Anyone watching this, I like Suranne Jones so I'm hoping it's good, but she is one paranoid woman, maybe she has good reasons, we'll wait and see

"Sometimes it's the place that's the problem"....this was said twice in the last episode.

In the nursery rhyme Dr Foster never went to Gloucester again. It was the place that was the problem not the puddle or the rain.

Simon Foster comes across as quite immature and damaged...he treats Gemma like she is his mother (and at times she seems to happily fulfil that role...she is the organiser of everything, the person who sorts things out). He realised she was 'the one' after she rescued him in the sea and she probably rescues him again and again hence his birthday party speech. My guess is that something happened to him as a child / adolescent that everyone in the village knows about and they continue to help and protect him.

I think they both have some kind of history and it wouldn't surprise me if there is an incest storyline in there somewhere relating to him.

On an entirely different note, that Kate has a face I would dearly love to slap!

Why thank you *Bathtime. I'm still working on it.... Love all the theories on this thread. Definitely don't think it's a straightforward adultery and revenge plot. Will be terribly disappointed if it is.

Yes, it's meant to be spring but they've obviously filmed it in the winter.

The mum is unreliable because she's got early-stage dementia and is confusing son/husband (like KenDodd and others on thread observe).

Loving all the theories, I don't think the wee sample was Kate's, that Ros definitely has something to do with it.
I think he is having an affair with somebody but not Kate, Kate is having an affair with the Anna's husband that lives opposite.

I’m loving this. Although when she and the MIL were like, “Ohhh, he has a right to know!”, I was a bit . I mean Kate decided pretty quick she didn’t want the baby, who is Gemma to decide who needs to know? And if I’d been Ros I would’ve told her to jef off, I’m not risking my job. Also on a more selfish level if the marriage did go tits up I wouldn’t want my DC to have to deal with a new sibling to the OW at the same time as watching their home life disintegrate.

I’ll be so cross if this is all delusional, it’s just lazy. Really hoping she starts dismantling his life step by step using her new little chums and it all comes tumbling down around him just before his ‘big success’ with this development.

I haven't read the thread fully yet but I think maybe the patient who dr foster sent to spy on her husband has set him/her up somehow.

We didn't actually see him kissing outside the front door, she suggested the doctor check the boot of his car etc, she could have planted the blonde hair at her appointment on huge scarf.

I think she planted the photos on the phone because there were only separate photos of the doctors friends not with the husband and his supposed mistress.

I think the mum in the home is thinking about her own husband not her son.

Just a thought, I could be completely wrong.

I think maybe dr foster upset the patient somehow ages ago and this is her revenge.

I have now read the thread quickly and yes kate could be the husbands daughter. I agree there are lots of secrets from years ago.

No it wouldn't be adorabelle; she would've located the second phone the same evening she'd found the hair and lip balm after everyone would've gone, "check his glovebox and boot", then she'd post an update and we'd all be like, "LTB", she'd go, "OK", buck him out and then get her free hour with a solicitor after taking photocopies of all the bank statements. It would be satisfying but there wouldn't be any dramatic flair!

I don't get why everyone has been covering up for Simon and continued to cover for him even as they realised that Gemma was doscovering the affair (surely most friends would be relieved she was finding out for herself??) Makes me think that he has been spinning a web of lies that she is unhinged etc and that he is just staying with her for her mental health. She is starting to crack though. I am fascinated to see what happens next!!

I think Glasspumpkin is right about the mother, and she is thinking about her own husband, I think this weeks episode will be more revealing, cant wait to see it

Thinking about it I'm thinking Ros is one of Simons ex's/they had a ons and she is obsessed. The evidence prior to Gemma saying anything to Ros was Ltd at best and easily explained by him having a secret daughter in Kate.

Everything else could have been planted/arranged by Ros. Ros could also have messed with Simons mum's head.

Ooh interesting, imdb have Gemma, Simon and Ros as main characters for last 3 episodes.

Can someone please clarify where the boot-phone is now please? She found it, flicked through it, and I thought she took it away? If she did why didn't she just chuck it at him when he denied in the kitchen the morning after she'd snuck out. He'd say 'no I I'm not having an affair' and she'd say 'well what about THIS' or did she put it back? Why would you put it back??
