair. In my imagination he combed the actual quiff (which is the bit that was continually combed in Grease) and it came right off. I would have added a bit of interest to the dance. Wink

Jay is beyond fabulous in that routine. No matter what dance training he has had, that level of performance comes from a natural ability. My God he made it look sooooo easy and fluid.
(I trained in Ballet for 10 years and know that if you don't have have "it" no amount of training can give you "it")

Will be interested to see his ballroom dances and am drooling with anticipation of the Argentine Tango......

I don't have a problem with any of them having danced before, it's just the "deception" - very few are up front about it. from early on. Helen George was up front about how she's done a fair amount of ballet

I got the impression that Jay was a complete newbie when he isn't and he seemed to being sold as the "nervous young man who's only done boy band type shuffling about". It's just disappointing.

Which isn't to say the jive wasn't fantastic and that I'm not looking forward to future weeks.

According to Wikipedia - so it must be true - Jay has been working on his dancing since June. It was a brilliant jive - chin on the floor amazing. I'm not bothered by previous dance experience, it's not like anyone is a ballroom champion.

Jay's walz I found breathtaking last week - brilliant expressive dancing.
His jive was too balletic for me.

Felt so sorry for Anton as he was not only an awful dancer but his choreography was hopeless too, and I am an Anton fan Shock. The judges showed distain for him too. At least he admitted his choreography was lacking. I think he has just been out of practice these last 10 years with his previous partners.

TillyButton · 11/10/2015 08:11

I agree,Anton is probably a bit shocked a being given such a good partner he needs to up his game!

DoD was more Fonze than Travolta.

TillyButton

Agree about both.

They do have choreographers behind the scene who help them, so Anton has no excuse.

I am so annoyed at Len and his bias plus prissy mood. No need to be so outright nasty to Giovanni.

Catching up this morning - I've had friends messaging me all night about Jay and Alionas dance and I still haven't seen it!

I liked Kellies star wars jive, it was fun. Jay is my favourite though. The change in music was different too. So cool.
PA is annoying , he soo wants to win, i bet he hates Jay being so good. Taped it ( saw the first half live ) so could skip Daniel,o d and Jamelia.
Len is turning into Victor Meldrew.

Her choreography was amazing, she deserves to be proud of that.

I don't even care if he has experience. And usually I do. Just goes to show if someone's likeable - you like them no matter what

SheHasAWildHeart · 11/10/2015 09:46

His dance training is listed on his SCD profile page on BBC website but doesn't tell you how long or what type of training. Tbh though there's having dance training and being able to dance well and then there's putting on a performance & Jay did that. There are others on the show and precious series who've had more dancing training but bored me whilst them.

Report
Mrsjayy · 11/10/2015 09:48

Yeah if you like them then it doesnt matter and tbf most of the actors or singers have been to stage/dance school as kids/teenagers anyway . And if every celeb was guff it would be boring to watch jeez even P A would have been taught to dance for performing

I have a Grade 5 violin certificate in the loft from when I was 13. I can't play a note or read music now.
I am not sure how much difference it makes.

Pixie lott was a good dancer she bored me rigid and caroline flack was smug i was raging she won

Exactly mrsjayy. I feel like that about Helen and Kellid this series, they both started off too good from episode one, where Jay has built up slightly from each episode. Georgia I also think is amazing but don't know her background.

DVO must have had lots of dance training. But she annoys me anyway. Grin
