ITV’s six episode thriller series Unforgotten from former ITV drama executives Laura Mackie and Sally Haynes’ fledgling indie Mainstreet Pictures will premiere on Thursday October 8th at 9pm, it has been announced.

Penned by Undeniable scribe Chris Lang, Unforgotten tells the story of an 39 year old cold investigation into the murder of a boy who was killed in 1976. The modern day investigation is run by DCI Cassie Stuart and DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan, who must re-examine the evidence and investigate the key suspects – Robert Greaves, Frank Philip Cross, Lizzie Wilton and Eric Slater – in order to close the case. The series utilises a multi-stranded narrative, set in different parts of the country, which explores and connects each of the principle characters.

The six-parter is produced by Mainstreet Pictures and features a large cast that includes Sanjeev Bhaskar (The Kumars), Nicola Walker (Last Tango In Halifax), Trevor Eve (Waking The Dead), Bernard Hill (The Grid), Ruth Sheen (Our Girl), Tom Courtenay (The Dresser), Gemma Jones (Marvellous), Brian Bovell (Death in Paradise), Cherie Lunghi (Casualty), Hannah Gordon (Hustle), Claire Goose (Mount Pleasant) Tamzin Malleson (Midsomer Murders), Peter Egan (Downton Abbey), and Frances Tomelty (Catastrophe). Ripper Street helmer Andy Wilson was the director.

I think the solicitor (Zoe Telford) is his daughter, imdb has her as Bella Cross.

sadwidow28 · 22/10/2015 21:20

Hmm quirkychick

There is no telephone number for Jo-Jo who gave the diary to Jimmy.

You may be onto a clue there!

Oh god Im scared for the school boy. Is it Curtis?

quirkychick · 22/10/2015 21:26

Frankie C was a nasty man...

£50 again.

quirkychick · 22/10/2015 21:31

Poor Lizzie.

Poor Maureen. It's going to be emotional when she visits the site of the hostel!

I wonder what was in those letters that Cassie's dad left her.

I love the meticulous piecing together of all the pieces. It kind of reminds me of the first Prime Suspect, pulling in all the evidence to make a good story.

Elendon · 22/10/2015 21:32

Who is playing Lizzie's husband?

Sansoora · 22/10/2015 21:33

You're amazing me with what your thoughts on this. Even when I read a book I just read it to the end and if a clue becomes apparent before the plot has unfolded then its a bonus. But the ending is what its about. So whilst Im more interested in whats going to happen to Curtis than anyone else - Im happy to wait and see how this all pans out.

Elendon · 22/10/2015 21:34

Ah I'm thinking Jo Jo is going to be the key (no pun intended).

So looking forward to this interview!

sadwidow28 · 22/10/2015 21:34

There we go - the clues from the open credits!

Bolt-cutters were used by Frankie C

He cut off digits!

Who asked for the opening credits to be analysed? Those bolt cutters were significant!

Father Robert was obviously very naughty.

The mother with dementia: put it on a boil wash but should have put in a cold soak first... to get out blood?

sadwidow28 · 22/10/2015 21:40

Lizzie 'egged' Erskine on.

Father Greaves had 'relations' with girls

Sir Phillip coming unstuck - a newspaper has got hold of the story. Liam is trying to drop him from czar entrepreneur role (and actually, Liam is angry that he got punched on the nose last week!)

I have forgotten what Eric Slater did.

OP posts:
Sansoora · 22/10/2015 21:40

yep, blood.

sadwidow28 · 22/10/2015 21:41

Oh.... Cassie wants names of residents from the 1979s

We have got them on a newspaper item! Shall we phone in now?

OP posts:
quirkychick · 22/10/2015 21:42

Yes, phone now sadwidow Grin.

quirkychick · 22/10/2015 21:44

Eric Slater didn't know anyone, sometimes had a smoke with Jimmy and caught Father Robert having sex with Jo-jo. But she gave the diary to Jimmy? Was she coerced by the Father?

Elendon · 22/10/2015 21:45

Oh blood in a cold wash, pre biological washing liquid.

quirkychick · 22/10/2015 21:47

That's what I thought. And nights he didn't come home, she said too.

Elendon · 22/10/2015 21:49

No, Eric Slater killed Jimmy because he was having sex with his precious (only met her once) Jo Jo, knew her age though didn't he?

And he is is framing Greaves because he hasn't done his penance yet!

sadwidow28 · 22/10/2015 21:51

Ooops! 1979s = 1970s

I have posted a newspaper screen shot with extra names underneath. I'll find it again later.

OP posts:
quirkychick · 22/10/2015 21:54

Ooh, Elendon you could be right!

sadwidow28 · 22/10/2015 21:55

Nooooo... it has to be the smug Sir Phillip!

Mind you, I have no affinity for either Greaves or Slater, but am somehow forgiving Beth/Lizzie.

Just lurking on this thread and finding theories and analysis very entertaining!

My own contribution is that the girl playing Trevor Eve's daughter ALWAYS has her fecking hands in her pockets. She did the same as a police officer in Silent Witness and I found her in a really old Lewis episode doing the same. I think it's her "thing" to look nonchalant. Grates on me every time I see her.

sadwidow28 · 22/10/2015 21:58

Oh - there's a twist! Sir Phillips daughter (barrister) challenges her dad about having cut off bits of people's body.

Now Josh is back in the mix "Whatever you need Dad, I am here to help"

Josh was kicked into touch last week! Pfft!
