I had avoided this thread till I had watched Monday's episode - my friend had to give birth recently knowing her baby had died :(

I have just watched and Was very emotional and was in non stop tears

I think ee have tried to show how sad and devastating stillborn can be and my heart goes out to all those on this thread and including my friend who have had to go through this. I can't imagine how hard it must be

I am sure diet didn't mean to say the wrong word and upset anyone on this thread Flowers

I am surprised ee didn't mention hand or feet prints - or a lock of hair - but that might come in tonight's

Sorry they did do handprints but not a lock of hair

I've just watched last nights episode. It was very well done. So sad, thankfully I have never lost a child but a close friend had to deliver her daughter at 23 weeks and it was horrendous. No one really knew what to say, hopefully this will help people understand more.
The scene with Kush was lovely - the Dads are often forgotten in baby loss/infertility stories

CrapBag · 01/09/2015 16:43

Thank you for clarifying tamisara. I get what you mean. I thought you were offended because diet said it had given her an insight so I was confused.

I have been very fortunate that I have not been through such a harrowing experience but I can see how the miscarry/stillbirth terminology would upset someone when not used correctly. I always thought the 'cut off' was 24 weeks but I have heard the term miscarriage used past this, which I do think is wrong and it should be classed as a still birth and the fact that people use miscarriage way after 24 weeks confuses people. Surely the fact they are having a funeral means it is a stillbirth? Happy to be corrected if this is not the case.

So sorry for all those who have been through this. I know 2 people it has happened to, 1 who was due within 3 days of me and it was truly awful. Flowers

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 01/09/2015 18:16

Apologies to anyone who was upset by my using the word miscarry instead of stillborn. I didn't realise it was so offensive and as the word stillborn was not used in Eastenders, I don't think it registered. I have a friend who lost her baby at 18 weeks about 2 weeks ago and it was her who I thinking of when I wrote that post. She was deeply traumatised by it and shut herself away for a while after informing us of what had happened. What I meant was that this episode made me think of her and why it was so painful for her to even interact with anyone else after her loss. She's slowly coming round no but talking about it will come slowly in time, I guess.

I would say that in RL, if anyone uses the work miscarriage instead of stillborn, please don't automatically assume they are 'rubbing salt in your wounds' or are intentionally out to hurt you. Just correct them gently. I'm sure they'd appreciate being informed of what the correct terminology is. I'm a mother myself but even I still had to Google the stage at which point a baby is referred to as a stillborn and not a miscarriage. Now I know -20 weeks.

Stillborn, miscarriage or a baby who dies after being born alive - all are deep losses and all traumatic, although I can't imagine the pain of preparing for a new arrival with so much excitement, happiness and anticipation and then having to go home to a new and empty nursery empty handed and worse still to have to experience the trauma of labour knowing there will only be silence on the other side. It's something that's even difficult to think about never mind experience.

Flowers to all affected.

3littlebadgers · 01/09/2015 19:28

The diet, your friend is lucky to have you, just follow her lead and let her talk as much as you can. I am nearly 6 months down the line from the death of my little girl. I have had great friends who really helped to get me through. I am still desperate to be able to talk about my angel, I think I always will be. Just be there for her x

Pud2 · 01/09/2015 20:06

Another emotional episode tonight. It really highlights how such an experience affects the whole family. I felt so sorry for Kush who simply didn't know what to do.

southeastdweller · 01/09/2015 22:11

Good to see another side to Carmel tonight. I can't speak enough about Bonnie Langford - she's fitted in so well.

RedCrayons · 01/09/2015 22:56

Flowers to all posters and readers who have lived this story.

Such a touching story and so well acted. She gets a lot of stick for her normal everyday scenes, but she's been amazing in this story. And Kush too, the bit when he said my dreams are in that room too, was heartbreaking.

I hope they follow through with this story and don't drop it next week, like they do with every other story.

Mick and Shirley, zzzzzzzzzzz. how many times are we going to see them making up and falling out again?

RedCrayons · 01/09/2015 22:57

She = Shabnam ^

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 02/09/2015 00:44

Feel so sorry for Kush.

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 02/09/2015 00:47

3littlebadgers, Flowers six months is still very fresh. You'll probably feel raw for a long time but when you're ready to talk, I'm sure your friends will be there to offer support. And us here on mumsnet.
You could also try writing. Sometimes it's easier than talking to someone.

DieselSpillages · 02/09/2015 07:29

Can Danny Dyer's acting get any more dire ?

Jasonandyawegunorts · 02/09/2015 07:41

I've not known what to post over the last few episodes, so i've stayed away from here.

I hear Tracey will be given a "big role" in an up coming storyline.

Fakebook · 02/09/2015 08:02

I think Tracey is going to be involved in Kathy's storyline because she's the only person who has been there the longest after Ian.

It looks like Babe is coming back too in the next few episodes.

SoupDragon · 02/09/2015 08:24

That is what the Facebook "trending news" implied about Tracey.

RedCrayons · 02/09/2015 19:32

JUst been reading about Tracey on EE. Didn't realise she'd be in it since the first episode. And she shagged Dennis Rickman!!

SPOILER ABOUT TRACEY

RedCrayons · 03/09/2015 21:36

What a strange episode that one was, too many bits of stories. I couldn't concentrate on what was going on.
I still don't get what Aunt Babe was up to.

I don't care what Vincent does. But I love Denise, wish they'd give her better stories.
Shabnam and lush in a suit Kush were a bit of an anti climax. She was obviously not going to Pakistan, she's packed a suitcase. If she was really going she would have had a small rucksack and left via the tube. Hope they don't forget about them for a few weeks and they're back to normal

Mrsjayy · 03/09/2015 21:42

Was very disjointed eh, they were selling babies for adoption probably scouring the streets for unwed shamed girls remember this would have been 60s/70s queenie trott found the parents babe delivered the babies.

LuluJakey1 · 03/09/2015 21:48

Am I the only person who
a) Does not like Denise?
b) Can see no point to her character?

LuluJakey1 · 03/09/2015 21:53

And I thought the Babe thing was going to be a Fred and Rose West scenario of serial killing. vivid imagination

southeastdweller · 03/09/2015 22:06

Diane Parish (Denise) is a superb actress but she's wasted at the moment with her poor stories.

I really hope Kush and Shabnam can make a go of it now and that the Stacey thing doesn't resurface.

RedCrayons · 03/09/2015 22:12

Lulu - Denise is totally pointless at the moment, it's such a shame. She was fab in the serial killer story.
All she does now is stand at the back scowling. I loved her with Zainab when they used to do the book club.

Mrsjayy · 03/09/2015 22:35

I love Denise she is one of my favourites.i thought babe and queenie were murdering girls too Blush

Mrsjayy · 03/09/2015 22:37

Yeah she is wasted atm is she still an alcoholic is she still hitting patrick all she does is give vincentthe look thesedays.
