I wish this Doctor had a "thing" like MS's determined, playful, sadness or DT's sardonic swashbuckling, or CE's chippy alien.

This one just doesn't seem to know who he is - so the words are just coming out of his mouth, not out of his soul.

I rather enjoyed that ep. When the boy said his name my mouth fell open and I said "well, I wasn't expecting that" :o And when PC went into the arena playing Eruption I burst out laughing.

Am I the only person not bothered about the need for any "explanation" for the Doctor having the same face as the guy from the Pompeii story? After all, Colin Baker was in the show before he played the Doctor, and that didn't need to be "explained", any more than all the other dozens (scores?) of actors who have played more than one part in the programme over the years (there must be loads).

They did explain it. Something to do with particular faces or characteristics making an impression on him and manifesting itself in a regeneration. I expect someone else can explain it better than me

I've been told there is more about it this year, specifically relating to this face and the Roman guy. I mean, just leave it!

I agree about the bow tie. Can't think of anything so simple that will immediately scream 12th Doctor. Smith played a blinder insisting on that in his outfit! My DS has a collection of them and just needs to put one on and everyone thinks he's dressed as Doctor Who!

Davros said at one point "I don't control the Daleks any more" so maybe the Daleks knew where the Doctor was, but Davros and his snake man didn't.

I loved the creepy opener with the hands, total nightmare fuel. Love when Who just makes me go "oh shit" like that

Yes, totally agree that it's a bit rubbish when you know they aren't going to kill off all three of them in the first episode.

Plus all the stuff about the eve of the doctor's death. What?? Why didn't he send it last time, then?

I did enjoy the episode, but found the premise totally un-suspenseful and that spoiled it a bit, especially the end.

We caught it on iplayer so it was too late for DS, but I think he would be worried by the lack of tardis/clara/missy, but he's six!

I'm not certain about the Unit conversations. They were basically searching for a man ...

Not to start with - they were discussing what the planes might be targeting, how many there were, how it was attention grabbing etc.

So... Do we reckon Moffat will try "yeah, back from the dead, big shock, eh?" with moriarty?

I enjoyed it but didn't feel it was a very strong opener. It felt like it belonged more in the middle of the series. I agree that PC hasn't really been fleshed out enough, he doesn't have any quirks or catchphrases that make him memorable - even CE got a catchphrase in his one series. Its a shame because I do like him. I really want to see more of Missy but that could be more to do with my girl crush on Michelle Gomez .

I think Missy will be big this series. Huge.

I liked it! The handmines and young Davros were a great start. Looking forward to next week :)
