Anyone watching this, I like Suranne Jones so I'm hoping it's good, but she is one paranoid woman, maybe she has good reasons, we'll wait and see Smile

Agree the screwing me over financially would be a much bigger betrayal for me as that is much more premeditated and passionless than an affair with a young girl. A 2 year affair would be wave bye bye though although I can understand her not wanting to be stuck with debt if he gets half her pension

ellenanora5 · 23/09/2015 23:26

LyndaNotLinda, thank you, he was in Teachers, I'm couldn't remember where I knew him from Grin

Anyway, back to the plot, haven't a clue now what is what, I presume she got the tablets for mil, she told mil her and her son would be fine financially so she could pop her clogs with no worries.

I'm not convinced Kate had a termination, I think her and the bar girl will be good friends and bar girl will tell her that Dr Foster set her up to get to know her.

I do not like Ros, is she meant to be funny, she isn't.

I hated the scene with Gemma and accountant, I think I know why she did it but she could have black mailed him another way.

Sorry, I'm not contributing much to the theories, I will watch it till the end though, because I really want to see what happens.

I think they made a mistake making a GP that financially naive though. GPs run their own businesses. Female gps I know wouldn't be leaving all the finances to their husbands. They're often earning more and more financially savvy

Duckdeamon · 23/09/2015 23:30

Agree with Lynda, pregnancy resulting from unwitting incest is not very BBC!

Y'all can keep the sleazy accountant.

Rebecca, now This Life was in a different league and Anna a fab character.

PacificD, don't think the WWing characters are "true" civil servants but more like lots of political typies, appointed by politicians as is done in the U.S.. I only wish civil service work could be half as glamorous, I would play Donna!
Did once get propositioned by a RL U.S. Civil servant / adviser type, in Washington no less, but unfortunately he had more in common with sleazy accountant than Josh Lyman!

MudCity · 23/09/2015 23:31

I agree Out...there would be no way back from that.

I would also struggle with getting over the fact that he is hopeless. He does nothing around that house apart from say what a busy day he's had at work. He's not even got a handle on his business and needs everyone else to help him along. Dire.

Baconyum · 23/09/2015 23:32

Whitestone could be a conglomerate of local friends.

2rebecca you're so right AND she's the senior partner in the practice.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Kate only said she'd booked a termination not that she'd had it n it depended on him telling Gemma? Dd was in at that point.

I agree 2Rebecca. Also she said that she was bankrolling him while he got the business off the ground. Surely shed check the finances. And as a partner in the surgery, she'll have some control of that budge, if not a CCG.

LyndaNotLinda · 23/09/2015 23:37

Budget, not budge!

TheCraicDealer · 23/09/2015 23:39

Well I'm still loving it. I would also give Anwar a rattle and Neil could come over to take a look at my books any time Wink

When the scenes with just Simon and Ros were on I was like "yiiiiiiiiis, it's not all a figment of her imagination!". Loved the car keying, also want to know how's been slagging her off on the rate my GP thing. Ros and Simon were together, alcoholic Dr is off with Mary(?!) in London and on side, Kate was with gritty new mate....hmm. Looks like next week the PA gets embroiled so we'll see what happens there.

At the end I was thinking of the threads where the OP is all, "he says he's sorry and we've just booked a holiday for Easter half term and the kids are really looking forward to it so I've decided to forgive him". She'll be posting again in a few weeks, mark my words.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2015 23:40

Agree accountant is sexy. He was in hustle as a rich prat business man who got ripped off twice.

Maybe she felt tit for tat hence why she slept with him As Simons best friend so a double blow if /when he finds out

Just seems weird that you have an affair but let your bf and wife know - and ros and secretary - once one person knows it will never be a secret - tho impressed been with her 2yrs and Gemma didn't know

Do we think she gave mil pills then. Coz if she did then a bit silly as know she can't leave simon and cancels the divorce - so don't think she did give the pills

2rebecca · 23/09/2015 23:42

I presumed the pregnant girlie was responsible. A PA response to her 'boyfriend' not ditching her.

Baconyum · 23/09/2015 23:42

Wife always last to know I was!

2rebecca · 23/09/2015 23:44

I agree that I think the 2 pregnant girls will become real friends and that will bite Gemma on the bum

Justaboy · 23/09/2015 23:53

am i allowed to to say I'd like an evening diagnoses with the good doctor;?.

emotionsecho · 23/09/2015 23:54

Couple of things bugging me - the messages on the 'rate my GP' thingy, who wrote them and why? The alcoholic doctor she sent away to get well last week, is that his only involvement in the programme and if so it seemed a bit of a pointless filler that didn't add anything to the story.

Just thought of a couple more, what is her doctor friend up to and why did the accountant's wife look so mad when she found Gemma at their house?

Weren't the accountant and his wife in the pictures on the secret phone with Simon and Kate?

I hope all these loose ends get tied up.

GaryBaldy · 23/09/2015 23:56

Picking up the revenge theme, maybe she is picking off all those who knew about his deception one by one, ready to bring them down when she wants:

Ros - she has made her breach patient confidentiality
Accountant - he knew about the finances so she slept with him so she has that hold over him
Accountants wife - she has got revenge by sleeping with her husband
MIL - knew all along and kept it quiet, so she has hastened her departure

MudCity · 24/09/2015 00:01

TheCraic I think that might be what happens..."We're going on holiday (to that resort the neighbours were talking about in the first episode)...Tom will love it...everything is fine..." Viewer is thinking that Gemma is a pushover. Then BAM!..Simon gets into trouble in the water but this time (for the first time in her life) Gemma doesn't rescue him.

Hell hath no fury...let's not forget that poem.

MudCity · 24/09/2015 00:04

GaryBaldy...spot on!

LovelyFriend · 24/09/2015 00:41

YY to Kate's dad being Whitestone. Episode 1 when they went to restaurant opening simon mentioned he had some dealings with the father.

Ros vvv annoying, desperate to please. Loved how her colleague pulled her up on flirting.

Don't think Gemma killed Simons mum.

This is about her not being THAT woman!

Quite fancy divorce lawyer but accountant is sleazy.

If that is feral hard sex Shock well I must be doing it all wrong.

I loved how G used sleaze bag to get the financial info she would otherwise be excluded from. Ruthless & goal orientated - and it worked.

Now her see has sawed and she is mistakenly believing things can go back to normal. Well we know how that scenario works out don't we?

Could online troll be Kate? Or old doc in rehab? Kate doesn't seem too concerned about Gemma - she believed Simon - up until she didn't. So I'm thinking not Kate.

LovelyFriend · 24/09/2015 00:43

Why would Gemma want revenge against accountants wife?

emotionsecho · 24/09/2015 01:00

Lovely I thought there were pictures on the secret phone of Simon, Kate, accountant and wife all together somewhere, so they all know about the affair and have covered for Simon.

Good call re Whitestone but do Kate's parents know about her and Simon?

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/09/2015 04:38

Yes her so called friends Roz and neighbours wife both knew about the affair as of the pics on the phone

Not sure why Gemma dad would bail out simon and a lot of the money simon stole was Gemma's inheritance / I assumed from when parents died but obv not if dad Alive - maybe they are very rich and she got a lUmp sum at 21/25/30 etc

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/09/2015 04:40

And yes revenge sounds good

Wonder why she will do to secretary and black girl isn't pregnant. She just said that to make friends with kate

Wonder how SUSIE will raact knowing her daughter is sleeping with her friend

And what the hell does she see in him?? Gemma has the money. Simon doesn't seem to want to divorce her even to get 50/50 so why does kate stay with him?

LovelyFriend · 24/09/2015 07:28

Ah of course! Yes.

She doesn't seem to have pushed Ros for any details does she? About how they were all socialising with Kate etc. Or is that just accepted as fact now?

There is no money is there?. Simons spunked it all away. So unless and until the property development is a success they are virtually bankrupt. Divorce now would bring the whole house of cards down. If she hangs in there for 6 months she can stay financially sound and do Simon for fraud.

It's all feeling very holey with too many loose ends and not much energy now. Which is probably how Gemma feels - she's come so far, she knows it has to end, but she doesn't have the energy to keep driving her plan forward. Easier to sit still for a moment.
