Anyone watching this, I like Suranne Jones so I'm hoping it's good, but she is one paranoid woman, maybe she has good reasons, we'll wait and see Smile

The accountants wife looks weird. Is she wearing a wig.

Robotgirl · 25/09/2015 14:13

Oh brilliant! Only just discovered this thread. Have enjoyed every episode so far from is-she-losing-the-fucking-plot? to what-a-bunch-of-shits-all-the-men-are.....
Agree accountants wife is odd.
Have you noticed how much Gemma plays with her earrings?

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 25/09/2015 14:26

Don't think that they told us why Susie was so grateful to Gemma but amazed if she and/or Neil Stuke don't turn out to be funding Simon's project.

Another one here who liked the casual way Gemma keyed his car, (did the taxi driver notice?).

OutToGetYou · 25/09/2015 14:44

Keying cars isn't as easy as that, it's quite hard, you need a bent nail really...

OutToGetYou
Grin is your username linked to you car-keying knowledge?

RobotGirl I was swearing about her earring fiddling upthread only last night.

In the spirit of the thread I am thinking what could the earrings be symbolic of? Gemma used a "lost" earring as a device to get access to Simon's car when she found the 2nd phone. She takes them off when shagging another man. Perhaps they are symbolic of "hanging in there" :) I know, I know, I'm being silly now.

lotrben17 · 25/09/2015 15:06

Anybody else enjoying Gemma's clothes? the story is bonkers! I also don't accept the whole 'the lie is worse than the cheating' thing...

emotionsecho · 25/09/2015 16:39

Gemma said she and Simon lived where Kate is living when they came back from London and she was pregnant, she didn't mean the same house surely? Is Simon repeating what he did with Gemma with Kate, but Kate won't save him from drowning as Gemma did, or Gemma watches them both drown? How's that for a wild theory?

Justaboy · 25/09/2015 23:05

OutToGetYou 'ello 'ello 'ello, you got previous doing that eh;?.

Justaboy · 25/09/2015 23:09

Robotgirl Humm do you think that Simon is knocking off the accountants wife as well, as such a smarmy git is bound to have a few more on the side somewhere?, well he said so, so perhaps his wife is seeking to level the score?.

OutToGetYou · 26/09/2015 00:08

Out To Get You is a song by James, who I love!

My mental father used to scratch cars.

Re her clothes, no - her coats/cardis annoy me. Are they coats? Are they cardigans? Whatever they are either WEAR THEM or DON'T WEAR THEM. This draped over the shoulder rubbish has to stop. No-one does that in real life.

SaintEyning · 26/09/2015 07:32

I think we're meant to think of Renee Russo in the remake of the Thomas Crown Affair with her clothes - they even played the music from the film when she got into the taxi.

ProfYaffle · 26/09/2015 07:49

Yy re the coats! Spent much of the last episode shouting 'put your arms in your sleeves!'

BoreOfWhabylon · 26/09/2015 08:51

Like CheekyMaleekey , I am not feeling the SJ love. Her constant gurning and 'dazzling smile' flashing, like a wannabe Julia Roberts, irritates the hell out of me.

The writer appears to have done no basic research on medics or medicine - whole thing is improbable tosh.

I will, however, be sticking around for the denouement Grin.

Reckon Gemma will turn out to be serial killer (she may be an imposter who killed off the original Doc Foster and assumed her identity) and will finish off a few more before she's done.

She'll get away with it though.

2rebecca · 26/09/2015 09:26

I don't care how it ends as long as it has a proper ending. I've had enough of BBC series that just fizzle out and leave me feeling pissed off rather than satisfied at having watched a well told story.
I'm listening to the BBC short stories at the moment and some of them just stop too. Mark haddons has a proper ending. I recommend that on iplayer

Egghead68 · 26/09/2015 09:34

I think the acting is awful, especially from the people playing Gemma and Rosnand the plot is full of implausible details. Annoyingly I'm still hooked, though.

I think Gemma gave the drunk doctor's sleeping pills to her mother-in-law.
I think Neil Stuke is Whitestone.
Ros probably slept with Simon as a teenager.

Next time we apparently find out more about Gemma's life before marriage and Spoiler alert

Mary makes an appearance in one of the last two episodes.

lotrben17 · 26/09/2015 10:11

They're clearly going in for her as having been some sort of wild child before meeting s. The dr as social avenger thing is naff and ridiculous but satisfying.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 26/09/2015 18:00

Now I've read all the theories on here the actual bloody program seems tame by comparison. Grin

Zucker · 26/09/2015 22:34

If they don't give her some sort of victory over his smugness I'll kill the tv. I want to see her walk over him while he's begging for forgiveness.

Pranmasghost · 27/09/2015 07:50

It's going to be like the 70s drama Bouquet of Barbed Wire where everyone shags everyone except the dog! Is there a dog?

2rebecca · 27/09/2015 09:12

I loved that but watched it sporadically at the time as got sent to bed when it got raunchy

NoahVale · 27/09/2015 10:41

the blonde doesnt suit the accountants wife.
and why was she so jealous
they are friends and neighbours

Duckdeamon · 27/09/2015 10:42

She says she "loves her job": is that realistic for a GP? I don't know any but imagine working life to be more fraught than hers!

Justaboy · 27/09/2015 13:31

Duckdeamon Well some see it as a vocation its a difficult one to get into though and fiercely competitive, but some see it as a moneyed thing. the average practice GP is on around a 100K a year the average consultant NHS and private work somewhere around "sufficient" or don't ask;!.

kobelakers · 28/09/2015 00:19

I got a little distracted last episode with the baby how did Simon find out she was pregnant?

And did she have a termination?
