Following on from thread one.

I normally lurk but Jay has brought me out of hiding. I'm another who knows nothing about dance but also rewound to watch Jay's dance again. I have never been a particular fan of Aliona but thought the choreography was fantastic. He has been my favourite since week one partly because he seems a very sweet and genuinely humble guy.
I don't mind Pete but his brand of humbleity seems calculated and inscincere in comparison not a word, I know, but couldn't think of another one

TheDrsDocMartens · 10/10/2015 21:20

I like the boxer, is he still having trouble with his arm(shoulder?)

AnyoneButAndre · 10/10/2015 21:20

Jill Halfpenny won Season 2. She was an Eastenders actress with a lot of previous dance experience and her Jive is frequently claimed to be the best dance in Strictly history.

The80sweregreat · 10/10/2015 21:21

Another rewound for Jay. He was stunning, those legs! He is sweet, but if people think he has an advantage they wont vote! :(

quinoaasmustard · 10/10/2015 21:22

Jay was amazing.

I don't normally like the ones with previous experience, but to be fair Georgia May Foote, Kellie Bright and Helen George have all trained in dance too and he knocked spots off them all.

AnyoneButAndre · 10/10/2015 21:23

Jill Halfpenny's Jive

AnyoneButAndre · 10/10/2015 21:26

There was something about the way Jay looked at Aliona as they danced, the confidence of a professional relationship of equals, that screamed "ringer" but was also really attractive.

areyoubeingserviced · 10/10/2015 21:26

I also watched Jay's dance again.
I thought it was fantastic and Aliona's choreography was great.
Jay has the likability factor , which will serve him well.

emotionsecho · 10/10/2015 21:27

I am speechless at how good Jay's dance was, just brilliant. Favourite two were Jay's and Anita's, disappointed with Katie, Ainsley's just made me smile.

quinoaasmustard · 10/10/2015 21:29

The thing about Jay's dance - technically it was incredible, but it was more than that - it was damnn cool...he's probably way too young to remember Pulp Fiction coming out, but he's caught that cool characterisation really well...If you compare the Pulp Fiction persona to his real character he just really acted it so, so well, that's partly what made it such an incredible performance.

leccybill · 10/10/2015 21:31

I absolutely loved Jay and Aliona tonight, had to re-watch it and admire it all over again. Definitely a defining moment on Strictly that.
I wonder if there's anything between them...

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 10/10/2015 21:35

She's married, so hopefully not. Although dancing is very strange for that...

I've lost count of how many times I've watched Jay and Aliona's dance - it was bloody awesome!

SecretLocker · 10/10/2015 21:39

Jay... wow wow wow!!!
Aliona's choreography was off the scale brilliant.
I just loved that. I can't stop smiling and re-watching Grin

IthoughtATMwasacashpoint · 10/10/2015 21:40

I think Jay and Aliona topped Jill Halfpenny's jive tonight. I liked Jill but never took to Darren, I couldn't really say why.

Jay looks quiet, shy, mainly stunned and dare I say it even a tiny bit boring until the music starts when he just lights up. He's very crisp and clean and the timing is amazing, but like all great dancers he looks totally relaxed and make it look quite easy.

onlywhenyouleave · 10/10/2015 21:41

I don't think I have ever watched a dance again straight away but I had to watch Jay and Aliona over and over again...speechless. I have never missed an episode of SCD and this truly was something special. So mad at Darcy for 'as it is week 3' shit - if a dance is worth a 10, bloody give it a 10!!

KurriKurri · 10/10/2015 21:41

I loved that - I don't care if he's danced before, I just love watching him and Aliona dance. (The fact that he looks a bit like my son helps Grin)

I would guess that each year they have to have a few who have some sort of experience anyway - otherwise they could potentially end up with a floor full of the rhythmically challenged.

I think anyone who has performance experience has an advantage anyway - and you can't rule out all the actors because of that.

I feel a bit sorry for Katie - I hope Anton gives her something next week that will show off her ability.

ThoseAwfulCurtains · 10/10/2015 21:47

Thanks Anyone. That was a fab jive too but I did prefer tonight's. I really like Aliona and there was a shedload of chemistry about that dance.

leccybill · 10/10/2015 21:55

It was just so much fun, and the change in the middle, and the little Pulp Fiction affectations - all credit to Aliona for that and couldn't take my eyes off Jay's steps, just incredible. Have watched it back a few times. Truly a special Strictly moment that, hard to top it.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 10/10/2015 21:58

I think Daniel O'Ds and Jays dances should be viewed back to back. Old celeb does a young Travolta and misses the character completely, and a young celeb does an old Travolta and hits it spot on.

areyoubeingserviced · 10/10/2015 22:07

I love Strictly.

millimat · 10/10/2015 22:15

Didn't expect jay to be my favourite but he certainly is so far.

Mrsjayy · 10/10/2015 22:15

Yeah jay was super cool. D o d should be sent to hell he really is creepy when he was trying to be sexy urgh urgh

Erimemushinteperem · 10/10/2015 22:19

The Jive has always been one of my least favourite dances. Until now. Jay was amazing!
I feel sorry for Katie with Anton. She can't win with him. Anton doing Latin is awful. He needs a Choreographer to help him.

SpinachJelly · 10/10/2015 22:21

That's the most I've enjoyed watching Strictly - Jay and Aliona that is - since Mark and Karen back in 2006. Brilliant.
