DAVIS CUP TENNIS- GB v FRANCE- Starts Friday 17th at 12pm

First up is James Ward v Gilles Simon, followed by Andy Murray V Jo Willy Tsonga.

I think the French team are collectively stronger- although it seems an odd decision to leave Gasquet out of the opening matches, when he had such a good Wimbledon. GB are in the semi finals for the first time since 1981.

Here are the squads

Great Britain
Andy Murray (world number three)
Jamie Murray (world number 20 in doubles
James Ward (world number 89)
Dom Inglot (world number 40 in doubles

France.
Gilles Simon (world number 11)
Richard Gasquet (world number 13)
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (world number 12)
Nicolas Mahut (world number 22 in doubles)

All at the lovely Queen's club. Fingers crossed the weather is fine.

First set won and a break up in the second I hesitate to say it but he's looking much better today some really amazing shots. Lots of commentator talk about Uncle Toni and the possibility of him retiring......not sure if just gossip or if they know something we don't.

Mama1980 · 30/07/2015 16:56

Damn
Vamos!

Raahh · 30/07/2015 17:35

I would be surprised if Toni retired. Maybe he can take a back seat.

I definitely think the Nadal team need to rethink things if he is to get back to the top. But a win this week could boost his confidence.

And Fed has pulled out of the Rogers cup.
1 down....Grin

???? Raahh.

Would be surprised too, but agree some new people/ideas are definitely needed if Rafa is gonna challenge Djokovic etc Apparently Toni was saying in a interview about the travel getting to him at his age.

Raahh · 31/07/2015 15:36

arggggh. My internet is down, and it is annoying me.

Rafa off to a good start against Seppi, I still haven't got any internet and the tv isn't working either.

I hate Virgin. ( I have probably said that before). Grin

yay! Rafa wins- but it didn't appear to be easy. Still, it's a title in the bag, and some matches played.

Will need to be better going into the hard court tournaments.

Hey Raahh Smile
I saw the match, it was a tough, close one with lots of breaks of serve. Very pleased for Rafa. He looked quite chuffed too, at the end.

Raahh · 02/08/2015 16:41

That's good, Drama- I hope it gives him a bit of a lift. Every time I checked the scores in the second set it always seemed to be 0-40!

Lots of games went to deuce, and the first two games of the match lasted about 20 minutes!

Raahh · 06/08/2015 10:55

Well, I've been sort of following Washington this week, and woke to find Murray has lost in his first match to Gabashvili.

Can't believe how quickly this summer is going. Whilst also going reallllly slowly with 3 kids getting bored in the rain. Grin

So, congratulations to them.WineCake

MrsVamos · 06/08/2015 23:55

Hello Lovelies

Must thank magi for the Rafa heads up. Thanks

Lovely baby news for Andy & Kim. Smile

Now, was she before they got hitched, or did they have a very energetic wedding night ? Grin

MrsVamos · 06/08/2015 23:57

I'd like Xisca & Rafa to have a babby next.

Bet a babby-Rafa would be very cute.

Raahh · 09/08/2015 00:30

ooh, a Rafa baby would be lovely.

I'mSad that Nishikori beat Cilic.

If Isner beats Johnson, he might win tomorrow- being several feet taller than Nish.Grin I am 4ft 8 and allowed to make 'short' jokes

Mind you, Cilic is very tall too. stupid theory

Ooooh, the Davis cup against the Aussies is to be played in Glasgow in September.

I AM going, no matter what.

Which day to go though? what would you experts recommend?
