Anyone watching this, I like Suranne Jones so I'm hoping it's good, but she is one paranoid woman, maybe she has good reasons, we'll wait and see Smile

Didn't it seem odd that Ros (the colleague) knows everything? Just a thought, could it actually be her that's having the fling and is happy to let young girl take the rap? And between her and husband they are making Suranne believe that she's going loopy and chasing the wrong person?

squoosh · 19/09/2015 01:56

The bribed patient who wants sleeping pills will be a figment, or at the least an elaboration after the crappy BF confronted.

This makes no sense. I hate to keep banging on about it but it only works as a 'crazy lady hallucination' if the doctor features in all scenes.

The scene independent of Doctor Foster with her pills patient spying on the husband can only exist outside of her head.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 19/09/2015 02:15

Yeah she had a whole conversation with the brain tumour patient in front of Ros, Kate (cow) and the rest of the surgery, so I can't see how the "beautiful mind" theory fits.

YonicScrewdriver · 19/09/2015 06:19

Squoosh, she could be imagining that scene, after all, she's talking to pills patient.

Why would Simon go to his wife's practice to ask about STIs? Why not a GUM walk in clinic?

BringMeTea · 19/09/2015 06:35

Yes Yonic I thought the same re GUM clinic. Even if he went not thinking it was an sti it is still dubious. Crap writing is preferable to 'all in her head' though!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 19/09/2015 06:53

I was thinking it could be quite Ashes to Ashes. But the goggle boxers watching last night seemed to think it was straightforward !

BathtimeFunkster · 19/09/2015 06:54

Nice theory, R00ta :)

Crap writing is preferable to 'all in her head' though!

All in her head could be the worst of writing or something special, depending on how/why it's done.

Gemma has already shown herself to be very unreliable and untrustworthy, so there is some scope there.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2015 08:36

Also thought that about gum

Why go to your gp a personal close friend of yours and wife to admit you had a std

Plus if hubby had one then wouldn't girlfriend /daughter / whoever kate is have a std as well if he was shagging her ?

So either Roz is lying about the std and how she knows about the affair

Also wouldn't she then tell Gemma to get checked out

I think it points to Roz being the one who is having an affair with simon

And kate is pregnant by a diff married man - possibly even neighbour across the road - smarmy man from hustle

BringMeTea · 19/09/2015 08:45

I suppose so Bathtime though my faith has been shaken too many times!

Blondes, I think there was no sti, Ros had just run the tests and he was cagey about extra-marital.

AyeAmarok · 19/09/2015 08:50

I just watched both these episodes in a oner on iPlayer. So glad to have done this thread!

I still think that the H is sleeping with the 22 year old and it's his baby.

Although I don't know why he didn't just let Kate get rid of the pregnancy. That's weird.

WHAJEB1 · 19/09/2015 09:05

Can I jump in with my theory!

He is fair and square having an affair but going by the clip of episode 3 there may be an 'excuse' on his part (not condoning in any way) for why. People seem to like Simon, he seems to have a better relationship with his kid and not as controlling as Gemma maybe he - they have empathy for him hence covering up? When they're going to Kate's parents restaurant he says sorry to her when he realises who they are and apologises about his work.

Going by the looks between Kate and Gemma at the party, Kate must be suspicious that she knows and it's her that gives a false urine sample to try and keep him - hence getting her bag, especially after they were so tactile at the birthday party. Could she even be bribing him that she will tell his parents about the affair after maybe a one night stand, the dad seemed to have some involvement with the development!

I'm sure I'll be way out Blush

Cherrypie32 · 19/09/2015 09:38

I think I web of lies is being spun by the community to either a/ get rid of husband because of his history in the town (his behaviour prior to meeting his wife could have pissed a lot of them off) or b/get rid of the wife because she is an outsider, is aloof, up her own arse and they don't like her.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2015 09:54

Oh. I thought according to ros that simon went to her as thought he had one

Why would you think that - unless he had a warty knob /stings when peeing etc

MudCity · 19/09/2015 10:28

I agree with other posters about an Ashes to Ashes vibe. There is some kind of parallel life going on...what would have happened if Gemma had done things differently...if she had supported her older doctor colleague following the loss of his partner? What would have happened if she had seen the male patient with the brain tumour and diagnosed him? What would have happened if she had prescribed / not prescibed the sleeping pills to Carly or got to the heart of why she was asking for them sooner?

I do think Kate is his daughter (he used to sleep around when he was younger)...maybe he found out two years ago and his mother was referring to that rather than the fact he is having an affair right now.

Basically, I wonder if the theme is...if Gemma had known then what she knows now, what choices would she have made?

thunderbird69 · 19/09/2015 10:48

Her relationship with the old doctor was very different between the 2 episodes - was that 2 different versions of how things went?

Also, what happened with the wing mirror - was it knocked off and then later on was back to normal as if nothing had happened?

RhodaBull · 19/09/2015 11:01

The "it's all in her imagination" theory is interesting, but it's a TV drama...

Definitely it's his daughter, with the KLAXON he shagged around a lot 20 years ago. And the mother in the home definitely mixing up husband and father KLAXON that's what his father did.

Good bit of continuity howlers. Dr Foster left party, and when she got home 5 minutes later it was pitch dark. She still had her coat on so not much time had passed. And it was obviously winter, not a leaf on a tree, and all the poor guests were standing around with burgers in a gale-force wind.

Plus - dh and I laughed when husband pulled off his shirt to reveal bare torso, and then he was suddenly in a t-shirt. Magic! Dh says he wishes he could get changed as fast as that.

RebootYourEngine · 19/09/2015 11:04

Why does it all have to some ellaborate plot. Cant it just be a straight forward married man sleeps with younger woman story. I know it wont as entertaining but it is normal life.

NoelHeadbands · 19/09/2015 11:08

Probably because we know that they're stringing it out for five hours

I hope it is straightforward adultery tbh. I'll be most annoyed if it does turn out to be 'seemingly successful woman unhinges and gets wrong end of stick'

thunderbird69 · 19/09/2015 11:18

There is so much that is unbelievable and unrealistic that it seems there must be more to it than just a normal story? It's fun to speculate Grin

The part that seems hard to explain if he isn't having an affair is the snog he had, when watched by the bribed patient.

RhodaBull · 19/09/2015 12:31

You couldn't really see the snog though, just an embrace, which adds fuel to the daughter theory.

thunderbird69 · 19/09/2015 14:08

I rewound it when I watched and it certainly looked like an intimate kiss

thunderbird69 · 19/09/2015 14:14

wasn't there also a condom in his secret bag in the boot of the car?

WHAJEB1 · 19/09/2015 14:40

Yes thunderbird and in the work bag the secretary said was hers.

Loving all the speculation too Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2015 16:20

did we actually see the kiss, i thought we just saw what the female black patient saw, and she got reg number and thats the link to susie/kate

can anyone find alink to that scene

squoosh · 19/09/2015 16:44

It definitely shows a kiss, we just can't see who he's kissing.
