Hooray! Let's hope that this series is better than the last.
Oh look it's Arya Stark! And more Missy!
And PC's hair is madder than ever!
(And I've found the box of exclamation marks!!!!!)
Let's see Tardis

Tardis Just testing
TrionicLettuce · 10/08/2015 12:46

I'm not much of a fan of New Who (I'm a staunch Classic Whovian) but so far I think PC has been the best of the bunch. I rather enjoyed 'Mummy on the Orient Express' last year which is a first for the new stuff!!

For the first time since the new era began I'm actually interested to see what the new season is like.

As an aside (and because DH is probably sick of me talking about it) I met Tom Baker on Saturday. Tom. Baker. He was lovely and I can pretty much die happy now Tardis

Gruach · 10/08/2015 12:51

You preferred Orient Express to Silence in the Library or The Girl Who Waited?

Shock Shock Shock
AnOddOod · 10/08/2015 12:52

I liked MS but really disliked Amy.
Clara is ok at times but Danny pink would have been better (& Rory & Rorys Dad!)

TrionicLettuce · 10/08/2015 12:55

I thought it was rather fun. I really, really don't like either Tennant or Smith. Capaldi is the first of the new Doctor's I've not found so off putting I couldn't concentrate on the stories.

Idontseeanytimelords · 10/08/2015 13:13

The orient express one was pretty good, I liked Time Heist last year. In fact most of the episodes were good and not so involved as they have been with MS or DT (although I liked both), last year was more along the classic lines of just good stories without having to refer back too much to other episodes (or seasons).
That was what pissed me off about River Song. - you needed to have seen every episode she was in for 4? Years to know what was going on.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 10/08/2015 14:02

Orient Express was one of my favourites too - the scene where the Doctor is talking to himself in his own voice and answering himself in Tom Baker's voice Shock

Trionic You met TOM BAKER???????? I am so jealous!

fancyanotherfez · 10/08/2015 14:12

My DS adored MS so I have a massive soft spot for him. It has taken both of us a while to get used to PC as a result, but I'm looking forward to this season. I do think we need a new companion or two. Clara had a couple of good farewell scenes but then didn't leave, so I don't know where she can go from here.

ShipShapeAhoy · 10/08/2015 14:38

Moffat likes his complicated story arcs a bit too much.

Completely agree. Fun the first few times but got a bit too predictable and samey-wamey I thought.

I loved Christopher Eccleston as the first New Doctor. I think he was great. Surprisingly (to me) I really loved Catherine Tate as the companion too. I wonder what she'd be like with PC as The Doctor.

I recorded the last series on my sky box. I might (read: definitely will) do a rewatch in preparation!.

I was too young for Doctor Who the first time round, though I vaguely remember watching a few episodes. Not sure who the Doctor was (I'm 27 if anyone can work out who it may have been! I think I saw one where the Doctor and 2 companions were stuck in a small room and pretended to be sick. There were Daleks involved). I've tried watching some old ones and just can't get into it.

ShipShapeAhoy · 10/08/2015 14:41

Oh one Amy and MS episode that does stand out in my mind as being good is the one where she gets stuck on a planet. They come to rescue her but she's aged and changed. I think I liked it because she was a bit less 'the girl who waited' and a bit more independent and strong. She'd given up expecting to be rescued and learnt to fend for her self.

Idontseeanytimelords · 10/08/2015 15:22

If Donna Noble ever met PC's Doctor it would just be an hour of them being sarcastic at each other Grin

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 10/08/2015 16:03

Idont Oh that would be amazing! I always thought that about Donna and Chris Ecc's Doctor as well! I think Eleven would be terrified of her Grin

I have to admit that Donna has been my favourite companion of all time - she was so lairy yet vulnerable

VagelinaJolie · 10/08/2015 18:51

So if we got rid of annoying Clara and we had a male companion, who would we like and what would their character be?

OP posts:
LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 10/08/2015 18:59

If we were talking dream choices, then probably someone older than his usual companions like Wilf or Amy's Dad Brian, with their childlike wonder

And this totally wouldn't work but in terms of actors, someone like Paul Higgins (Jamie from TTOI) but that could be because I love their TTOI relationship even though it's not a huge part of the show!

fancyanotherfez · 10/08/2015 19:01

I'd prefer another female companion, just to stop it being so blokey, but wouldn't mind it being a male and female. I agree about the sexual tension, but we don't get that now with PC and JC. I would like an unknown, up and coming actor/actress. Its an amazing opportunity for them and I think it would be good. Also, its what the BBC should be doing.
It would be good if they could be from another planet too. They would have to be humanoid for practical reasons, but they could still be from Krypton or wherever!

fancyanotherfez · 10/08/2015 19:02

Or maybe some of the kids from the Sarah Jane Adventures. That would be great and a good link between the shows.

ThoseAwfulCurtains · 10/08/2015 19:06

Back on it now the weird looking bloke's gone. David T and Russell were spotted having dinner together in Cardiff Bay recently. (Not by me - there'd have been an unseemly scuffle)
Just sayin Grin

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 10/08/2015 19:11

ThoseAwful Grin There are rumours that they are going to explain the Fires of Pompeii/Why did I choose this face

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 10/08/2015 19:15

Actually someone like Donna, if they want another woman - nothing other than mates

ThoseAwfulCurtains · 10/08/2015 19:30

I liked Donna too.

TheWintersmith · 10/08/2015 22:29

I've just rewatched all of DTs who's. Forgotten just how much I loved Donna as a Companion.

I liked Clara at first but I'm bored of her, she's just been in too long now. I want to see PC with someone else, see how his character works with someone else. I'd like to see frank skinners engineer as a returning character. I like to see the Doctor when he works with an intelligent companion, who can give him a run for his money, Martha was good for that.

Love The Mistress tho, Michelle Gomez is fab.

TheWintersmith · 10/08/2015 22:31

I do like the idea of having a companion who is a mate, no UST.

Best. Line. Ever.

'Well you're not mating with ME sunshine '

YonicScrewdriver · 10/08/2015 22:32

Brian was Rory's dad.

GrumpyOldBiddy2 · 10/08/2015 22:40

I'd like to see River Song with PC, they could really build on the relationship. Want Clara to go, very soon. Too much focus on the age thing with a younger companion, it's like travelling with dad.

But in a complete turnaround Arya Stark - YYY, she should stay!
