Anyone watching this, I like Suranne Jones so I'm hoping it's good, but she is one paranoid woman, maybe she has good reasons, we'll wait and see Smile

If its all a figment..whats the point? where would the storyline be?

Beachday · 17/09/2015 22:46

I liked it
Whoever said she's a string intelligent woman, she would have confronted him straight away- that's not necessarily the way it works.

I'm not sure whether it's badly written with unrealistic dialogue or whether there's more to it.

Beachday · 17/09/2015 22:47

Strong intelligent woman!

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/09/2015 04:42

dairy glad it's not just me who notices things like that Grin

Kate def didn't want to talk to Gemma about her pregnancy and looked shifty / but maybe as she had Had an affair with simon but but not any more - tho why would he then go racing off when got told she was pregnant

If had been seeing simon for 3mths the unlucky to get pregnant asap ......

Tho why tell his mum about having an affair. You just wouldnt do that Hmm

Don't know why she doesn't confront him with the phone and pics

Or follow him again - if Roz hadn't had texted him then GEMMA would have found out what was happening

And why is she being so nice to the old doctor considering they were yelling and hating each there in first episode

And she deserves to be struck off doctors list for blabbing not once but twice about patients!!!

LadyB49 · 18/09/2015 05:18

Has she sent alcoholic doctor off so that she can have the use of his house.
Could Simon be having affair with Kate's mum, Kate is his daughter and he took off for that reason. Kate is having affair with a different married man.

LadyB49 · 18/09/2015 05:21

Simon's affair with Kate's mother --- 2 years
Kate's affair with other married man --- 3 months

Scoobydoo8 · 18/09/2015 06:38

She will separate from cheating DH.

Then just as she looks like she is a successful woman going it alone she will be struck off for any one of her many misdemeanors.

Then she will do something else stupid about which I won't care as this series is not worthy of following imo, they have to be a teensy bit believable to be watched which this isn't.

carabos · 18/09/2015 08:05

She's self-absorbed and rubbish at her job. I'm rather hoping that it's actually about how people get taken in by their own status and that she gets her come uppance. The affair is neither here nor there Wink.

cowbag1 · 18/09/2015 08:11

If the affair has been going on for 2 years, how old would that have made Kate when it started?!!

So yes, I think he's either having more than 1 affair or that Kate is his daughter.

ThoseAwfulCurtains · 18/09/2015 08:11

It's a strange one. I think Kay Mellor would have done a better job.

YonicScrewdriver · 18/09/2015 08:16

Kate is 22 now, cowbag.

cowbag1 · 18/09/2015 08:36

Ah ok, I thought she looked much younger.

LovelyFriend · 18/09/2015 10:05

They have alluded to DrF's arrogance many times and this is displayed in her reckless actions with her patients, her unorthodox approach to the nasty boyfriend, the way she handled work disciplinary hearing with then older doctor etc. So it is DrF who is also still being slowly revealed to us.

When she was talking with Roz (I think) she was saying "I will not be THAT woman" - by which I took her to mean some kind of cliched cheated upon wife who trusted her husband and has been betrayed, who would divorce and have to face starting over again. Again this taps into both her strength of character but also arrogance that this was not going to happen to a person "like her".

I don't think she is going to murder anyone - for someone with that level of arrogance, it's too simple and basic for her. She will want/need to find a more interesting way to punish those involved in trying to make her "that woman".

BringMeTea · 18/09/2015 10:30

Love this thread. Suranne Jones is eminently watchable so I will stick with this. However. I strongly suspect it's another Broadchurch where mnetters come up with far more interesting and credible theories than the writers. If they dare to go down the 'it was all in her head' route I may have to march on Portland Place.

RebootYourEngine · 18/09/2015 11:17

I have read a tv book for next week and it says that him and kate have been having a 2 year affair and dr foster uses the pill bribed patient to befriend her. Kate and gemma both dump simon.

I think it will just be a basic man has affair with young woman, wife finds out, gets divorced amd maybe a bit of revenge. 3 episodes would have worked better.

BodieBroadus · 18/09/2015 11:28

I love some of the theories on here but also reckon they are a lot more interesting than how the actual story will pan out.

I don't think anyone will be fictional, and he will be having an affair with several women, then there will be some sort of overblown showdown in episode 5. Though I hope not!

R00tat00tt00t · 18/09/2015 13:31

I have the start of a theory in my head but haven't thought it all through properly yet but... I wonder if it could be that Dr Foster has already been struck off (the medical register) herself for negligence/inappropriate behaviour and that the more unbelievable characters ie pills girl and brain tumour man are ?ghosts/delusions of past patients that she made mistakes with eg girl asked for sleeping pills, she prescribed them and girl killed herself due to abusive relationship? Brain tumour patient misdiagnosed and since died? Didn't help alcoholic colleague when she could have? Is she trying to sort it all out in her head? Maybe mistakes that she's made with these patients is making her paranoid about what else she is 'missing' in real life ie husbands affair/s? Maybe she didn't save husband from drowning all those years ago. All very rambling I know, sorry!

Clawdy · 18/09/2015 14:47

It does seem very odd that she is always bumping into patients outside, usually at night.

thunderbird69 · 18/09/2015 17:17

Just catching with this and interested in all your theories.

I don't know if this was mentioned, but what seemed odd to me was that I thought the couple over the road were close friends in the first episode but in the second one she seems to find them annoying and ignores them. Maybe supports the idea that she is delusional?

LovelyFriend · 18/09/2015 17:21

the couple from across the road are very annoying aren't they though? The husband is a dickhead/prat and the wife is quite odd. The joke about "I'm sleeping with Simon" was really bad taste.

thunderbird69 · 18/09/2015 17:51

I also agree that Ros seems unreliable - no proof that the husband actually went to see her and mentioned an affair, no proof that the girl booked an abortion, no proof that she called the husband to tell her about the abortion.

Could the mother in the home be mixing up her son and her husband?

thunderbird69 · 18/09/2015 18:29

Also!!

The alcoholic doctor going on a train journey to meet a friend of hers at the other end. Was that symbolising his death?

I'm now getting an Ashes to Ashes vibe Wink

WickedWax · 18/09/2015 18:30

She's ignoring the couple over the road in the second episode, because she's seen pictures on the secret phone of them out with her DH and the OW on some kind of double date.

NickNacks · 18/09/2015 19:52

I don't think the +ve test was with kate's wee. She came back in to get her handbag just as Gemma was about to rummage through it.

NoelHeadbands · 18/09/2015 20:02

I think the 'Mary' that she packed the alcoholic Dr off to see, was alluding to the fact that she herself had been in therapy, or rehab etc and that's how she knows her
