ITV’s six episode thriller series Unforgotten from former ITV drama executives Laura Mackie and Sally Haynes’ fledgling indie Mainstreet Pictures will premiere on Thursday October 8th at 9pm, it has been announced.

Penned by Undeniable scribe Chris Lang, Unforgotten tells the story of an 39 year old cold investigation into the murder of a boy who was killed in 1976. The modern day investigation is run by DCI Cassie Stuart and DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan, who must re-examine the evidence and investigate the key suspects – Robert Greaves, Frank Philip Cross, Lizzie Wilton and Eric Slater – in order to close the case. The series utilises a multi-stranded narrative, set in different parts of the country, which explores and connects each of the principle characters.

The six-parter is produced by Mainstreet Pictures and features a large cast that includes Sanjeev Bhaskar (The Kumars), Nicola Walker (Last Tango In Halifax), Trevor Eve (Waking The Dead), Bernard Hill (The Grid), Ruth Sheen (Our Girl), Tom Courtenay (The Dresser), Gemma Jones (Marvellous), Brian Bovell (Death in Paradise), Cherie Lunghi (Casualty), Hannah Gordon (Hustle), Claire Goose (Mount Pleasant) Tamzin Malleson (Midsomer Murders), Peter Egan (Downton Abbey), and Frances Tomelty (Catastrophe). Ripper Street helmer Andy Wilson was the director.

Sansoora maybe Sir Philip was talking about Thomas Pinion who told the police about the boltcutters. He is under suspicion about paying him off already.

His daughter is obviously tempted. She made it clear he should be punished if guilty. Sir Philip is obviously guilty of quite a lot, even if not Jimmy's murder.

ENtertainmentAppreciated · 31/10/2015 21:05

I'm wondering what Josh Cross has been up to in his working life? he's clearly the polar opposite from his sister. Sir Philip referred to 'your Turkish friends' when asking for his son's help to make the problem go away.

The football supporting and gay violence aspects must be developed more surely or why involve them?
Jimmy, a Liverpool fan. Fr Robert, QPR and was it the dead gay man who was supposedly an Arsenal fan? Was the dead man's name Wilton?
I made a note of 'I'm a Blade, he was a Gooner' followed by something about impetuous youth and drink, that must've been Eric Slater. The Blades are Sheffield United. Those are quite a few football references.

Two things I'm thinking about.

Father Robert's wife, Grace, referred to him taking Mass.
But Mass is only RC isn't it? so how is he married?

The other thing is when Curtis saw a photograph of Jimmy in a newspaper clip, he looked really shocked. Recognition?

Yes! And I was going to mention it but Im not quite getting the hang of things so I decided to keep quiet.

Re Mass - The Anglican Church also celebrates Mass.

Quirky - thank you, yes, perhaps Thomas Pinion.

ButterflyUpSoHigh · 31/10/2015 21:24

Paul Brian West was the victim that Eric assaulted.

ENtertainmentAppreciated · 31/10/2015 21:51

Oh, thanks Butterfly, so who is Wilton? where did I get that name from? (I wrote it down)

I was raised C of E, but haven't encountered Mass in the Anglican church. Is it High Church? I've left the church behind since I grew up so am out of touch anyway. Thanks Sansoora.

ButterflyUpSoHigh · 31/10/2015 22:01

Wilton is the surname of Beth Laws now Lizzie/Elizabeth Wilton.

ihatethecold · 31/10/2015 22:05

On another note, I don't think it's Raquel that plays the secretary. Looks nothing like her.
unless I'm thinking of the wrong Raquel

ButterflyUpSoHigh · 31/10/2015 22:11

It's Raquel from Only Fools and Horses was married to Del Boy.

Are you thinking of Raquel from Corrie? Sarah Lancashire.

ENtertainmentAppreciated · 31/10/2015 22:55

At first I mixed up the Only Fools and Horses Raquel character with Cassandra, but yes, Sarah Lancashire's Corrie character was also Raquel.

Thanks Butterfly, I have a huge amount of scribbled notes on the back of an envelope and they're in tiny writing. I'd had a brain freeze over Lizzie's various names.

The notes went
Why Curtis shocked at Jimmy pic in paper?
Ouch! violence. Wilton-Curtis
Liz charged, theft

Then about the brick through Liz's window, Curtis smoking and throwing his books away only to pick the pages up in the rain.

Later I have notes about the wedding anniversary party.
Eric says to Claire 'come on dopey' nice Confused
At one point she asks 'why are we celebrating?'
As their friends sing she leaves also in the rain and she says
"I didn't want to give it up"
I also wrote
he wouldn't be able to hurt anyone again and
no idea what's real.

I really need to watch all the episodes again.

GruntledOne · 01/11/2015 01:24

The further victim could be another skeleton - it would explain why they knew instantly that it was connected. After all, the Fenwicks must have left quite a trail of bodies in their wake.

quirkychick · 01/11/2015 08:37

There is also Lizzie and Ray running their charity (?) football team. In the 70s there was much more football violence and "hooliganism", surely?

If the other victim is another skeleton then we might find some new clues. "Victim" was definitely vague. Was there another skeleton found close to Jimmy's?

GruntledOne I can't imagine people who used bolt cutters or drove nails into people's hands would stop at murder! We know Eric Slater "hurt people", presumably not just his wife and he's not yet been linked with Sir Philip but a new victim will mean new evidence, surely.

Callmesausage · 01/11/2015 10:10

Thanks Cherry, that's her!

ScottishDiblet · 02/11/2015 17:42

Sorry if someone else has already said this but I'm sure there's going to be a really emotional reunion with jimmy's mother and the baby he had with jojo. I think that's going to be one nice silver lining to this. I also thought the reason Lizzie's husband was shocked at the photo of Jimmy was that he (probably) looked a bit like their son - I.e. Mixed race. I mean that in a totally non-offensive way, iyswim.

fuzzpig · 02/11/2015 19:06

I thought the football references from Eric was just a lie to cover up why he attacked him but actually you're right there are lots of references to football.

Also agree that would be a good twist if Jo-Jo does have Jimmy's child, his mum will have a grandchild after feeling 'pointless' for all this time. But then it would make less sense that Fr Rob is still in touch with her, as it would not have been his baby.

Hurry up Thursday! I have the evening to myself and nothing to watch Hmm

quirkychick · 02/11/2015 21:57

Lizzie also said she wished she could forget Jimmy, but didn't she say she remembered him everyday? Because of teaching her to read? Because he died and she is implicated? Because of her son, who also died?

I'm a bit confused at Cassie and Sunny saying they believed Eric, but they know that Eric attacked a man outside a gay pub.

Floundering · 02/11/2015 23:14

Quirky I think they meant they believed Eric about being sure Jimmy wasn't gay. he was quite clear on that point where he had been vague about other things.

I suspect Eric was just drunk that day outside the gay bar after the footie & went in spoiling for a fight, being a violent sort & probably got chatted up & used it as an excuse to pound poor wotsit to a pulp.

Remember his sister said if a passing policeman handn't intervened her brother would have died.

quirkychick · 03/11/2015 08:39

Thanks Floundering that makes sense, as Eric is very shady and his story has lots of holes. How many others has he hurt or killed?

Slater knew about Jo-jo and Fr Rob, maybe he was blackmailing him all those years.

I also wonder if Jimmy went to Slater (as the hostel bookkeeper) to ask for money after his had been stolen and Slater wanted something in return (am thinking about the gay bar assault) and it all went wrong.

Trevor Eve does a wonderful menacing look.

Blimey, it's so early that I've only just realised today is Thursday and I haven't watch yesterday's yet Grin I

Fiderer · 05/11/2015 06:02
