Following on from thread one.

OP posts:

I think it's a shame that Anthony entered this year. There was absolutely no way he was going to get anywhere with that bad shoulder - there's only so long that the judges could comment on him every week without mentioning that half the dance (bit of exaggeration there but YKWIM) was missing because he was injured. He seemed very likeable and came across really well - would have been great to see what he and Oti could do if he was fully fit.

Peter Andre reminds me of Jason Donovan with his droning on, over-sincere class-creep type of persona.

Jeremy Vine is weirdly enjoyable to watch - think it's because he's enjoying it so much - makes me smile.

Laughed at Claudia's comment about the irony of Jay having his hair cut the week before he was required to have a pony tail. Loved Jay and Aliona's jive.

Darcy still irritates me - the posturing and posing in the judges' dance (really ... do they REALLY have to do that ... ) and although I think it is nice that she goes out of her way to find something positive and encouraging to say to the contestants, other than that I don't really rate her comments or her scoring. It'd be great if she could be replaced by Karen whatshername, who's not my favourite but at least you know she knows her stuff when it comes to the SCD dances.

Tensmumym · 12/10/2015 14:25

You are so right about the Peter Andre/Jason Donovan comparison! I agree it's a shame that Anthony wasn't fully fit as you could see he had potential even with the injury and he was very likeable. And Karen would be a much better judge but I'd miss seeing her on ITT.

Secondtimeround75 · 12/10/2015 14:30

Agree 100%

I bet he thought he would be the best of the men. I love Jay for bring better Grin

ppeatfruit · 12/10/2015 14:52

But Jason Donovan has his looks going for him; PA not so much! I loved the bit where Darcey (who I [heart] btw why shouldn't she do a bit of dancing\posing? She's an ex ballerina ffs).

Was it her and Tess who were havng a laugh over PA's neck diisappearing, he didn't make a good pirate IMO.

Snowstorm · 12/10/2015 15:05

I'll give you that Darcey is an ex-ballerina ffs but 'Jason Donovan has his looks going for him' ... really?! Confused ... Wink

Tensmumym · 12/10/2015 15:11

ppeatfruit I think you're remembering him from his Neighbours days Smile.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 12/10/2015 15:15

I had a revelation last night about Giovanni. When they did the launch show and everyone was lusting after Gleb I though it was a bit unfair on Giovanni. "This is Gleb, he's totally hot and gorgeous and I can't take my eyes off him. Giovanni is new too." (I'm paraphrasing.) But now that he's had time to annoy me with his cockiness and pulling silly faces and thinking that he's wonderful, I think that they did that into to knock him down a peg. After all the professionals have been preparing for quite a while before the season begins so he's probably had plenty of time to irritate all the production team.

I may be a little prejudiced against him as he strongly reminds me of a Roman that I used to work with. He was also a firm believer in his own good looks and was always a bit amazed that the women on the team wouldn't just drop everything to do his work for him in return for one of his smiles. Hmm The smile may have worked wonders in Rome, but in cynical London we preferred men who smiled and also made their deadlines.

MagicalRealist · 12/10/2015 15:27

Aww I think Giovanni is completely adorable! And the cockiness seems to be quite tongue in cheek.

SheHasAWildHeart · 12/10/2015 15:43

And the cockiness seems to be quite tongue in cheek.
I haven't seen any :/ But maybe coz I skip the VTs.

ppeatfruit · 12/10/2015 15:49

Oh! and I didn't see JD on Strictly, it's true, has he not aged well then Tensmumym and Snowstorm ? Grin

digerd · 12/10/2015 16:24

having trouble with pc playing up.
The celeb woman who danced in a white floaty dress last Saturday is not a polished well trained dancer. Was she with Gleb?

ppeatfruit · 12/10/2015 16:28

Was it Anita ? Digerd She's been very good I don't reckon she was happy with that dance.

digerd · 12/10/2015 17:01

ppeatfruit

I noticed she had spatula hands and her arm movements had no sweep/feeling. She is very slender and petite.

Don't know many of the Celebs on the show.

Just looked at my Tesco home delivery orders as had a feeling had heard of Ainsley. And lo and behold there was my fave cup a soup -Thai Chicken and Lemon Grass - very tasty. Grin His dance did make me smile as he is obviously no natural ballroom dancer but gave it all he had.

.

CaveMum · 12/10/2015 17:06

Anita has been good but I thought her posture was off quite a few times on Saturday. At some points she looked like she was looking at the ceiling, her head was so exaggerated! I'll bet Gleb told her to "lean back" and that's literally what she has done.

Unfortunately there's not enough time to go into the minutiae of each dance, but it always helps to try and explain how a particular line/posture is achieved rather than force it and make it look unnatural.

areyoubeingserviced · 12/10/2015 17:31

I don't think that anyone is saying that a BME cannot do very well in the competition.
However, I do feel that they have to be much better than the non white celebrities in order to progress.
Mumsnet is a forum whereby people can express their views, even if it makes others feel slightly uncomfortable

The80sweregreat · 12/10/2015 17:32

She, i hope he wins as he is really good, but the public are fickle!
I have heard of the group he is in, but thats it. He is sweet.
I hope he does well and beats PA at least, that would make my day.

Snowstorm · 12/10/2015 17:32

ppeatfruit ... here you go ... Jason Donovan on SCD - Googled Especially For You: www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/jason-donovan-first-voted-off-strictly-281979 Grin

AnyoneButAndre · 12/10/2015 17:48

Just for the old Donofan up thread, here's his highly memorable Tango.

You need to bear in mind that Jason had just come off a lengthy West End run in Priscilla Queen of the Desert before starting on Strictly.

GrouchyKiwi · 12/10/2015 19:03

I think Giovanni is quiet and unassuming on ITT (apart from that one time with Zoe...)

I've decided I like him, and he's pretty.

honeyroar · 12/10/2015 20:03

I just met Bruno last night. What a lovely man.

ppeatfruit · 12/10/2015 21:23

Thanks Snowstorm and Anyone he's not that bad at all (strange goldfish mouth thing though Grin I wonder who told him that was a good idea Grin) He's better looking than P.A. IMO!

theliverpoolone · 12/10/2015 21:24

at the moment the only ones that look likely to win are the ones with previous training ie Jay, Helen, Kellie.
Unfortunately for Kellie, I really hope she doesn't, as I don't think I could bear Kevin winning. He's far too full of himself already.

firefly78 · 12/10/2015 21:27

oh i really like Kevin!!!

ppeatfruit · 12/10/2015 21:27

Yup Grouchy Giovanni's pretty alright I like his eyes, but he forgot his partners' name on IT2 tonight and lets face it he does rather LOVE himself Grin.

And it's a wonder that Zo can look him in the face, he harrassed her fgs Shock

ThursdayLastWeek · 12/10/2015 21:33

I thought that sheepish thing was a bit pit on this evening to be honest re; Giovanni. There also doesn't seem to be much chemistry between them. I I didn't think there was with Anthony and Oti either.

I remember really enjoying that JD tango, will have to watch again. I love the Priscilla film though.

Also not a Kevin fan.
