Is the character going to be transgender, or just the actor? If he's living as a man, wouldn't he want to play male roles? I'm thinking about Hayley in Coronation Street who was a female actress playing a MTF transsexual.

Yes, it's been billed as the first transgender actor playing a transgender character. I'm quite looking forward to it & seeing how the other characters react when they discover that he wasn't born male. Dot's reaction will probably be a stereotype of the older-generation's attitude & include the words "them sorts" or something. My guess is that he'll be one of Claudette's foster children & will have been known on the square as a woman/girl & magically everyone will remember Vincent's other foster sister so we'll see everyone's reaction & adjustment to the change as if it's some earth-shattering revelation about someone they've known since they were tiny... despite the fact that we've never seen him before... Wink

Maybe the Les storyline will still be about cross dressing and that Claudette helps people with gender identify issues and that'll lead into the new transgender storyline?

If he is an adult baby I'd want to see him in dull regalia : frilly bonnet, nappy with a nappy pin, big dummy round his neck on a ribbon etc. Would at least bring a bit of comedy into EE!

Buster isn't old enough to be Sharon's dad. She knows her dad is called Gavin. I'd bet good money that it is Kathy's Gavin.

I like Ben too. I think he plays being gay and struggling to live up to his Mitchell name very well.

Did anyone notice Kathy assuring Sharon that Gavin had no DC? Perhaps he didn't know - maybe he'd left the country & Den couldn't contact him but assumed he'd want his DD kept in the gangster faahmly. Should give Sharon a good excuse for a few lip-biting, furrowed-brow scenes when she finds out!

I was v impressed with Ben-actor tonight too. Usually he annoys me with his snivelly "just want my daddy to love me"-ness but he got to do some actual proper acting for once. Even if it was really obvious that he was holding some "sick substitute" in his mouth while attacking the market stall!

Once Ben had gone over to Ian's I wondered if Jay & Abi would have a moment, she'd pull away out of loyalty to Ben & Jay would shout at her that he's been having sex with Paul. Would've made Ben's night just that little bit worse.

The gangster-ness doesn't bother me. When I started watching EE obsessively regularly it was the era of the gangsters - I grew up with the likes of Steve Owen & Johnny Allen running Walford so it seems normal to me to have a gangster round every corner. Thus far I think Gavin is a much more convincing gangster than Gronnie, not that that's hard.

Yes I think he wanted her to let it go. I'm guessing at that point kathy was in touch with Phil so it was all getting a bit close to being revealed

I can be very passive aggressive at times so if I was Sharon I would have just rang the police about Kathy instead of being her chauffeur. Her and Phil are over anyway. She knows Kathy being back will lead to whole heap of issues for her, Jane, Ian and Ben, people who she loves.

Gavin being Shirley's dad makes sense as it would make Shirley and Sharon sisters and they HATE each other.
