Personally I would have taken it and said something - plus although dp and I know each other's passwords /phone lock etc - if I had a secret phone I wouldn't be using the same password

I took her reference to not being "that" woman was along the lines of being a woman who is cheated on by her husband, divorces and is left alone. ie she was having a moment of refusing to accept what she was discovering.

the phone is in the boot but she was in shock and under pressure when she put all that stuff back.

for me the question isn't so much why did she put it back, but why hasn't she got it out again - she must have other plans.

It was rather ridicolous that she didn't look at more than one message on the mobile phone - surely you'd have a good scroll through to see what conversations were going on. Obivously all part of the storyline that she doesn't find out too much though

I guess she didn't have time because of the party. If that had been me though, I'd have put it in my handbag and had a good look later.

The whole thing with his phone and also accepting when he said that he wasn't having an affair is that she doesn't want him to know that she knows. If she takes the phone then he will instantly know and start trying to cover his tracks or lie.

Who was it that said maybe it was to do with that nursery rhyme "doctor foster went to gloucester" or something? Something to do with drowning? I've been thinking about it since I saw that on here and given the opening credits sequence, I think you're right
