Anyone watching this, I like Suranne Jones so I'm hoping it's good, but she is one paranoid woman, maybe she has good reasons, we'll wait and see Smile

There aren't as many grippy moments as I was hoping for. Far too many scenes spent with Doc looking a bit anguished.

I don't care about your pain woman, entertain me!

Tiggeryoubastard · 01/10/2015 14:05

When they first showed the clips I thought she was taking everyone's DNA and was going to do a big set up to get them all. And with the music and close ups of her looking alternately angst ridden and determined it seemed to be going the way of the wonderful 'Life and lives of a she devil'. So not only ha it not lived up to its promise, it's a waste of a wonderful cast.

Lottapianos · 01/10/2015 14:05

Yes, he does look like GRJ. Still would. I'm a fool for a bearded man Wink

bleedingheart · 01/10/2015 14:05

It's hard to care about any of them as they are all so self-involved.
Also think Kate looks much younger than 23 and can not see why Simon would be IN LOVE with her. Another 23 yr old maybe but not her when she is so dull and sulky.
I thought maybe Ros was writing the reviews. Surely the website will know if they are all from the same IP address?
I will watch the last one because I want to see how it ends but it has been pretty crap. Mary was horrible. Did Gemma say something vile to her or her parents in the past? The way she walked out on Tom in the office and talked about him adjusting to her suicide was very cold.
The total turnaround of the abusive boyfriend and her unofficial PI patient was unconvincing too.

LovelyFriend · 01/10/2015 14:28

I enjoyed it last night - more tension! Can't wait for next week.

I'm firmly in the "no thanks" camp re Simon - wouldn't go there in a million years.

Secretary has more to tell. She is in a world of pain/fear and it has to be more than Gemma finding out about about the affair. I think Sec at least fancies Simon and has probably shagged him at some point. Note the way she said "He'll never leave her" so she certainly feels as if she knows an awful lot about S&K.

Turing up for dinner like that was brilliant - just brilliant. Talk about taking back control of the situation. The Mum was squirming - bet S has been there too.

I think Roz fancied S from years ago, and has been plotting her revenge against Gemma for taking the palce she wanted, for years now. How anyone could mistake her for a friend beggars belief - she really is a snake in the grass.

The hypochondriac patient is to show us Gemmas more caring side - she's not a nasty bitch of a doctor, she (usually) goes out of her way to help her patients even the ones no one else at the practice will deal with.

I think UntilTheCowsComeHome has got it!

I think Kate's dad knows and is having an affair with the secretary. He was on the holiday with her and he was the one taking the photos.

Although the secretary (Becky) had the photos on her phone, she was actually IN them. So the photographer is (as yet) unseen. I know about selfie sticks - but truly I am now beginning to think there is a 6th person there which would explain why Becky went on the holiday trip also.

I am not convinced that it is Chris Parks yet (Kate's dad) - would he be happy to know that his daughter was having a long-term affair with Simon?

We already know that Neil Baker (accountant/opposite neighbour) is a sleaze bag - he slept with Gemma. But what about Anna Baker? I don't think she was entirely happy to be out of control when the dinner party was NOW rather than 'next Thursday'.

I still haven't made up my mind if I would or wouldn't with the accountant. The hotel reservation would have expired by the time I got around to 'oh go on then'.

jaketweeneyistooadvancedfor2 · 01/10/2015 15:50

I think she's going to do a disappearing act in a way to implicate Simon and Kate. She's doing the reviews but they will be coming from Simon or Kate's IP address, Jack's tablets will be found with Simon and I think the friend and her boyfriend will be in on it and say that Simon paid them money to bring a spurious complaint (of course Gemmas paid for their services). Add all that to fraud, affairs and pregnancy will give a damn good case for murder.
The 'drowning' was a dry run to see how close she could come to a drowning and still make it back.
Marys comment about you will go back for Tom is, I think significant.
Ooo looking forward to next week!

Hmm, I like the theory. Clearly someone else was taking the photos... but as a dad would you really want your daughter shagging an older married man... it's not making sense. Like most of this show I guess Confused

ENtertainmentAppreciated · 01/10/2015 15:52

I think Kate's dad knows and is having an affair with the secretary. He was on the holiday with her and he was the one taking the photos

That's it. It's a village of swingers but no one's told Gemma so she's still outside the circle Grin

I think the hypochondriac patient could be the mystery reviewer
But last night when he saw her leaving he said she's the only doctor there who was nice to him, the others are all sarcastic, so when she'd been sarcastic on his last appointment he felt she'd moved over to their side.

can not see why Simon would be IN LOVE with her
I don't think Simon loves anyone except himself. His speech at his birthday was recognizing what Gemma's done for him and his anniversary card declared he fancies her, but nothing about love.

Got to catch up on the rest of the thread now.
Can't say I think it's good, but am intrigued as to how it plays out (although I bet the MN versions are better)

brokenhearted, before I watched this I would have just gone batshit on day one and confronted him with all the evidence. But now after watching this, I think I'd just watch for a while and concoct a plan. Seems a much more controlled and dignified way to leave.

BakewellStart · 01/10/2015 15:59

Who were the other people featuring in the holiday snaps the assistant emailed to Dr Foster. It cannot be Kates parents can it?? I mean they surely dont know and condone their daughter shagging a married man.

nicknamenoname · 01/10/2015 16:13

Ooooh, I'm so glad I've found this thread. I've wondered from the beginning who was going to drown, given the "Dr Foster went to Gloucester" rhyme and the fact that the opening credits are awash with water. And last night it looked as if Dr Foster was going to drown herself, but didn't!

What do you think? Is she going to drown Simon or Kate? Is she going to weigh down the body with some white stones? It looks like Kate's dad is the mystery investor (White Stone) but I bet it's not. I think Kate is investing her trust fund in the project, which is why Simon can't break off with her. Gemma's "friend" Ros keeps undermining her. I think she has an ulterior motive going on but I can't work it out.

MrsFring · 01/10/2015 16:15

Gemma is revealing satisfying elements of hardness in her character; the 'feral' reference from slimy neighbour, the comment by Mary as to Gemma's ability to hurt, the emphasis that she placed on the house that her money bought for the family.

I want Gemma to destroy and humiliate everyone who has betrayed her!

( may be a touch over-invested ).

sadwidow28 · 01/10/2015 16:16

TheDietStartsTomorrow I hang out on Mumsnet Relationship boards usually. I only respond to threads where a partner has died but I read others. The advice seems to be (after LTB) "get your evidence and information organised and all documents copied" - in other words, you never show your hand.

I truly understand the initial message of "Dr Foster" though. The cheating isn't necessarily the biggest mistake (that may be forgivable) but the LYING ABOUT IT is. It is the lack of trust and honesty that is coming through for me.

My heart is still with Tom - a child in the middle of parents who don't put his needs first. One minute he is off for Pizza with his Dad, then he is in an angst-ridden car with his Mum that is driven too fast and a U-Turn to follow the Dad - left in the car whilst Mum tries to catch the DH with the OW.

Will somebody from Mumsnet offer to adopt that boy? Must have knowledge of the off-side rule.

Tiggeryoubastard · 01/10/2015 16:38

I think nickname has it, re the trust fund. I also think he's the father of the secretaries child, and he's also involved with her, using Kate for the money. Once it all comes good he can run away with the secretary. Other 'friends' have invested so its in their interests to act as they have.

Septembersunrays · 01/10/2015 16:38

I found last nights episode to be a sort of holding filler type one where not much happens.

Septembersunrays · 01/10/2015 16:42

PS. I think as a GP Harold Shipman could be described as conniving at least! Truth is often stranger than fiction

Shock docs are human some are alcoholics, mad, heavy smokers, drug takers, adulterers, mass killers.....and all the wonderful melly of human character traits!

NoelHeadbands · 01/10/2015 16:46

I'm just rewatching last nights episode as I missed some.

The whole thing- storyline, acting, filming- is just fucking ludicrous Grin

NoelHeadbands · 01/10/2015 16:55

The assistant is like a Catherine Tate character, and Mary is like a dour Edwardian housekeeper 'twas the right thing to do so it must be dun'

NoelHeadbands · 01/10/2015 16:58

'hi where are you?

'In a hotel'
