Hooray! Let's hope that this series is better than the last.
Oh look it's Arya Stark! And more Missy!
And PC's hair is madder than ever!
(And I've found the box of exclamation marks!!!!!)
Let's see Tardis

And what was with the anteater reference? OK, Ashildr might have been to the New World at some point, but the insullt shouldn't have meant a thing to Sam Smith...

Katymac · 24/10/2015 22:20

Yes anteater & 'cocktails' were def not invented then

I though it played a bit like a Tom Baker Dr Who

Gruach · 24/10/2015 23:17

Worst of this series so far. Terrible, terrible line reading on her part - but the script was bad anyway. I don't know any schoolchildren who would have agreed to put on such tedious bilge. For the first time ever (imvho) PC was the best thing in it. By far.

And I hate stupid rubbery monsters so not entirely looking forward to next week. Though UNIT are always fun.

But they took a huge step forwards with the cheating death theme (and towards my anticipated conclusion) when Ashildr said the Doctor had "trapped her in this life". Clara as a Dalek is so going to happen.

Davros · 25/10/2015 00:10

I thought this week's was dreadful. I too am almost giving up but will stick with it for now. When the wooden-acting girl appeared in a dress on rather dark set she just looked like Clara. Drivel. How sad Sad

specialsubject · 25/10/2015 10:13

yet read the reviews (not just the SF sites but the papers) and to them the girl's performance was full of nuance and emotion. I really wonder if I watched the same show!

Lack of acting that serious is quite unusual for Dr Who, there are one or two famed examples in the old series but haven't seen it in the new one.

she wasn't bad last week, but last night's 'performance' was just painful. The actress is older than she looks (she's 18, it seems) so even the 'crap child actor' excuse doesn't work.

Davros · 25/10/2015 12:41

She's just popular because if GoT. Is that what she's in? Anyway some big international TV hit

MrsJayy · 25/10/2015 12:46

Im getting so frustrated i go between loving him to hating the whole piece of nonsense wtaf are those sonic glasses about?

BeckerLleytonNever · 25/10/2015 17:17

Okay, gave last night a go too, and I must say I loved it! cant stand GOT girl, she was wooden, and Rufus Hound reminded me too much of Oliver Reed in Oliver, but otherwise I loved it.

Love the past times ones as they remind me of the Pertwee/Baker era, and PC is just brilliant. glad he had a different gadget other than that awful sunglasses.

plus annoying Clara was mostly absent, mind you GOT girl was worse.

and the spoler in the magazine? If you don't want to know, turn away now...... GOT girl is supposed, according to guy in mag, a hybrid of Clara, Missy and SUsan! Tardis

MrsJayy · 25/10/2015 18:09

I really enjoyed last week but this week i was meh .

Trills · 25/10/2015 20:07

"You didn't save my life, you trapped me in it".

I liked that.

Poor Clara, she's clearly still very upset about Danny dying, and is pretending that everything can be cool and fun with the Doctor forever, when she KNOWS that's not how it works.

hackmum · 26/10/2015 16:55

Actually, I thought this was the best one I've seen in ages. It's been dismal for such a long time but this seemed much more engaging, though I still couldn't quite work out what was going on. It was good not to have Clara in it for most of the episode.

MrsJayy · 26/10/2015 17:19

Its like they are putting together a harem to bother the Doctor missy clara viking girl all we need is River song and we have the full set.

MrsJayy · 26/10/2015 17:21

Osgood is back next week looking forward to seeing her alive

MrsJayy · 26/10/2015 17:22

Peter capaldi is so good the stories are just rubbish

BeckerLleytonNever · 26/10/2015 17:29

On Smooth radio this morn I heard an advert for Mercedes cars. Im positive that was PCs voice on it! Did anyone else hear it and can confirm? If it wasnt him it sounded uncannily like him.

MrsJayy · 26/10/2015 17:31

Yeah its him i heard it yesterday

BeckerLleytonNever · 26/10/2015 17:38

Ah, so I was right to swoon then Wink. Tardis.

thought it was, he and Tom Baker have thje most distinctive DW voices!

MrsJayy · 26/10/2015 17:45

His voice is lovely i know somebody who knows him and aparently he is lovely

MrsJayy · 26/10/2015 18:17

I keep giving it another chance . .. I quite liked the themes (people the Doctor leaves behind; immortality; hybrids); Rufus Hound and the alien but GOT girl was painfully miscast. She just didn't have the ability or the presence to seem 'worthy' of being the Doctor's foe or his friend. I hope she isn't a recurring character for this series.

Osmi I agree about not knowing its audience any more. It seemed kid-friendly so I let DS watch it with me but then it had some inappropriate comments and Sam Smith being violently turned into a portal/conduit made DS (7) cry. parenting fail of the year for me Sad

ThatsNotMyRabbit · 27/10/2015 17:00

I reckon Ishildr will end up as a companion at some point.

Hate the sonic glasses.

regenerationfez · 27/10/2015 18:14

I'm a bit annoyed about that actually. The middle aged fanboys who have long forgotten how old they were when they started watching Who seem to have have got their way. The Doctor just does not seem warm or funny anymore and there are just too many nods to the past.

BestIsWest · 28/10/2015 08:08

I agree that it needs to be more child friendly, then I keep harking back to The Angry Child. DS was 7 when that was aired and it terrified him but it didn't put him off. However I think some of these stories are just too complicated. I love PC but the ratings are slipping and maybe it's due for another hiatus. It's not fun enough.

On another note I hear DT and Donna are back for 3 episodes. What's that about? Maybe that's what's needed to generate a bit of interest.

BestIsWest · 28/10/2015 08:09

DD has met PC several times and says he is lovely and he remembered her and asked about our dog.
