ITV’s six episode thriller series Unforgotten from former ITV drama executives Laura Mackie and Sally Haynes’ fledgling indie Mainstreet Pictures will premiere on Thursday October 8th at 9pm, it has been announced.

Penned by Undeniable scribe Chris Lang, Unforgotten tells the story of an 39 year old cold investigation into the murder of a boy who was killed in 1976. The modern day investigation is run by DCI Cassie Stuart and DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan, who must re-examine the evidence and investigate the key suspects – Robert Greaves, Frank Philip Cross, Lizzie Wilton and Eric Slater – in order to close the case. The series utilises a multi-stranded narrative, set in different parts of the country, which explores and connects each of the principle characters.

The six-parter is produced by Mainstreet Pictures and features a large cast that includes Sanjeev Bhaskar (The Kumars), Nicola Walker (Last Tango In Halifax), Trevor Eve (Waking The Dead), Bernard Hill (The Grid), Ruth Sheen (Our Girl), Tom Courtenay (The Dresser), Gemma Jones (Marvellous), Brian Bovell (Death in Paradise), Cherie Lunghi (Casualty), Hannah Gordon (Hustle), Claire Goose (Mount Pleasant) Tamzin Malleson (Midsomer Murders), Peter Egan (Downton Abbey), and Frances Tomelty (Catastrophe). Ripper Street helmer Andy Wilson was the director.

Oh of course I'd forgotten about them!

ateacupofgin · 05/11/2015 21:43

Missed the wallet - whose is that?
And who has father rob given the money to? Jojo.... Eric....?

987flowers · 05/11/2015 21:44

Wallet from body number 2 I guess.

Not sure about the money, I think maybe Jojo

ateacupofgin · 05/11/2015 21:48

Ah, I see

But bloody hell - that's a bank card!!

Floundering · 05/11/2015 21:51

Poor Nicholas too.....how did he get involved I wonder, with the Arlingham House crowd?

mollyonthemove · 05/11/2015 21:53

Bit behind here. What has Philip got the turk to do to whom?

Floundering · 05/11/2015 21:56

Sir Philip wanted the Turk to warn off Gordon Fenwick, but then panicked & tried to recall him once he knew Slater was in the frame.

He then discovered Gordon had died having"fallen asleep smoking a cigarette" ....convenient.

Floundering · 05/11/2015 21:57

Got him!!!

quirkychick · 05/11/2015 22:00

But what about the others, how are they involved and why did they all lie?

Floundering · 05/11/2015 22:01

Oh.

My.

God!!!!!!!!!!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/11/2015 22:02

did lizzie jump as she killed someone

cant wait till next thur :)

quirkychick · 05/11/2015 22:05

Was the money for Jo-jo or was Father Rob paying off Eric as blackmail money? We know he was phoning her but was that just because of the investigation into Jimmy's murder?

Lizzie, oh no.

Sweetsweetjane · 05/11/2015 22:05

Aaarrrgh!! What's with all these blinkin cliffhangers? I'm part of the Netflix generation, I want it all and I want it now. Or maybe it's Verruca Salt generation.

Anyway, I digress, who is Nicholas? Easily distracted, sorry.

And I was ten minutes late to the party, what did I miss at the beginning and why was surallan crying? Maybe I should do itv2...

Floundering · 05/11/2015 22:14

I think Lizzie jumped because she knew about all the nasty goings on.

I think Fr Rob turned a blind eye to far too much & is a lecherous thieving git but did stick by Jo-Jo

I think Frankie/Philip & Eric were in cahoots & now Eric is going to sing like a canary to try & wriggle out of it.

Nicholas was the second body & a gay guy who may or may not have been killed by the homophobic Eric who had taken cash out close to Nicholas' last known sighting.

thenightsky · 05/11/2015 22:15

Nicholas is the second body... the one with the bank card in his wallet

ENtertainmentAppreciated · 05/11/2015 22:19

And Jimmy had been working on and off as a rent boy, so had presumably hooked up with Nicholas at the pub?

Floundering · 05/11/2015 22:26

Ah possibly EN -good point.

Sweetsweetjane · 05/11/2015 22:39

Thank you so much floundering and nightsky.

And in true Columba style, just one more question, how did the coppers find out Jimmy had been a rent boy?
So sad, even though it's fiction, so many young people even nowadays have done this just to live.
So sad about Lizzie too if she did jump.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/11/2015 22:44

was the fire delib what killed? the cig one .......

Sweetsweetjane · 05/11/2015 22:48

I meant Columbo... But hey, maybe Columba is the feminine form of Colombo . We should have a Columba thread for women solvers of fictional crime.

987flowers · 05/11/2015 22:58

I think jimmy's friend Mac told the officer he was meeting that afternoon. Is next week the last one?

ButterflyUpSoHigh · 05/11/2015 23:01

Mackie told them he was a rent boy.

Yes the fire at Gordon Fenwick's was deliberate.

Fantastic episode Smile

Floundering · 05/11/2015 23:16

Blondes Well Frankie's sons Turkish friend was sent over to sort out Gordon Fenwick.

Who then mysteriously died in a house fire having fallen asleep while smoking......there are coincidences and there are bloody suspicious events!! Grin

Jane I like it ....the Columba gang. Wink

cherrytree63 · 05/11/2015 23:18

Going out on a limb here, but I'm wondering if Eric wasn't homophobic, but a closet gay, had a relationship of some sort with Nicholas and/or Jimmy, was discovered by Mrs Slater, and it was she who killed Nicholas. Eric covered up for her by burying the body which is what his wife recalls.

MorrisZapp · 05/11/2015 23:22

Bloody good episode.

Hannah Gordon should be in everything, ever.
