I googled eastenders spoilers and Chrissie watts was first character picture to pop up yesterday so I wondered if she was being bought back too (the rest were current characters until I scrolled along a fair way)

I also wonder when/ if alice will be bought back from prison

I have a feeling that the transgender character will be someone who was EE as a youngster. Maybe Michelle's child? Or someone else but I can't pinpoint who. Some one with connection to the show so everyone can see the reaction? Maybe Zsa Zsa?

How old were Louise & Courtney compared to Ben? Would either of them be early 20s now? Probably had enough of the Mitchell storylines for a while once Phil stops being kidnapped. They seem to have been in it a lot recently! Plus, we still have Phil coming to terms with Ben really, actually being gay & the whole Abi thing to come too, it would be a bit much to introduce yet another story for them right now.

It's not really a spoiler tbh, it's what was in the magazine and it doesn't give away what Donna actually discovers, given the amount of speculation on here, that usually ends up being correct, it would be feasible to think it is Les cross dresser. And the way I understood it, that is how people do spoilers (but this wasn't one).

Could be dominatrix. Claudette certainly has that way about her. Could fit in with the 10 minutes thing too, cross dressing doesn't really fit in with that.

Zsa Zsa as the transgender character sounds likely - Tina hasn't had a story for months now. Maybe Stacey knew her from school or something...London is a very small place according to the E.E writers Wink

Chelsea is a lot older than 21 anyway. I don't think it will be Zsa Zsa. She never showed any hint of being unhappy in her body and it would be insensitive to portray a transgender character who hasn't struggled the way many do in reality.

There was a picture of new character, Kyle, on line and he didn't look familiar at all. Another forum said he is something to do with Stacey and her key too. I am sure he will be swamped in misery a few weeks after living there and loads of other relatives will appear to give him grief, what usually happens with a newbie. I still think he will have links to Claudette/ Vincent too. They all lived on the square, but must have been in the 70s or early 80s as its been going since 1985 and nobody has ever mentioned them before now!

That's the trouble with a programme that's 30 years old and they want to introduce a brand new 21(ish) year old character with 'history' - it strains credulity. And if they minimise or make a caricature out of the character's backstory narrative, then as peacelove says it could end up being really insensitive.

The whole Kathy storyline would have worked better without the gangster element, that Gavin was just a nasty, controlling man that wanted her all to himself and had messed her up psychologically. A male version of Stella. And instead of Kathy coming back it could have been his final act of cruelty taking her to her sons to confront what she'd done and deal with the aftermath. And for Kathy to be like "no, no, I can't see them after what I've done." Kathy, Ben and Ian all in one room over an hour long episode. Would have been wow! Maybe bits with Jane, Dot and Sharon.
Instead we had Babe and Jason (ugh!) and lots of other nonsense. And Ian being so blasé driving his mum to the police station.

liney, agree, nobody ever mention Claudette or Vincent before this year - or Donna come to that. did they all move away then decide to move back ( as Walford is such a great place to live, safe from murderers, rapists and adulterers?) Phil Mitchell said to Vincent when he first appeared - ' I remember you as a little kid coming to see my mum with a snotty nose and attitude' - something along those lines anyway. maybe they lived in the high rise where Kathy and Peter Beale used to live for a while in 1985/6 that seems have been knocked down,- disappeared over the years. It is just silly trying to make stuff up from the characters in 85 were well drawn up already and evolved since then. It nice to see mixed race people on the square actually, but its not explained where they lived before! ( I liked Eva, Cora's long lost daughter, but they made little of her character , when there was so much potential there, a head mistress, well educated etc, she seemed a strong feisty woman too!) oh well, have to see what they do with poor Kyle!

Completely feasible :)

The thing is with all TV, especially soaps, although we might feel like we know these people and their "lives" we are still only seeing a tiny fraction of their days. So it is entirely possible that lots else is going on off screen that we don't know about for many different reasons.

Hence anything is possible - it could all be going on in their lives, just not represented on screen.

yep, sometimes they do things that are odd - when Charlie cotton mentioned Matthew's passport , that needs a lot of work to complete and get signed off and he is only 10 months old too. other times they just don't mention people that are suddenly very important, or they just get forgotten about ( like Charlie, nobody has asked where he is for the last few weeks have they?) in such a small area, someone would notice their absence, its not as if he goes out to work. Soaps, they run on their own rules and regs and thought processes that just do not happen in the real world.

Soap babies are the easiest kids in the world to raise. You just occasionally push them round in a pram, and then they're just always 'upstairs in bed' for five years. Then they move with you when your character starts a new life in Milton Keynes or some other exotic far off land that it's impossible to visit.

Trouble is, a few years later they sometimes completely change faces and return as teenagers with explosive storylines.

They might have explosive storylines but it's a dull place for a teenager to grow up! I know that Jay has a tag on, but it was his 21st and he was spending it at the Albert and the Vic :/
