ITV’s six episode thriller series Unforgotten from former ITV drama executives Laura Mackie and Sally Haynes’ fledgling indie Mainstreet Pictures will premiere on Thursday October 8th at 9pm, it has been announced.

Penned by Undeniable scribe Chris Lang, Unforgotten tells the story of an 39 year old cold investigation into the murder of a boy who was killed in 1976. The modern day investigation is run by DCI Cassie Stuart and DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan, who must re-examine the evidence and investigate the key suspects – Robert Greaves, Frank Philip Cross, Lizzie Wilton and Eric Slater – in order to close the case. The series utilises a multi-stranded narrative, set in different parts of the country, which explores and connects each of the principle characters.

The six-parter is produced by Mainstreet Pictures and features a large cast that includes Sanjeev Bhaskar (The Kumars), Nicola Walker (Last Tango In Halifax), Trevor Eve (Waking The Dead), Bernard Hill (The Grid), Ruth Sheen (Our Girl), Tom Courtenay (The Dresser), Gemma Jones (Marvellous), Brian Bovell (Death in Paradise), Cherie Lunghi (Casualty), Hannah Gordon (Hustle), Claire Goose (Mount Pleasant) Tamzin Malleson (Midsomer Murders), Peter Egan (Downton Abbey), and Frances Tomelty (Catastrophe). Ripper Street helmer Andy Wilson was the director.

Oohhhh this is fab!

sadwidow28 · 22/10/2015 02:43

fizzpig it is the screen writer Michael Crompton I chat to on Twitter. We have had some great chats about Safe House. I told him that I was really confused by the final episode and he said, "That was intentional - it opens the door for series 2".

And lo and behold, it looks like we might get a 2nd series of Safe House!

Safe House could be returning for 2nd series

I'll tweet him and tell him about the mumsnetters when series 2 starts. (I assume all of us on this thread will enjoy Safe House as well.)

Now I am taking the dog out for the day tomorrow (to a beach) so I might be tired tomorrow evening. He's 16+ yrs old and can't jump in the car now so I have a friend coming over to help me to lift him in his travel cage and put him in the back of his car. (The dog weighs 35kg and he won't let me lift him up in the usual front-back fashion so I'll walk him into his travel cage and lift him and it into the car. The DDog loves the beach and I want to take him one more time!)

If I am still sleeping on the sofa after the dog's day out, can you set off a fire alarm or something to wake me up for 9pm? Grin

Here you go Elendon - Jimmy's photo sent to his Mam (Maureen) with the letter that says "I've just bought myself a car"

And I was looking for photos of the Morton Spyder to compare and guess what?

I found someone who transcribes the entire episodes!

Unforgotten, Episode 1 - transcription

And I thought I had a sad life and spent too much time on this thread!

Now I have found the episode 2 transcript (and it even has the transcription of the recap from episode 1 before episode 2 starts). This is seriously freaky!

Thanks for this thread sadwidow, it really adds to the enjoyment! I rewatched episode 1 last night, thanks to your link as I dozed off a few times when it was live. Then when I tried to watch it on catch up I forgot what it was called and watched River and thoroughly confused myself Blush.
I first saw Nicola Walker in Luther (totally irrelevant fact Smile).
I'm going to rewatch the very beginning of e1 to check something...the opening scene shows the exterior of Nicola's (bad memory, can't remember her screen name now) home. Which appears to be maisonettes. But inside it's definitely a house! But it's quite possible I imagined it Blush.
I too am a widowed dog lover!

cherrytree63 · 22/10/2015 07:20

Adding some more irrelevance...
Trevor Eve and Claire Goose were in Waking the Dead, also about cold cases.
I had a girl crush on Hannah Gordon (and I quite fancied John Alderton) when they were in My Wife Next Door. A long time ago....
And is the Wilton fella played by the same actor that was in Gimme Gimme Gimme with Kathy Burke?

cherrytree63 · 22/10/2015 07:25

Good old Wikipedia...yes it was Brian Bovell in GGG.

fuzzpig · 22/10/2015 08:23

Ohhh thank you sad I didn't realise it was a drama rather than a book. Looks interesting! :)

fuzzpig · 22/10/2015 08:26

Ah, I knew I recognised him from somewhere, thanks! Good old Jez.

cherrytree63 · 22/10/2015 10:59

Not maisonettes btw.

sadwidow28 · 22/10/2015 20:44

I have just woken up folks and reporting for duty! Kettle is on for a coffee. Brew

It was windy on the beach and I think I got a free sand face-lift! The tide was out so the DDog wandered all over and played 'catch-me-if-you-can'. A great day was had by all.

Welcome to new thread members - particularly cherrytree63 who is walking the same path as me.

Are we ready for tonight's clues?

There is a thread in Mumsnet Telly Addicts that fuzzpig runs on "River".

Cassie: How do you think that someone lives through life having murdered someone?

OP posts:
RJnomaaaaaargh · 22/10/2015 21:07

I missed last weeks will I be confused now?

sadwidow28 · 22/10/2015 21:09

Lizzie: "Sometimes I watched my boyfriend attack people"

(I DON'T think Lizzie is the murderer of Jimmy - but maybe she witnessed it)

Ooh, we're going to hear from the priest. Interesting.

Lots of unfolding today, I think.

The priest is lying, I'm sure.

quirkychick · 22/10/2015 21:12

Cassie: Be nice if one of the bastards wasn't lying through there teeth.

Here, here.

sadwidow28 · 22/10/2015 21:12

Father Rob:

I knew him - but not well. he came to services a few times but more to tell his mother I suspect.

Asking about Vincent Eskine/Beth Laws/ Frankie or Frankie Cross/ Jo-Jo

All denied

When faced with the name Jo-Jo, Father Rob says "Who was she?" The police haven't said whether it was a she or a he.

Lizzie is fighting for her marriage. I really hope she isn't the murderer!

I dislike Sir Phillip with a passion!

Solicitor to Sir P: Do nothing; say nothing. Let them proved you lied.

OP posts:
quirkychick · 22/10/2015 21:17

I know, Lizzie is coming across quite sympathetically. Both she and Jimmy were obviously troubled kids. Was she possibly the girlfriend and that got him killed?

Father Rob's flashback has Jimmy quite violent, he certainly came from a violent home.

cherrytree63 · 22/10/2015 21:18

I feel a bit sorry for Lizzie...
