Here - scroll down a bit.

There's Quinn. There's Saul. There's the old bag-over-the-head routine. It's in Berlin. I am ridiculously excited.

Watched Sunday's episode last night....

Shock Shock

I can't believe Quinn went after Carrie. I really hope he's plotting to just keep her safe. I also can't believe the silly bint came off her meds and hid, alone in the forest, ridiculous.

Cocolepew · 27/10/2015 13:55

Surely she would have went for a head shot?

Lweji · 27/10/2015 13:56

Always a major fault in tv series and films in my opinion. Always go for the head if you do want to kill someone.

Fiderer · 27/10/2015 14:05

Yes, you see a lot of TV bods facing a sniper with a bullet-proof vest but no helmet.

I was AS'ing earlier to check Tasneem's name and saw how many Homeland threads we've had and how many gripes. Hassled wanted to start a fund to buy Dana Brodie new footwear and we were all prepared to chip in for her silent brother's speech therapy.

My gripe today is Allison/CIA woman. Apart from thinking her hatched-faced and wearing annoyingly clacky shoes and tight skirts, her "I've taken a Xanax so not tonight Saul" has me a bit suspicious. He hasn't been in Berlin that long and I suspect she's stringing him along. That after trying to string him up with Dar Salieri.

Lweji · 27/10/2015 14:44

Could she be sleeping with Dar too? Halloween Hmm

xSummerStarsx · 27/10/2015 14:50

I'm confused re the Saul and Hair women thing. Is he now divorced from his wife or something then?? I honestly can't remember what happened with him and Mrs Saul in the end.

Cocolepew · 27/10/2015 15:04

I think Saul and Hair Lady have been at it longer than him arriving in Berlin.
Im cheesed off at the stupid high heels women on the telly wear.

Duckdeamon · 27/10/2015 17:58

am simply blocking out the saul/eowyn thing, agree with a PP that it's Shock Confused

Fiderer · 27/10/2015 18:19

It's so off kilter that I am afraid it's a thing.

Something is afoot. Cannot believe Saul would shag HatchetFace and cannot believe he'd set Quinn on Carrie.

Mira MrsSaul hasn't been mentioned since Saul was rescued last series.

I saw a man in the PO today who looked like Düring. Am in rural Germany about a million miles from Berlin but I did that double-take thing and it made me smile. And eye the postboxes.

AmberFool · 27/10/2015 18:39

Wasn't the pill that the boyfriend gave to Carrie a sedative to calm her down but she didn't get the lithium? I thought Manic Carrie was going to attack the boyfriend when he threatened to dial for an ambulance.

I assume Quinn gave her more sedatives in the syringe? She'll overdose at this rate.

I loved Quinn's proposition to his sometime f-buddy, German spy, it's so like him. She wanted to as well but common sense won out. Grin

Re: Carrie not going for the headshot - my thoughts exactly plus when he took his jacket off to show the audience that he hadn't died because he was wearing a bpv. Hmm I can't believe that would be your first priority when abducting someone! Carrie is going to be Shock when she wakes to find Quinn next to her.

I thought there was more to Saul and the chief of Berlin station - their whole conversation where she said how he would do anything for Carrie in the last episode came off like she was jealous and the way Saul told Dar that she made a misstep was a bit odd - although he did say that he would need her this weekend. I wonder what's cooking.

AmberFool · 27/10/2015 18:41

On a side note, do many German women wear high heels to work or on a night out? When I visited their Swiss neighbours I was struck by how few women wore high heels, even on a night out.

expatinscotland · 27/10/2015 18:50

Why do people bother with high heels? They hurt and fuck up your feet.

Fiderer · 27/10/2015 21:57

I don't think many women dress up as much for work or going out here. I know HatchetFace is more used to US power dressing but she's in Berlin so more likely to stand out dressed as she is. Admittedly as I said I am in Sticksville but the work dress code is so informal and in any case, what would she do in an emergency in those heels?

Then again, the agents she had outside the Düring Foundation practically had flags waving "We are CIA agents" so maybe subtlety isn't her strong point.

Hassled · 28/10/2015 22:36

Have finally managed to watch. Blimey.

While on the one hand I believe Quinn to be Good - in that he'll whisk Carrie away somewhere safe and keep her safe (because it was a newspaper clue rather than a photo, hence different instruction from Saul) - I also believe him to be Bad and Wrong for gagging a skateboarding child with duct tape - that was low.

Saul's shagging Glamorous Redhead for the information. Not that she has much information to offer - why is she so sure Carrie's part of the leak on the basis of one shot of her talking to JournalistWithArrestWarrants Woman? It's too inconclusive to be so focussed on tracking Carrie down.

I'm a bit confused re Strip Club Boys - beardy chap genuinely thought he was giving Journalist the proper stuff, but blonde man had done a swap so he could offer it to Russians? Is that right?

Hassled · 28/10/2015 22:44

Also - Fiderer - was Quinn's German accent-less enough that you'd be taken in by him as a cop/security guard?

OP posts:
Fiderer · 29/10/2015 10:45

His accent is awful but there are a lot of foreigners in Germany with foreign accents

I just showed s2 (16) the clip and asked him what he'd do in that situation. Didn't explain anything, just showed him. He said he'd call the police Grin You rarely see anyone with dark glasses here and he'd ask to check the ID properly first. Asked me to re-play it and then laughed.

He said OK the boy is younger and doesn't know security guards can't arrest you but there is a respect for authority so him going with Quinn was believable.

Howaboutthisone · 29/10/2015 10:49

Respect for authority you say? Must be nice to be in Germany!
I thought the taking of the child was awful. A good way to keep knocking us over the head with the fact that Quinn has returned to ruthless mode though.

Fiderer · 29/10/2015 10:57

Has its good and bad sides really. I'm finding it odd that this series is set in Germany because it's familiar in many ways but odd at the same time. Nothing like being unequivocal is there? Grin

I think Hassled is right, Allison can't be sure about Carrie's involvement. I think she wants her out of the way. Because C has a reputation (undeserved imo) for being a good agent and maybe more because she knows Saul will listen to her.

Fuck knows what Saul is doing with her. No, redact that.

expatinscotland · 29/10/2015 12:57

I'd let Quinn tie me up and take me to hell, FWIW. Grin

Carrie deserves to win an Oscar for all those weird faces she makes. I love it when she goes off the rails. She's so boring when she's on her meds.

Lweji · 29/10/2015 14:00

Going to watch episode 4 tonight. Can't wait...

SurlyCue · 29/10/2015 15:47

I saw a man in the PO today who looked like Düring.

It wasnt Phil Tuffnell was it? Grin

Cocolepew · 29/10/2015 18:00

Oh no expat, he's too boney. He'd either snap or have your eye out with a rib.

TheSpottedZebra · 29/10/2015 18:13

Arf Surly

.

I flip flop between listing after Quinn, and finding him to be a surly, hungry weasel.

expatinscotland · 29/10/2015 18:14

Noooo, he's hot. I do love me a bit of Quinn. Carrie is mental to have gone with ginger whiskers over Quinn.

Fiderer · 29/10/2015 18:21

Carrie was all "Oh no I can't" after that kiss with Quinn last series.

Then he went off to Syria for 2 years. Risking his life while she bought a bike and started working for Phil Tufnell.

Her loss. No wonder he wanted to shag the German spy.
